I know you probably weren't being literal, but I think the main reason Rick doesn't like time travel is because the show is a spin on the movie characters in "Back to the Future": Doc & Marty McFly. Something always goes wrong when Doc (Rick) would time travel in the live-action movie series.
@@hbr4566 Given the writers literally hate you and I...(Because the fanbase acts like it's not filled with a bunch of low iq incels) I don't think they care about mindfucks for the fans, but more of their own interest/artistic vision. If anything, mindfucks are lauded in the show. Rick mindfucks morty all the time to subjugate him for instance (ex. 100 YEARS OF RICK AND MORTY rants/I just saved you because your mom wouldn't accept me back if I didn't bring you with me) . Rick is the writer's ego and morty is what he thinks of fans of R&M. :P However, I believe you're on the right track, I think it's that need for analytical continuity but also majorly creative application. Along with AJ Sweet, I think he's right that it's a major reason if not THE main. But back to your/my point: I think it comes down to time travel is an overabused trope that doesn't behave as a sci-fi component. It acts fantastical because there are no coherent or logical ways to actually build a story based on time travel. It's not complex, it's not sophisticated and it boxes you into very few creative design choices once you apply it. It's just a pile of carbon-copied, paradoxical, low-effort deus ex machinas based on the inherent illogic as a result. Get a bunch of scientists to talk a bunch of BS, literally make shit that sounds smart up with rhetoric in front of a lay person. (go check an april fools video - teaching fake math to students) Odds are, with the authority figures, he feel stupid and incapable of understanding because he's not smart enough. Well turns out the social pressure and self-doubt result in him assuming he's too stupid to figure it out when in reality it's too stupid to be figured out. I would presume that even though they shit on us and think we're stupid(with good reason), they won't insult their own intelligence by making something so low-effort. If time travel is proven possible, I'll rescind my statement and instead say that humans are inherently incapable of understanding such concepts then. (Which I'd extend to say that's why it becomes a trope because we can only come up with so many paradoxical logics that we can suspend belief in if we're not capable of full perception of the reality) I think even the universe itself physically says time travel as fantastically presented is stupid too. (I mean...if it could possibly work, where are all the time travellers in every generation ever...) Now world-line branching? Up in the air still, plausible, tons of story uses...Unlike fantasy time travel, world-branches tie together not just sci-fi components, but faults in episodic story delivery, etc... It "automatically" fixes what would otherwise be a lot of plot holes, and they even utilize that aspect to jerk you around a bit. R&M uses alt-timelining so consistently and effectively I'm actually impressed. In the end, this is stil scifi fantasy, an entertainment show written by laymen, for laymen...So I can only imagine writing it is done because they legitimately enjoy the process personally. It's a bit of a game to write a story like this and see how many monkeys go "oo oo ah ah I am smert because I understand" while you are laughing at them. In essense, a way for them to say, "oo oo ah ah i am smert because i pruf u r dumb" Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the show...as a casual piece of entertainment, but I think the authors would agree it's stupid that people try to justify their scientific expertise because they're in on R&M...It's the same situation as anyone who watches yt videos or reads wikipedia and never does the math, personally walks through proofs, or reads journals to learn. Don't get me wrong, yt can be a great resource (especially lectures), wikipedia can be a great keyword resource, intuition is important...But ya need both...Again, this is just one of those shows that tends to attract pseudo-intellectuals. Edit: my stream of conscious sure is spastic today, sorry for the word vomit adhd.

I hope U guys read what I said and this is my theorie, leave ur opinions ! Morty on 0:00 and 8:03 are not saying the same thing which means that it's not a loop cuz something is different. What if Morty on begining is our Rick in series? That would be reason why he is so depressed and he is not original Rick in series . Why? Well.. Rick here is more happier and childish than Rick in series also we know that in season 1 when Beth told Rick that he was missing all these years,he can't be their Rick cuz he is Morty from timeline where this happened. Rick who gave Morty that potion also left his phone in that room which we can see later when Jerry calls, wich means that morty(who became Rick)came to that dimension to replace original Rick. Also when Rick shows up behind evil Morty we can hear him saying "so this is ur timeline" wich means that he time traveled and that's why Rick in series is saying that time travel is pointless cuz he know from his experience. BUT WAIT, let's get back to real Rick (the one who gave Morty a potion). He said to Morty "...do u remember from season 2..." Hold up. I know he broke 4th wall but... Does this means that we are watching from begining our Rick and Morty? And this is what happens in the end? Wich will result in loop where Morty become Rick, replace him in other dimension etc.. But.. I said on begining that it can't be loop cuz mortys are not saying the same thing at begining and in the end. Let's talk about grandfather paradox. So guy go back in time, kill his grandfather wich will result that guy was never born and didn't killed his grandfather wich will result that guy is born and would go back in time and kill his grandfather etc in endless loop. Is this situation similar here? Possibly. That's why there is not 1 loop but 2 loops, that's why mortys are not saying the same thing, something is slightly different wich result in 2 very similar loops. But what about Jerry? He is so happy when he calls Rick(Morty) and says that he got kid who's named Morty. He is happy, and he likes Rick, that's not Jerry from series!!! This could mean 2 things. FIRST: there are 2 loops wich means JERRY who likes Rick and JERRY who doesn't like Rick. Second: we know that Rick and Morty fucked up their dimension in season 1 and maybe Jerry in that dimension is Jerry who called Rick. In the end THEY ARE NOT ORIGINAL FAMILY,except summer and beth because we know that Rick is not grandfather to Morty cuz RICK is MORTY and Morty is not original brother to summer and they also replaced Jerry with another jerry in that one episode wich means that only Beth and summer are from same dimension.
I would personally LOVE an entire season in this style. The art style, the voice actors, that authentic anime feel without just being overly generic, it's all phenomenally made.

