@@martinlouis911 who says you weren’t it was midnight
@@tinycomedian I definitely was lol
I think it might be more toward the legality of showing smoking on TV and film now.
In most (developed) countries, if a character is smoking on screen; it gets an instant R rating and this would kill the film, show.
Nothing illegal against showing a character blowing bubbles, however.
If you still don’t get it; think of the same way you’re allowed to say one ‘f’ word on TV to still get a PG rating. A PG rating is very important to producers because it means there won’t be any restrictions placed on the distribution and access to the show. Thus, more money.
But you say two or more ‘fucks’ or ‘shits’ and you now have a ‘mature language’ and a restriction placed on your content.
Cigarettes are also no longer tolerated in television programming or film now. It affects ratings.
Wow homages to Evangelion, Akira and FLCL seamlessly fused into one story, and its a good story. Awesome. I would love this to turn into a full spinoff anime show.
What's FLCL?
@@001100AAAEA fooly cooly
Also giving me kino no tabi and serial experiments lain vibes

@@001100AAAEA @AAAEA Yes fooly cooly. Its an awesome show directed by one of the two assistant directors of Evangelion. Its definitely influenced by Evangelion and has some similar themes, but its totally its own thing and has a *radically* different style. A lot of people including me consider it a masterpiece. There's really nothing else like it.
So Delta began dating Summer, and Jerry is Delta… Did he not know he was Jerry? I really hope he wasn’t just outright dating his daughter on purpose.
I think that's also an Eva reference. Cause the one chick was a clone of mc mom I think?
The only thing I took away from this is that you should never entrust Jerry with an extremely powerful super weapon, since he accidentally blew up half the planet by being stupid.
I don't think whatever entity that put him in there even informed him that he was being put in a weapon. It's rather difficult to put Jerry at fault here. He really didn't seem lucid.
Are we gonna blame the toothpick for failing to work like a power drill?
i thought we figured that out last season when he thought he was Moses
You can't put the blame completely on Jerry this time, he was forced into this situation. Any normal person can literally fail for not knowing how to use a goddamn giant robot for the first time. Even you won't be able to easily pilot that robot if you are in that situation. This IS rocket science.

Summer's reaction at the end = Asuka's reaction at the end of End Of Evangelion 😂
true
EVANGELION SPOILERS AHEAD! For the whole show but especially for some of the movies. Also a hearty serving of Evangelion story theory.
The vibequivalence I thought about: Summer finding out her "boyfriend", the pilot of the Gotron (and the guy she wanted to ×××× and ××××) is...her dad
=
-Somewhat- like if Shinji were to fully learn and understand that his Eva unit is basically his "dead" mother, and all that implies, instead of what he learned about this in the actual show (just a never-explained, near-death seemingly hallucinated moment of feeling reunited with her and protected by her), he would probably start out with a similar expression, and word choice as Summer at the end of this video, but any lightheartedness like the amount in Summer's reaction(relatively. ... no pun intended >_>) would fade immediately as realization sunk in for Shinji, followed by panic, building up to overwhelming horror, rage, guilt, sadness, pain and loss, that he would just break, and truly refuses to pilot ever again (or stops getting out of bed) (or successfully awakens unit 01 only to destroy his father and Seele and Nerv instead of following their orders); probably why he was not told, it would have affected his usefulness to the plans of his father and Seele. And they did want him to break, just not in a way that might involve him *rejecting* the Eva instead of using it to accomplish the goals of their "human instrumentality project").
Also, The way Jerry absorbed all the knowledge of humanity reminded me a lot of how in End of Evangelion, everyone is turned to a sea of LCL, joined into a single entity, and loses the boundaries that differentiated them and concealed individual thoughts, feelings, memories, experiences.
The reason I put this here: the scene at the end, with Jerry climbing out of the mech, and Summer going "oh god, gross", was the part that reminded me of that same scene with Asuka.
In the very last scene of the End of Evangelion movie, similarly to Summer here, Asuka says one word (also the last word before the end): "disgusting".
When Asuka says that last word, it appeared on the surface to be a reaction to Shinji choking her. But her body language was not that of someone reacting to being choked; she lay still with a thousand mile gaze looking past the Shinji in front of her, and as her body must have begun to beg for air, she didn't heed even her own survival instinct...simply reached up and gently touched his face. (perhaps it was more like she was instead remembering, reacting to, even reliving, a memory. An intimate memory. One of Shinji's that she discovered during Instrumentality...)
