The location for this short piece - the Chapel - is in the heart of the Gothic Palace, formerly part of the
Islamic enclosure, which was altered to meet the needs of the monarchs of Castile in the mid-thirteenth century. Its austere medieval vaulted spaces were decorated during the Spanish Renaissance with rich tiled skirtings, which date from the latter half of the sixteenth century.

Every note is as clear as a bell. Williams has set the gold standard for classical guitar playing.
If youve ever played guitar, you know how difficult it is to play clearly. To play this, clearly, forget about it. But keep practicing
I do not agree, I am studying this piece and I am listening to many different version of this marvelous piece, of course it is just my opinion, John Williams here didn't use some bass lines (that are written in the music score) to simplify the music and generally he played too much staccato for the entire piece, I prefer way more David Russel version, you can find the entire suite played by David. Again, just my opinion, music is subjective and John Williams is an incredible guitar player.
@@NotoriousFunkmaybe cause its his own version?? Idk ive taken things out of songs that didnt please my ear
@@jaydenkenney5281 I personally changed only 1 note in my own version which is a relative major so I did not make lot's of "damages", I only arranged the fingering at my way. The problem is that Bach wrote those basses lines and is not fair especially if you are John Williams to not play it, I understand that in that way is more easy to control but still it's not what Bach wrote and we are talking about the biggest composer ever.
@@NotoriousFunk nah i think you take music too seriously 😂 im sure bach isnt rolling in his grave
My life has been deeply moved by listening to so many Williams masterpieces .
I'm very sure any composer would be not only satisfied. But totally honored for his interpretations
Even a blind listener would recognize that this is Williams interpretation. No one better, fantastic tempo and what a beautiful interpretation.
Yes absolutely. It's amazing how he keeps the rhythm alive, like it rules.
The performance of the Prelude from BWV 1006a by Bin Hu is the best that I've heard.
It remains almost incomprehensible that this is written...in pen and ink and tempo...🤯
Indeed ❤
Yes, he inherited the signature of the maestro Andres Segovia as his disciple
I've been a huge fan of John's for the past 5 decades. He is magnificent.
JW is one of a kind. Always perfect and never seems stressed in the least.
There is something about John Williams exquisite sound. Virtuoso, of course. But the clarity of his notes, his impeccable tempo. Is just immaculate. Absolutely the way this piece was meant to be played. It transports you...
The perfect combination of performance and composition. Thoroughly absorbing.
I normally just play punk music, power chords and 5 note riffs, but this is so beautiful and inspiring
The world's greatest guitarist!
Even with nowadays young virtuosos, Williams astonishes me each time i listen to his performances. Just perfect.
Williams & Bream set standards that even today, players
seek to aspre to.
I was listening to one of those young virtuosos (Stephanie Jones) a couple of days ago playing this, and was thinking that hers was one of the best performances of this piece that I have ever heard. Then dropping by here to hear John play it again, it's "Yeah, John, you're the gold standard."
@@JOHN-tk6vl Speaking of Bream and Williams, you have seen the video of them playing _Clair de Lune_ together, haven't you?
Without doubt the greatest classical guitarist of all time
Paco de Lucia has that title, sorry.. John Williams is amazing, but Paco would play circles around him at ease. Just listen to Paco - Reflejo de luna. Man thinks his guitar is a piano
@@rykehuss3435Paco de Lucia was a flamenco guitarist, not a classical guitarist. He couldn’t play these pieces at 50% of the proficiency that Williams does. It’s not remotely close.
@@mjdillaha Same could be said vice versa. I know theyre different style guitarists, so what?
@@rykehuss3435 It’s certain that John Williams could play significantly more flamenco guitar than Paco de Lucia could play classical, because flamenco is t nearly as difficult. John is easily the superior guitarist here.
@@mjdillaha Disagree
This one took me an entire summer to learn. Wake up and practice or learn a new section each day. I'm convinced it is impossible to sight read guitar. But it was quite the journey none the less. Oh yeah, I probably have forgotten it by now. But I probably could pick it up surprisingly quick!
Thsi is a prfect performance in my humble opinion. :-) Technically superb. totally musical and unhurried.
Williams es el mejor del mundo. Lo escuché cuando vino a México y fue sublime, increíble, maravilloso. Viva John Williams.
he is just simply the best
Outstanding performance
Sometimes when I watch John Williams play I get the impression that he is just watching -- like I am -- as if he's really not doing anything, but that his hands are acting on their own.
First class muscle memory.
another virtuous performance by the most methodical assassin of the modern classical guitar repertoire of all time. The GOAT. Listen in high definition/ headphones and sounds like an entire sympathy all melodies clearely defined and separated
Genius
Odd, having watched and listened to this many times, I have just done so through a good pair of headphones. All you describe was true.
Magnificent.
Goat yeah only one
just happy to be here yet again listening in high definition earphones
perfect on any level
one of the greatest recordings that will ever be
siempre me ha facinado la técnica de Jhon Williams.
increíblemente limpio.
si pero es Narciso yepes.
@@miguelangelherraiz549 te habrás equivocado de video. Yo miro a John Williams 😄
His Dad first and then Segovia tought him sooo well! He simply is wonderful. The absolute pinnacle of classical guitar playing.
Both beautiful, and impressive; just remembering that entire piece, let alone the impeccable technique to actually play it. Thanks so much.
John Williams-simply the best.
Remember the man that wrote this incredible music was born in the 1600'S. From the 16th through the 19th century European composers wrote the most beautiful music ever, there will never be another period in history like that. Their music has been played for hundreds of years and will be continue to be taught in the finest music schools for centuries to come. Nothing can or ever will compare to it.
By such performances we are assured that the miracle and genius of JS Bach will capture the hearts of gifted players and continue on forever.
How times did Bach use this theme under different titles? On the violin it's the prelude of Partita no. 3. On the organ it's Sinfonia to Contata no. 29. Did Bach plagiarize himself?
MAGNIFIQUE !!!
Mes sincères félicitations monsieur!
Legendary guitarist
I
Absolutely a stunning performance as is the whole
Suite!
Thank you very much for sharing this amazing performance!
I am a huge fan of the John Williams version of Bach's lute suites. It is always great and inspiring to see Mr. Williams' sublime technique and performance.
Absolutely perfect!
Williams has always been distinguished in his superior clear and flawless playing. Specially for Bach, where such an aspect is important in order to really appreciate the counterpoint. I have not heard anyone better than Williams play Bach on guitar.
Ida Presti perhaps?
Outstanding
Simplemente maravilloso, magnífico 🥺💚💚💚