A bit of translation help: The Japanese script mentions "Urashima Taro" instead of Rip Van Winkle when Rick gives Morty the serum. In Urashima Taro, a man saves a turtle from children that were toying around with it by putting it back in the ocean. A couple days later, that turtle comes back and takes him to an underwater palace to meet the princess there. The man and the princess spend a week together, but he has to go home to tend to his parents. Dismayed, the princess gives him a box and tells him never to open it. When the man returns home, everything is gone: his home, his parents, and everyone he knew. He ends up opening the box, and he becomes an old man. So in this version, Rick and Morty go on a ton of adventures together (duh). When time's up, instead of a box containing old age, Rick gives Morty a serum containing all of his memories that turns him into Rick. Present Rick sacrifices himself to blow up the spaceship and thwart Evil Morty (who is the Morty who didn't take the serum). Present Morty takes the serum that turns him into Rick right up until future Morty is born. Rick and Morty go on a ton of adventures together again.
“Rick and Morty fans did not ask for this.” We sort of did. There’s been more than one Rick and Morty short anime over the years (Genociders comes to mind) and they’ve done really well. I would definitely watch this.
MultiTarded except in the other anime episode they didn’t even mention the main series at all. In this one they called Rick C-137 and straight up started referencing past episodes.
The thing that made this even more accurate to an anime is the fact that there are constant frame rate changes which really gives anime their signature look and this kind of got me thinking “what if the fighting scene was just the same frame rate?” would have been really cool
It seems like this is canon, with evil morty desiring ricks mind. What i may extrapolate from that ending is that morty is rick, and rick created an egg bubble reality where he can go on adventures with himself (or a younger self). The grandfather paradox is strong, where morty has memory of how rick solves their problems/rick remembers how to ex machina the situation before it happens
@@oneiroagent This would be wholesome, but i do actually think this is just a matter of "cultural translation", because the japanese language cares a lot about respect and politeness, so Morty calling Rick, an older person and granfather, just as "Rick" would be considered rude, hence they probably adapted to "grandpa"
@gustav since they totally dipped into some animations (having one other short that was about a samurai Rick lol) I can honestly say, I can relate this to Gintama. That being said, this short could be anything, could be nothing. Either way, it still matters, and its still Rick and Morty.(:
Well, not if you use Rick c137, because then you are not just creating some alternate dimension or timeline where fuck the consequences, go nuts, you are explicitly using the main Rick
Japanese version: "It's just going to be you and me after this, Morty! We'll go on an adventure together." Australian version: "MORTY *beep* MORTYYYYYY *beep beep* GET IN THE FUCKIN CAR MORTYYY. WE GOTTA GO TO BENDIGO TO GET ME CEUB MORTY"
Japanese: I'll be back before long morty and I'll take care of our timeline Australian: I got a gun Morty, and I'm gonna kill you Morty, YOURE ACTUALLY GONNA DIE!!!??!!

Rick C-137 know about Morty because he look him in others dimentions - The protagonist Morty is a memory - Evil Morty tells to Memory Morty that "The Genocider" wants kill all Mortys, but its a lie - Rick C-137 gives a drink for Memory Morty, this transform that memory to a REAL person, and transform into Rick C-137, with all his memorys. - Rick C-137 die in the explosión, but survive translate his being to Memory Morty.
i do really like the art style decision, it makes this look really unique and still resembling the original look and not just making everyone look "generic anime" like fans do
It's animated entirely by a Japanese studio that did the first episode of Gotham Knight in the past and have a good relation with crunchyroll . It was necessary because otherwise it would be impossible to match the mouths to the Japanese voice.
I find it so actually funny how many people think this is the happiest and most wholesome Rick and Morty episode when it's actually so freaking dark. Rick faked his death and gave Morty a serum that literally turned Morty INTO Rick C137. He manipulated everyone so hard in the Rick-est way possible and it worked so well that even the *viewers* fell for it.
This is the same as watching an episode of an anime somewhere in the middle without prior knowledge, and then you go and watch the past episodes and still don't understand what the hell is going on.
This basically tells us that the fan theories everyone had won't be in the actual show. I feel like they made this to appease the fans who wanted Evil Morty to be Rick's original Morty and for Morty's to actually be young Rick's.
It´s possible with how they trolled theorist with train story however they went through a lot to say in this episode that this is C137 Rick. Why not make this alternate reality alltogether if what you say is true? Gratned its maybe another trolling, but there is also possiblity it isnt.

