From the very beginning, Palm was a foil to Killua. She externalized her feelings whereas Killua internalized them, but they both felt similarly; they both wanted to spend time with Gon and have him pay attention to them, but Gon in this arc is mostly focused on Kite and getting stronger. As he told Palm: "I can't give you what you want, time with me", which applies to Killua as well. Palm reacts pretty extremely to Gon not meeting her needs, but Killua on the other hand pretends that everything is fine even though he also feels neglected, he decided to just focus on playing the "support" role while Gon does whatever he did, and that's why he was "fading away" as Shoot put it. Killua also started getting the impression that Gon must care about Palm more than him because he kept asking and showing concern for her before the mission, when combined with his already low self-esteem and Gon's words confirming his worst nightmare (that he doesn't want or need him right now), it only made sense that he would break down and believe that Palm is the one who Gon needs instead of him. Palm helping Killua realize that he is the most important person for Gon no matter what brings all of this back full circle, and in the same way Palm had to learn to express her emotions better and not let them explode all over everyone around her, Killua too has to learn to not bottle everything up, "Better to let everything out than hold it in", and to actually make his emotional needs clear to Gon. Regardless of how you feel about Palm and the way her character was handled early on (I agree that it was rather poorly done), she serves a great purpose of indirectly making Killua's emotional development more clear.
I love that Ant Palm gives up on being THAT person to Gon and stops competing with Killua. She accepts Killua as the most important while Killua himself is struggling to recognize that due to his own insecurities (and Gon's attitude). It has to be Killua :')
This is the reason why HxH is my fav. I don't blame People who say Ant arc is overrated, many people fail to appreciate the characters and motives when they watch it Some character moments are so well thought out you literally need 5 6 paragraphs to explain properly which is something not for everyone. Togashi is a mastermind, and this entire story, especially this arc, is a masterpiece, a beautiful work of art, a canvas depicting love, hatred, innocence, corruption, happiness, suffering, loyalty, betrayal, anger, sadness, life, death, malevolence, destruction, resolve, determination, avarice, sacrifice, "true" power, truth, and understanding."
HxH and it's characters can be very logical which only places even more weight on when characters act on emotion, and I love that the writing rewards Killua for being vulnerable by having him break Palm free and for Palm to then acknowledge and reaffirm his worth to Gon and that he's someone very special to him. HxH knows when to treat it's characters kindly
The difference between Hisoka and Palm is crystal clear. Hisoka is completely aware that what he does is questionable but still engages in that, he is completely self aware and does it for his own selfish reasons. Hisoka is sure of himself, full of individuality and self worth. Palm on the other hand, has no worth of her own and tries to find value in anything that shows her love. She doesn't have the clear mental space to ponder over right or wrong. The metamorphosis she went through cleared her head space by distorting the connection between her emotions and memory, where she achieved a strong sense of individuality (proven by the enhancer black widow ability and letting her emotions loose). Once she gained that agency all that was needed was a reminder to who she was, Killua's words miraculously worked and saved her. And now we have a matured version of Palm, with a new found worth, and it's only strengthened when she learns the true value of camaraderie (with Killua and co.) and love (with Meruem and Komugi). Easily one of the best written characters in the show, and the best girl alongside Melody for me at least. One more parallel she has is with Gon, another suicidal enhancer of his arc. Both went to the extent of committing suicide to prove their worth or reduce the burden of guilt. Therefore, Palm had already proven it through her mission, she had nothing more to prove after the rebirth, signifying the prospect of self-agency.
For me this scene btw Killua and Palm teaches us that we shouldn't judge/discard people we don't understand so easily/hastily : Killua surely didn't expect Palm to be the one comforting him, since the moment they met he just wanted her to disappear from their sight (same as majority of the viewers in fact 'she's weird let's skip her') ...obviously we should protect ourselves from harm but even someone as unstable as Palm can bring smth to us at the most unexpected time and I'm sure irl many people had such experience ...Togashi never gave us her background but it's obvious that she went through some type of trauma to be this way at 22y old ...I wish instead of judging more people would try to fill the blanks, Gon did and I love him for that he really knew how to handle her ...if more people were that way mental health issues' awareness would make huge progress

I like how Palm vs Killua here parallels Rammot vs Killua, and both are character defining moments for Killua. In the former he gets over his past and in the latter he gets over his present.