(I also suspect she did that because she finally understood what Shinji had craved and wanted from her all this time, what he desperately needed in general, and had been unable to articulate requests for...human connection, compassion, to be comforted, to feel cared about, safe, protected, loved.
Maybe Asuka too tested her newfound understanding of him to confirm it; or maybe she only did this because she now knew it would be the lowest effort way to get him to stop strangling her? The next word out of her mouth being anything but compassionate makes me lean toward the theory that she did it to verify what she learned during Instrumentality Time really was true and not a dream, similar to why he was choking her, or that she saw enough of Shinji's inner self during Instrumentality that she didn't need to test.)
Indeed, her entire reaction to Shinji in that final scene on the beach, she is not reacting to what's happening in that moment. She is reacting to having just seen Shinji's memory of what he did in the very first scene, in her hospital room, while she was unconscious...
And the reason he chokes her right after they wake up as individuals again: to test if it had again become possible to be rejected. Asuka's response also shows him that the physical state of humanity has returned to what it was, with everyone again being individuals with boundaries who are capable of privacy, or at least future privacy, as everyone in that version of the world fully remembered the unfiltered thoughts saw in the minds of those close to them when they had all been orange juice together).
Sorry this got long, whoops

"Form is emptiness, emptiness is form" is quoting the "Heart Sutra" (Mahaprajnaparamita Hridaya Sutra, literally something like "the heart of the boundless perfection of wisdom scripture"), a super important, concise scripture that is fundamental to all Mahayana Buddhism, and recited daily in temples and monastic halls around the world.
It is truly a profound text, and worth studying. If Rick were into Buddhism, I think he'd definitely be into the Zen of old Japanese warriors... *or* the psychedelic magick of high Tibetan Tantra.
(Mahayana is an umbrella term for several later forms of Buddhism that developed as Buddhism traveled East from its origin in Nepal/India and blended with far-Eastern thought such as Confucianism and Shinto in China and Japan, and shamanism--"Bon"--in Tibet)
Thanks for that info!
I like how Anime Rick is practically a living Buddha.
Opposed to our Rick who is anti religious due to knowing multiple dimensions
I was looking for this comment because this Rick has to be my favorite version for that reason. The Rick we travel with is a nihilist verging on a absurdist but this version of Rick is a existentialist in the traditional sense.
He isn't arguing over the fatality of their actions or the universe but our issue of wanting more in a material world. He is content and even excited to find meaning in his life through the crazy things he puts himself into to find a experience that I can only describe as a personal catharsis.
Rick's Noble Truth: Nothing matters...
Yup, "form is nothingness and nothingness is form" is from the Heart Sutra. It's one of the core tenants of zen buddhism, which is itself fairly nihilistic, so it fits.
@@alexisislas-gonzalez5991 Anime Rick does, too, I am positive. Its just a different cultural spin they take on Rick's personality and philosophy! I love it! XD

Jerry referring to himself as “boku” instead of the more adult “watashi” or “ore” was a good touch.
What does this mean ?
@@delaneyklutes5579 I think he meant like the word guy, dude, man.
Because they sound different but they're still the same.
@@delaneyklutes5579 Boku is an honorific often used by young boys or young men, I think it kinda underlines Jerry's general inmaturity. Because adult males will more often use Ore in a casual setting or Watashi in a formal setting. It's a little bit of characterization through his speech patterns.
@@delaneyklutes5579 Boku is a first person pronoun reserved for boys. It’s not an honorific. Honorifics are like “Go-“, “O-”, “-san”, “-kun”, “-chan”
Boku is used similar to “I” in English.
There’s other personal pronouns like “atashi” for girls, watashi (for mainly adults or referring to yourself in a class), and ore (mainly for pompous, arrogant men… a younger Rick would likely use “Ore”)
The oddity of a middle aged man like Jerry using Boku is strange and shows his stupidity or insecurity. By the time someone is 20 you’d likely use watashi regardless of gender.
A good example is “Boku no Hero Academia”, in that way it’s used as “My”, Boku no Hero Academia directly translates to “I’s” Hero Academia. However in English we have a possessive pronoun “my”. “No” in Japanese is a possessive particle. “Zelda no Densetsu” directly translates to Zelda’s Legend but we prefer to say Legend of Zelda.
Actually Boku is more casual and sounds more intellectual to either watashi and ore. I speak Japanese btw

My take:
1) Jerry (a random everyday nobody) was made to be the pilot against his will by an unknown ancient superior race to decide if the world is worth saving or not (like Shinji from Evangelion/ RahXephon/ Gurren Lagann).