Excellent as usual. Perfect. thank you John

If only I could see him play this again but in Seville
This is definitely the best interpretation of this song ever...

Belíssimo. Extraordinário. Fantástico. Obrigado pela partilha.
La perfezione assoluta con acustica fantastica
I was lucky to meet and take to John at the Rocks in Sydney, years ago.

Gus tempos are perfect... never hurried...
merci pour cette superbe vidéo j'aime beaucoup Narciso yepes.salutations.
I am up awake late again and searching through my videos... Once again i'm so happy I just landed here again.
Nothing is perfect but this is as close as it gets
The theory is that bach did not write this. Although he did own lute's in his collection, the actual transcription came from a student. But something about this transcription is just so Bach-esque. Either this student himself was a master or it came from Bach himself.
Impeccable!! The Greatest..
Magnificent
God bless your hands. Wonderful!
Behold, the "prince" of classical guitar
Wow, this brings back some memories!
I just love this man.....
what an arrangement, love it

Wonderful.
Thank you, that was awesome 🥰
He is Prodigy and a Virtuoso.
Bravo
So chill, so good, so full of pleasure, just enjoying this beautifull song. Nowadays the classical players just want to compete for who plays better, faster, and they forget to ejoy. Very well played!
A master
I will never put my hands on a guitar after seeing Mr. Williams doing his job.
If you want you can, look at Williams as an ispiration, I talk as a student with 7 year of experience, the Guitar like other instrument need time to be learned. You can do It, It takes time.
Лучший виртуоз, что видел.
Such a Master technician....
Flawless
The King
Yep that's all that needs to be said, and didn't that fret board get a good work out!, and didn't JW keep the rhythmical energy going from the first note till the last.
He Is the greatest😊
Brilliant!
Sorry to " over comment "
But Mr. Williams is absolutely impeccable and unmatched and please listen in Hi Def or headphones 🎧