I was hoping for this episode, oh man. I don't think I've ever cried over a charcater's heartbreak as much as I did for Killua's in this episode. Also the face he makes when Palm tells him he's the one Gon needs the most... that mixture of shock, terror (after all he did just break down and admitted he thought he could no longer help Gon) and also painful realization... like yes, maybe he can't do anything for Gon, but if anyone can at all it's HIM. And the stakes are just too high. Those two, man... those two 💔

If you pay attention to how the characters around the King (royal guards) feels for their king and how much love and loyality they have for in their own ways, in a sense the characters around Gon are like that too, Killua and Palm are like his royal guards especially like Pitou and Pouf, one cares about the feelings of the king more than her owns and the other is selflish that want to be next to the King but wants the King to be as what he wants or what he thinks he most be and not as how the King himself wants to be. Which is reflected in the difference between Killua and Palm feelings for Gon. I just can't identify who represent Yoppi ? 😂
It's a bit different though because Killua definitely has a false perception of Gon that he indirectly pushes on him ("Gon you are the light") which leads to their many communication issues in this arc, he is actually similar to Pouf in the way that he didn't like how Gon was changing from who he believed and wanted him to be, but was too scared of confronting that ("I am so afraid of what it is that is growing inside our King" VS "If I ask, there's no going back").
not really smart so much as being given context thanks to people telling them things in their comments. plus people telling them to watch episodes together or just hyping up certain episodes makes it easy to guess whats coming.

100% spoiled in the comments. People can piece together all these subtle comment spoilers and guess what happens. Them strongly believing Welfin and Palm are important characters for example are thanks to comments like "Welfin is MVP" or "Palm character development is great".

I spected them to cry way more with killuas breakdown lol it was the only scene that has made me cry in the whole anime industry, a lot of them has taken me to the verge of crying but this is the only one that has got me to the point 🥲
There is huge difference between Hisoka and Palm. Palm never had any type of sexual attraction to Gon, she was emotionally in love cause Gon was the first person who treat her with kindness without any second intention behind. Its sad and weird that she felt some kind of love fot a 12/13 year old kid, but the show never intended to point it as a sexual attraction, even Gon said he had a lot of dates previously with Mito, so Gon never suspected something different than a good afternoon with Mito. Palms actions are still not justified, but Palm never wanted to harass Gon neither assault him or view him in any sexual way.

He knew from the beginning that she wasn’t that bad. Like knuckle who pretend to be tough but is the most carrying person, she acts like a murderer machine but won’t harm anyone.

Lol, therapy's a bit much. This is Palm's growth episode, as far as the show's concerned, so she probably doesn't need any extra help. It's also unfair to label her as a pedophile who is also mentally unstable. It's moreso that she's the latter, which enabled the former. The former isn't an intrinsic part of her, and if we assume she's dealt with her instability and is in control of her emotions now, then we may as well consider it dealt with. Well, it's not like it's forgiven, but it's certainly over. Palm's got her emotions under control ; Killua's learnt to let them out a little more and that he doesn't have to just tank everything like he's always done.

There's an evil dimension in which they make Palm break the "brainwashing" not because of Killua breaking down but for his "love" for Gon and continue the whole Palm Gon thing and treat the whole scene as a joke instead of an emotional scene for Killua. Imagine.
I've watched HxH many times, it's my favorite series, I've watched many reactions and also the 1999 version, but I have never watched past Ep 123. I have no idea why but I guess I sometimes don't want to know endings. I'm wondering if I will continue now, but I think I will. Sorry for talking about myself this much but i wanted to share it.
Just to be clear there are characters that can kill the king... just how Kurapika was weaker than some of the PT but he's unstoppable to them(in a fight) because his nen is designed to beat them... there are those whose nen gives them the kill...

