    Do you know what's the difference between "Samyang 14mm T3.1 Cine Lens for Canon EF-Mount" & "Samyang 14mm T3.1 VDSLRII Cine Lens for canon EF" the price difference is almost 100 USD and it looks the same on pictures

    I am told there is a new version of this lens. The VDSLR II ... Any idea if this is a just identical lens with the focus ring moved to be more consistent with other cine lenses on the line. The prices swing pretty wildly on this lens oddly enough. I have found it can drop around 100 in ONE day if you search on Amazon.

      @JohnHarvey Před 5 lety

      I think it's the same as rokinons cine DS line. The only difference is better quality coatings and dual scale. The coatings do help with sharpness in my opinion. None of them are sharp at the lowest aperture though.

  • @Lumencraft-
    @Lumencraft- Před 6 lety

    I've had a tough time getting any images I would call "Sharp" with the 10mm lens. This is probly the softest lens I've eve shot with. The aperture is amazing on this thing though. You can get plenty of light with it. I can turn ISO down as low as with this than my 50mm F1.8

    Hey Sam, thanks for this video. Are you shooting with this lense on this video? I'm looking for a good wide angle lense that allows me to shoot in smaller rooms that may put by subject closer to the lens (with a 2 T shot) but will still have that depth of field that can still allow me to create that cinematic look.

    T stop is not a light that hit the lens, it is light that lens transmiting to the sensor.

    Hello Sir I bought used 14mm T3.1 lense yesterday. I love to shoot a landscapes and milky way.
    As I watch your video and you said that T-stop is better than F-stop.
    Please suggest me is it good for landscapes and milkyway astrohraphy or should I replace it with F-stop ??

    If mounting this lens on Canon eos 700D, does it remains 14mm or 14x1.6=22.4mm?

  • @ParadigmImagesVideoPhotography

    Hello Sam, how about using this lens with the metabone speed booster on the GH4? I have been using Nikon lenses with the speed booster to control the aperture, If I use the Samyang I would have to leave the speed booster aperture wide open and use the lens to control aperture??

    I realize this is an old video. But if you still have the lens do you have any experience with this lens+macro extension tubes for macro photography. I'm searching for a lens which I could use for astrophotography, for which this lens is highly recommended. On top of that with extension tubes the lower focal length creates greater zoom, so if this would also work in such a setup it would be a great find.

    How much difference in glass is between Cine lense 3.1 and ordinary 2.8. I doubt that I will be dialling aperture during the shot, or even if so graduate dial would not be that important to me.

    If this lense is not communicating with the camera so how camera knows what exposure condition of the object. For example if we use 28-135 @ 3.5 aperture Than after that we remove this and put samyang 14 mm manual focus @ 2.8 aperture than how can we cammunicate to our camera about that. Answere Please

    No point in reviewing a lens lie this on crop... because youll get the same results of a 14mm prime lens which doesnt weigh as much and can have stabilisation. This is a lens designed for full frame.

    • @sambeckman
      @sambeckman  Před 8 lety +2

      +The Vegan Cyclist Hey man - yeah you can buy this lens with an E-Mount BUT I reckon you'd probably be better off getting a Canon mount and then a cheap adapter. But it's completely up to you. I'm guessing you're asking whether you can Vlog with this lens.. well yes you can - but it's manual focus, which probably isn't super ideal for vlogging.

    HI, What diférence this T3.2 and f/2.8?

    • @allthepeeps90
      @allthepeeps90 Před 7 lety +1

      F stops is the literal size of the aperture - how wide it can open. T stops is approximately how much light the lens captures. So let's say a lens is f/1.0. This lens' aperture can open up to 1 f stop, but that doesn't mean it's capturing an entire stop of light. There is a small amount of light that the lens looses before it gets to the camera sensor. So in reality, it is capturing around 1.3 stops of light - the T stop.
