  • Sasakawa Launches construction of One-stop Center for Farmers in Otuke & Abim
    Farmers have been rallied to embrace value addition for better returns of their yields. Development partners are concerned that most farmers take projects delivered to them as handouts and fail to make the best use of them to transform their lives.
    Ambience
    Farmers always struggle for months to reap from their fields. But most times earn poorly from their sweat due to lack of market and value addition facilities. To enhance quality of produce for exportation Sasakawa Africa Association has commissioned the construction of a one stop facility in Otuke and Abim districts.
    In Otuke where a cereals processing facility will be planted, farmers say they spending a lot transporting their produce to Lira and Soroti for processing. Transporting a sack costs about 10k and hiring a truck costs about 500-600k.
    Otuke is one of the districts that suffered adverse effects of climate change and some hunger related deaths were also reported.