Reading the comments on characters like Palm and Hisoka, why is morality discourse so dumb with anime fans? Acting like the only thing that matters is the act itself and not the framing or the perspective or the context of their actions; and how people will always have differing reactions based on their own values and sensibilities. The beauty of fiction is that we can view these characters in a unique and in-depth lens, and not in a moral vacuum. Yes a mass murderer is technically worse than a pedophile but if the narrative frames the pedo in a dogshit manner, I'm going to hate and criticize it.
Hello LM- you love anime i know but i have a few suggestions for compelling shows- Turn- Washington's spies, true detective ( S1 only), Outlander ( although i thinks they really go after reactors), House MD, Sherlock, orange is the new black, Poldark, peaky blinders, Ripper Street which is an unbelievably good and unique show ( 5 or 6 Game of Thrones people in it) ... You have no reason to trust me on this next statement, but here goes- don't watch The Sopranos. It's not a good show and it's highly overrated. Almost every episode is the same. I love their insight and how they approached the show but it’s clear that they don’t like Palm at all. To see how unsderstanding they are toward the most gruesome characters of this show but despite Palm is really not consistent. But hey!!! That’s also the beauty of this show, to have those mixed feeling towards the protagonists and antagonists.
You're seeing the world from Hunter's POV. But still you have enough world building to know that besides the hunter's POV, everything in the world is like just ours.
Thorfinn killed hundreds of innocent people. Innocent in terms of they were defending their homes from Vikings. Palm went on a date with Gon and nothing happened. It's a bit strange how Lola writes off Palm as a human being, even more crazy suggesting she be jailed.. but loves Thorfinn to death. Imagine putting those two side by side and somehow it's Palm who ends up behind bars? But with Lola that would probably end up being the case. Maybe something to reflect on. And she can't use the argument of Thorfinn went through this, this and this.. because during the outro discussion she mentioned how it, "Doesn't matter how Palm got there mentally, it's the fact that she got there." @lymlevolveon And when you say both are completely different types of characters you should elaborate because I don't know what YOU specifically mean when you say that. But yes, they are completely different. Palm went on a date with Gon where nothing happened except she got mad and went on a fruitless rampage. Is it because Thorfinn showed clear remorse and devoted his life to creating a world where he could save the victims of war? What if Palm changed and showed clear remorse, would she get the same compassion and forgiveness? Which, is funny to even bring up about Palm because she didn't actually do ANYTHING illegal with Gon. Guilty until proven innocent, I guess. That is my comparison between the two characters and the way Lola treats them.
@@marodonthemorone SA "jokes" are normally taken way worse compared to murder even if legally the later is worse, also Mushoku uses tropes that the girls would find super weird, even shows like re zero I would doubt to recommend it. Stuff like Frieren, 86, Spy X Family, The Apothecary Diaries or more classic shonens (Demon slayer, JJK) would be more fitting for them than MT imo.
Maybe appreciate that you're getting HxH reactions at all. And maybe appreciate that this way, you'll be getting them for longer, rather than running out in a day (which sounds like copium, because it is, but it's still valid)
Not at all, they both have long discussions after each episode, so they have a better understanding than most of people who just brainlessly press “next episode” without even thinking about what they saw. Just by doing this you can tell what’s gonna happen in a story 90% of the time. Also, both of them made a lot of wrong predictions with HxH, so just because some of them are true it doesn’t mean they’ve seen the show.

Komugi is a key element to the plot and to meruem story, so it’s pretty obvious that meruem and komugi story isn’t finished yet, otherwise it would be a waste. Again, they had many theories about how king is gonna die and they were all wrong. Just because now they said the right one, doesn’t mean it was their first and only attempt at predicting what’s gonna happen. If you really think that they’ve already seen the show, you clearly don’t know them, and you have probably only watched a few of their reactions. If you had watched every one of their HxH reactions with the discussions, you would have never even slightly thought that they’ve seen the show.
Not necessarily watched the anime. Probably got spoiled by a random comment, image, or CZcams thumbnail/title. Just one comment citing "military weapon" is enough to guess what will happen. That's why it's never a good idea to read comments. But they stated before they love reading comments and getting spoiled so...

