Nearly the end of 2023, and the GH5S is still working great for me. I am saving up for a G9 II, but that doesn't mean the GH5S will get retired, it will simply share the load with its younger cousin.
After wasting a lot of money on Full Frame Sony cameras. I realise how great the GH5S is, and will no doubt switch back pretty soon. The small form factor and weight of these are so good, plus the smaller lenses are so great for travel. I traded mine in for a A7S III and find that camera so boring and will no doubt flip it on eBay at some stage soon. Thanks also, for the kind words you left on my video from 2020. Great work man.
Great review my friend. I agree with all of the things said. I have moved onto Sony's a7s iii (mostly due too 4k120 for a movie I'm filming) but, I will always miss the GH5s and GH5, they were amazing cameras. ABSOLUTELY still worth it in 2021 and beyond. That 4k60 is futureproof for sometime still! Even Sony's a7r iv and a9ii STILL don't have 4k60. 4k60 is a must for my line of work, honestly too, the files from the GH5's were MUCH MUCH easier to handle in post than the a7s. Battery life is definitely better than the a7s iii. Also the build quality was something that cant be beat with the GH5. Absolute tanks, even my $3500 a7siii feels equivalent too the GH5. Keep the GH5 man, it's amazing. I cant wait for a new Panasonic Full Frame that keeps up with the new A1 and R3 or R5. Nice video and your onto something with CZcams, your personality fits it well. Keep up the good work.
Well thank you! The GH5S definietly keeps up with most cameras in every way even with the higher end cameras due to its raw update. Panasonic has the best updats from any system.
Also... Straight 24fps and an OLPF. Moire be gone!! I just shot a feature on my s5, and getting a DCP is a problem now because it only shoots at 23.976. I didn't know. :-) I was going to get an s1h for my next, and all future projects, but I'm thinking seriously of getting a gh5s, because it also solves all my problems. And I use mostly vintage lenses, I have three Minolta rokkor lenses, and a Helios 44-2, which I'm sure I can adapt all of them to this camera. I work with anamorphic a lot as well, and they're really inexpensive for micro 4/3. I'm thinking about it. :-) You might have just extracted money out of my pocket, but actually saved me a ton compared to a used s1h, since now you can get one of these gh5s' for like $700 on ebay, or even B&H and Adorama... they're that cheap. Hi I am new to this and shooting on a GH5S. How do you get the opportunity to shoot commercials for these brands such as apple jax? Do you just shoot it yourself and shop the footage to them? Or contact them first and they hire you to do it?