2) In doing so, he inadvertently wielded the power of God in his hands, which allowed him to see himself in the ethereal presence of others whom he loves dearly (his family or Summer specifically) regardless of space/time (also like Evangelion + Gurren).
3) Summer is one of the few things in his life that gave him a father's happiness, which is why when he can appear anywhere & anytime in existence... He still wanna see his family - Summer. And decided that the world is worth saving despite how everyone around him has treated him & that the pain is worth living through just so he can experience that fatherly love again. Jerry did enough for humanity's survival but wasn't perfect, hence the post apocalyptic world, at least his daughter & some semblance of society is still alive at the end there (Similar to End of Evangelion).
4) Rick & Morty were just observers in all these, Rick saw this coming in this dimension and just monitored with Morty (and only intervened a little bit & bantered with Beth) for fun. They probably went back to their own dimension off-screen.
5) Summer in the end, decided that being God (like Jerry here) or dating with a digital God (Delta) is overrated and chooses instead to just be a regular person in this post apocalyptic world, going to a _fun_ place at the end there, doing whatever she wants ~
6) *Spoilers to Evangelion*
Just like how Shinji's mother's soul is inside EVA-01, Jerry's soul is inside this Gotron-looking robot; possibly subconsciously, attending to Summer's requests as Delta. It's also possible that Delta is Gotron's default A.I. and received Jerry's essence & influence to want to take care of Summer.
Your first point is wrong, there was no deciding if the world was worth saving. Earth was a fluke the creator race in Evangelion made two seeds that held the template for all life, planets were supposed to get one or the other because if you mixed both you'd get another creator race. If a planet got both the Lance of Longinus both seeds carried would come into play and whichever seed got there first would destroy the one that got there second. Except it didn't really work and the second seed that came to Earth, Adam, wasn't destroyed entirely but was rendered dormant. Smash cut to the Second Impact where some idiots believing they'd found a superior being woke him up.
The horribly convoluted plan in Evangelion was to smash all of humanity's consciousness together inside an EVA with Seele as the dominant personality (somehow) to become a superior being.
The whole is humanity worthy comes from a depressed, traumatized fourteen year old whose got PTSD from fighting monsters in a world where no one seems to understand or care about him debating whether or not to let Seele's plan go forward, to kill everyone, or to stop the Third Impact.
If you watched Evangelion, Jerry is this version of Shinji. A peice of trash.

Wow, this genuinely feels like an anime, just with Rick and Morty. It's insane how accurately they managed to capture all the subtle stylistic choices that make anime such a unique medium, from the dialogue, to the art style, to the story, and even the voice acting.
I mean, this short was produced by an actual anime studio.
@@ldiod4374 Really? That's awesome! What studio was it?
Edit: Nevermind, I found it in the description.
@@ldiod4374 Wow, this studio did Lupin the Third and the director, Takashi Sano, worked on a bunch of anime I like including Neon Genesis Evangelion, Higurashi Gou, Psycho Pass, and Ghost in the Shell.
@@professornebula6545 oh dang! Higurashi Gou?
@@professornebula6545 watch the rick and morty vs genocider anime short....It was SO good. IT was 10xs better than this one in my opinion. Actually managed to bring tears to my eyes
I’m so glad they’re still animating these.
This is somehow more out there than the actual show and it goes even harder into the absurdity and existentialism
Honestly I wish the actual show had more episodes like this
Things that are just different
Now I just blaze through the seasons and wait for the "canon episodes"
Jeez. That was like a whole movie's worth of plot in 15 minutes. MatPat's gonna be like "THIS WASN'T IN MY SCHEDULE!!!"
This is just your theory.
Hopefully that means like a 40-60 minute episode picking it apart, even though his voice is annoying as hell I could watch him for hours.
@@shiroyt4185 A verdatum theory annnnnd cut.
@@zanelampen5288 Heh, he uses a technique sometimes referred to in the broadcasting industry as "mic puking". It used to be popular among morning-radio "wacky" DJs. Nearly everyone who uses the technique admit that they find it horrible and annoying too, but they do it because it's weirdly effective. It gets peoples attention for whatever reason.
I was expecting the real Rick and Morty to come out of that portal into Anime world and Rick say "wtf is this s###?!"
I hope that happens in the show :wow a lot of likes maybe the creators will do this
or like the other way around
Awesome JOB
this was creative fire!! Mad respect.