Palm never had any type of sexual attraction to Gon, she was emotionally in love cause Gon was the first person who treat her with kindness without any second intention behind. Its sad and weird that she felt some kind of love fot a 12/13 year old kid, but the show never intended to point it as a sexual attraction, even Gon said he had a lot of dates previously with Mito, so Gon never suspected something different than a good afternoon with Mito.
Palms actions are still not justified, but Palm never wanted to harass Gon neither assault him or view him in any sexual way.
Idk what your definition of assualt is but running after someone with a knife intending to stab them fits it.

He knew from the beginning that she wasn’t that bad. Like knuckle who pretend to be tough but is the most carrying person, she acts like a murderer machine but won’t harm anyone.

Lol, therapy's a bit much. This is Palm's growth episode, as far as the show's concerned, so she probably doesn't need any extra help. It's also unfair to label her as a pedophile who is also mentally unstable. It's moreso that she's the latter, which enabled the former. The former isn't an intrinsic part of her, and if we assume she's dealt with her instability and is in control of her emotions now, then we may as well consider it dealt with. Well, it's not like it's forgiven, but it's certainly over. Palm's got her emotions under control ; Killua's learnt to let them out a little more and that he doesn't have to just tank everything like he's always done.

Hello LM- you love anime i know but i have a few suggestions for compelling shows- Turn- Washington's spies, true detective ( S1 only), Outlander ( although i thinks they really go after reactors), House MD, Sherlock, orange is the new black, Poldark, peaky blinders, Ripper Street which is an unbelievably good and unique show ( 5 or 6 Game of Thrones people in it) ... You have no reason to trust me on this next statement, but here goes- don't watch The Sopranos. It's not a good show and it's highly overrated. Almost every episode is the same. Thorfinn killed hundreds of innocent people. Innocent in terms of they were defending their homes from Vikings. Palm went on a date with Gon and nothing happened. It's a bit strange how Lola writes off Palm as a human being, even more crazy suggesting she be jailed.. but loves Thorfinn to death.
Imagine putting those two side by side and somehow it's Palm who ends up behind bars? But with Lola that would probably end up being the case. Maybe something to reflect on.

Thorfinn killed hundreds of people, most of whom were just defending their homes. How is it that Palm is the irredeemable one and Thorfinn is so easily forgiven? Is it because Thorfinn showed clear remorse and devoted his life to creating a world where he could save the victims of war? What if Palm changed and showed clear remorse, would she get the same compassion and forgiveness? Which, is funny to even bring up about Palm because she didn't actually do ANYTHING illegal with Gon. Guilty until proven innocent, I guess.
That is my comparison between the two characters and the way Lola treats them.

Not at all, they both have long discussions after each episode, so they have a better understanding than most of people who just brainlessly press “next episode” without even thinking about what they saw. Just by doing this you can tell what’s gonna happen in a story 90% of the time.
Also, both of them made a lot of wrong predictions with HxH, so just because some of them are true it doesn’t mean they’ve seen the show.

@@tyruswillier7358 so you basically admitted you’re dumb, ok. Netero has to die, in most anime the old strong character dies, also he’s facing meruem who has proven to be stronger than anybody. Komugi is a key element to the plot and to meruem story, so it’s pretty obvious that meruem and komugi story isn’t finished yet, otherwise it would be a waste. Again, they had many theories about how king is gonna die and they were all wrong. Just because now they said the right one, doesn’t mean it was their first and only attempt at predicting what’s gonna happen. If you really think that they’ve already seen the show, you clearly don’t know them, and you have probably only watched a few of their reactions. If you had watched every one of their HxH reactions with the discussions, you would have never even slightly thought that they’ve seen the show.
Not necessarily watched the anime. Probably got spoiled by a random comment, image, or CZcams thumbnail/title.
