All of the income of his Foundation is donated to not-for-profit institutions for that purpose. In the decade since his death, recipients of the Foundation’s support have included extraordinary young actors affiliated with the Canadian Film Centre, The National Screen Institute of Canada, the Stratford Shakespearean Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, which, since Brian's passing, has preserved and housed Brian's personal archive and tape library. - Zábava
The best female singer of all time... unfortunately she didn't get to write her autobiography as she wanted to.
I am sure she is "one"of the"Greatest Singers Of All Time!!"
@@kellyfoster8873 it's all relative. Maybe Marcello feels that Ella was the greatest female singer ever born. He's entitled to that opinion.
@@kellyfoster8873 that’s their opinion and they feel she was the greatest to ever do it!
You gotta understand Ella was a very very private person and rarely gave interviews. Her whole body language looked a little uncomfertable to me, and I thought he was realy respectful and tried his best to break the ice. She came across so adorable though, (like always).
He said Blues, I would be awkward to be interviewed by him.
@@edmund114 I think what it is, is that he is a real jazz fan (meaning) he knew alot about her and other jazz musicians. I found it interesting that he knew about Duke Ellington's secret passion for writing plays, (not alot of people knew that), which ses to me that he valued these musicians very much and took a real interest in their lives. He was a fan basically, which is very rare for a person in a position of being an interviewer for TV. Just my thoughts on it.
@@edmund114 jazz singers do sing the blues...Jazz has Blues in its dna...
@@Gl6619 yeah, jazz and ragtime are actually music. The blues are just for people who can't compose.
This dude is the perfect interviewer. Very respectful. Very informed. Very engaging. You can tell he had mad respect for this queen and artists in general.
He seemed smitten by her. Like we all are.
Agreed!
I have loved this woman from the first moment I ever heard her sing. A great regret is never seeing her perform.
Same here , I wish I could tell my younger self to get my ass to an Ella show asap
My mom saw Ella live sometime in the 80’s. She is one of my mom’s favorite singers.
She said that seeing Ella live in concert was probably one of the best concerts she had ever been to.
So lucky omg! ❤❤
"I can't hear the dishes rattling, am I boring them?" Such a sophisticated and modest lady. Up there with the all time greatest.
What a beautiful lady...
It's a shame she never got around to write an autobiography.
My all time favourite female singer. Love you Ella❤️
I actually thought this was a great interview! She appreciated that he did his research and knew so much about her!
She gave in so many ways including to the homeless children
So graceful and sophiscated
Oh, I love her so! She is extraordinary!
Get in line, we all adore her
I'm so humbled to watch Miss Fitzgerald. What a beautiful soul. I'm overwhelmed. I'll meet her one day.
Ella was a Superb singer. RIP
She’s genius
NO VOCAL LESSONS?? WOW!!!
What a lovable soul.
An amazing woman with a dreamy, almost surreal talent.
I like the distinction she makes when she says she sings ballads as opposed to blues songs.
The best interview of Ella I ever had the pleasure to see. Ella is such a private person the interviewer definitely was extremely knowledgeable and a fan of Ella and knew exactly when to back off from asking to many personal question and I was so surprised how open she was involved in the interview. You can see in Ella body language that she is nervous. Thank You very much who ever downloaded this remarkable interview of a musical ICON.
R I P Ella. Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood California.
This is marvelous!Thank you for uploading.
3:56-4:01...seriously...she is just....no words.

That is the first insight of Ela the the privet person wonderful interview .Thank You for the down load.
💜💜💜 A queen is a queen is a queen!
I like this guy. Love Ms Fitzgerald ❤
Omg she is so smart and amazing. A true genius with music. Nobody will ever compare.
She was such a classy lady.
Amazing. And for ppl who know: The many famous ppl & iconic artists in the audience. Wow.
Thank you!. Very Beautiful, Mother Ms. Ella Fitzgerald.
One of the greatest singers of our era!!!
The guy who did the interview is very good. 👏
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.
THIS IS A TREASURE ⭐️⭐️❤️❤️
I'm making a character based on her
I'd love to hear more about this.
Would like to read it
❤️
"Who told you this?" -)

He must be a big fan
Definitely
Phrasing is what sets her apart. 😊
03:56 How would it be to have Ella Fitzgerald in front of you and see her start singing?! I would faint.....
My mom saw her sometime in the 80’s or early 90’s at The Wolf Trap, and she said that even in old age, Ella was a hell of a singer, and she has said that to this day, that show was still one of the best concerts she had ever been to.
She was 56 here.
What song is that in the intro to this video
The host looks like the cop from the Simpson 😂
Anybody?
14#room house
What are her best songs??? Ballard wise???
Too many to even list!!!
This man is the predecessor to Nardwuar
She is lovely as can be. He's horrid.
Could they choose more terrible intermission music?
I always thought this interviewer was awkward. He sometimes asks strange questions and his interviews feel like they are being done in a library where everyone's careful not to bother the people reading nearby. Ultimately, they always have great content, the people he talks to reveal interesting things about themselves, but I'd be sleeping within 5 minutes if it weren't for them.
Linehan might be the creepiest interviewer ever.
He's what gays called, "One miserable CUNT." LOL
Ella on the other hand was a class A lady.
I totally disagree.
Thought he was super laid back and sweet.
Haters gonna hate...
Case and point: "Do you think they talk about your voice too much?" This part of the interview has aged really poorly, probably like any other interview of a woman during this period.
This is a blatant dude
I think comments were crass, talking about sexy dressing, and I think he made her feel uncomfortable. What a jerk, he issued a great opportunity
This interview makes me uncomfortable. It’s like an interrogation. He’s just showing off his research rather than let Ella speak.
I think this guy is out of his depth talking to Miss Ella.
he's creepy af
(how he's found out personal stuff like her possibly selling her house and her obviously feeling uncomfortable with the question)
It was too boring. This girl was out of her mind in that moment
Whaddya mean?
Brian Linehan was Canada's greatest entertainment tv interviewer. His show City Lights hosted a who's Who of celebs and he was so informed, that many would wonder how he knew a pertinent fact .Please take the time and watch more interviews of his on youtube. He was truly a Canadian national treasure!