The mecha sound FXs were so on point, fantastic episode!
This could be the most spiritually engaging Rick and Morty episode throughout the show. And not just cause of the family dinner scene.
nah man....watch the rick and morty vs genocider anime short....That one was even better!
Bout time somebody said it, asé
@@angel8977 i said it on a film theory vid about it
They did an amazing job
2:07 Two crows
I’m not sure what I just watched, but I know I liked it.
Exactly like a rick and Morty episode
i was trying to work out what i wanted to say, but your comment will suffice lol
@@thedepression950 but japanese lol
Then I recomend you watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, this is heavily inspired by that godly piece of animation
I think we all know why Rick was so invested in the Gotrons a few episodes ago, huh.
because he's a closet weeb =P
He wanted to be the one to F&%$ Jerry?
wait you actually understood something from this?
I'm Japanese. Unfortunately, the production of the dubbed version has been suspended since season 3, so I'm very happy that you made this kind of animation!!!!!!
i know i would remember seeing this before, so i figured it was new. i love this and the weird bumpers. with the show's legend firmly secured - it's the only truly free choice to get loose and weird or varied and experimental.
Damn, those poor bug monsters just wanted to tell everyone the cure for AIDS… ;n;
Sadly, for the efforts of those bugs, they will never be understood
So, Jerry went ahead n' let Summer introduce him as her _fuggin' boyfriend_ to his own family? Aight, sure.
After the whole "incest baby" thing, why the fuck not, yo.
Where did the incest baby came from? Summer and Jerry?
@@emericdondonilla4789 From Summer and Morty.
@@leejames8024 how did they create that incest baby? sorry im confused.
Ep 4 when summer donated an egg cell to the US government to attract the giant morty sperm cells so underground man horses can kill them
@@troubletruffle154 wow when you spell out the episode its sounds incredibly ridiculous haha
little exorcises for the mind like this are very good they leave no residue and can be repeated as often as one wishes without fear of damage or distortion.
Adult Swim never seems to fail us
There are people in Japan who have been waiting for the Japanese dubbed version of Rick and Morty since season 4. I sincerely hope that the production of the Japanese dubbed version of Rick and Morty will be resumed.
Thank you for your consideration.
I hope so too, because damn those Japanese voices.
Huh, that's interesting to know. But why don't they just watch the English with Japanese subtitles?
@@thekaz5225 the same reason anime gets dubbed in the US
@@thekaz5225 we do watch western films with Japanese subtitles.
@@jqa16 I'm sure you do, my question was mostly rhetorical because as someone who regularly watches subbed anime even if an English dub is available (I prefer much of the voice acting for the Orginal Japanese version over English re-dub.) That being said I was mostly pointing it out as an easy alternative while waiting for the Japanese re-dub of Rick and Morty.
The new Evangelion movie looks dope!
Also, if you think about it, Jerry is just a grown up version of Shinji (same attitude anyways).
Oh yeah!
Maybe some Serial Experiments Lain vibes there too?
Compared to Evangelion, this is actually good! Evangelion is just old and was kinda good back then for that times standarts
@@FailBanana98 bruh wha
I am sooooo sick and tired of ‘shinji’ type characters now. I can’t stand the pathetic, ‘I’m scared, I don’t know what to do, I don’t understand my powers or realise that I am basically a god, but because I’m a little cry baby; I will keep losing the fight, disappoint everybody and have to spend 87 episodes over 8 seasons to *maybe* develop enough confidence to stumble over defeating the big bad guy’.
It’s copied and repeated so many times (especially in anime) but exists practically in all categories of film and television, books and modern literature.
You’re a god, for fuck sake, stop being a coward and defeat the enemy!
Although I still love Evangelion, even twenty years later I’m old and have grey hair. I just ignore the little cry baby scenes and pay attention to the important parts.
@@DrSardonicus yeah i agree i hate the crybaby characters like season 1 deku and zenitsu but im fine with it in evangelion cause it actually has meaning than random bursts if annoying crying
this was awesome
Just when I thought I had a handle of the Series, a whole anime drops & I have to rethink my existence.
Dr Wong is drawn just like the regular one
I mean there’s no difference whatsoever but I like the anime wong more lol
Asian blood.
She's a constant over every universe i guess
She's already Asian
Dr Wrong
Jerry: you turned our son into an Akira!
Also Jerry:
UNDERRATED COMMENT! LEGENDARY TAKE!!
Never thought I'd see Jerry turn into big anime robot