However, I believe you're on the right track, I think it's that need for analytical continuity but also majorly creative application.
In essense, a way for them to say, "oo oo ah ah i am smert because i pruf u r dumb"
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the show...as a casual piece of entertainment, but I think the authors would agree it's stupid that people try to justify their scientific expertise because they're in on R&M...It's the same situation as anyone who watches yt videos or reads wikipedia and never does the math, personally walks through proofs, or reads journals to learn. Don't get me wrong, yt can be a great resource (especially lectures), wikipedia can be a great keyword resource, intuition is important...But ya need both...Again, this is just one of those shows that tends to attract pseudo-intellectuals.

Jerry less of a fuck up?
*IMPOSSIBLE*
I like how this was made a couple years ago, but they teased the whole " teeth" thing from season 5

My dude, thanks.
Well that was, a rather interesting story.
rip van winkle is still a a pretty close analogy, i still got that morty drinking the serum would turn into an "old man" ie. rick
Huh, well thanks for explaining that.
Except this is Evil Morty's timeline and Rick doesn't even remember being there.

@MultiTarded but it literally says c-137 if this is cannon its our rick
That would be so awasome in many ways

@MultiTarded That's convincing too 👍
Blue vial is responsible for ricks blue hair im calling it now
The thing that made this even more accurate to an anime is the fact that there are constant frame rate changes which really gives anime their signature look and this kind of got me thinking “what if the fighting scene was just the same frame rate?” would have been really cool

This basically tells us that the fan theories everyone had won't be in the actual show. I feel like they made this to appease the fans who wanted Evil Morty to be Rick's original Morty and for Morty's to actually be young Rick's.
But also everything rick and morty is canon and not at the same time
It´s possible with how they trolled theorist with train story however they went through a lot to say in this episode that this is C137 Rick. Why not make this alternate reality alltogether if what you say is true? Gratned its maybe another trolling, but there is also possiblity it isnt.
Still I dont understand who really Evil Morty is...
Which is kind of stupid and no real plot twist
@@amogussussusamogus it has not been fully revealed yet. this is the closest we have gotten to an explanation
so weird hearing Morty calls Rick 'Grandpa' instead of just his name.
Also Jerry of all people.
I didn’t see him call him grandpa once
William Phillips because he called him rick guy mixed things up
@@williamphillips2671 Every time the subtitles said "Rick" when Morty was speaking, the word he said wasn't "Rick", it was "oji-san" which means "Grandpa". Morty never actually called "Rick" by his name during this entire short.
Calling your grandpa by his name in Japan must be a mortal sin
I fascinates me how they actually put the effort in to tie it together in some way or another, then again you’d really have to look hard of where you could fit this in as the “anime universe Rick and Morty”
The most wholesome Rick and Morty episode lol. Amazing work here
That “Akira” reference was something else.
Why "akira" it was a akira reference
I missed it guys where was it placed
i didnt catch it, tbf i haven't seen akira in years
Its the city exploding
2nd Akira reference in Rick and Morty. 1st was the episode where Morty has the Death Crystal.
This is like unironically wholesome how kind Rick is and how much Morty wants to help
Very wholesome unlike you
Maxy Snaxy yeah
Flying Flanker joshu is a literal simp
@@maxysnaxy6648 facts 😳
Rick is Morty.
I literally just now got that ricks entire emotional goodbye was to his reflection
most wholesome moment of Rick and Morty.
also did not know this anime short existed till now.
Just realized that the Rick who died and the Morty who became Rick, will never return to their original family who is still thinking that they are out on one of those daily adventures and will be back on dinner table by night.
No rick was always morty, that was probably a clone
@@folake6423 how do you figure
Ayooo❗🗣czcams.com/video/cPLNnQstGq0/video.html
@@killer008r in the video, the rick that went into the space ship, called morty Rick Sanchez right before he left and Jerry calls Rick's phone telling him that Morty was just born which means that his morty wasnt born yet, which is why I'm guessing he did all that to find evil morty.
@@folake6423 wrong
Shit felt really weird seeing Rick not burping between the dialogs.
Dude yes that why something felt off
😂🤣🤮
he did burp a couple times, it just sounded more likea wretch with a bit of a japanese accent lol
@@flexmendelson I was wondering what that was
It gives so much anime movie vibes, especially the atmosphere and sounds
Wouldn't it be a total mind fuck to see Rick and Morty end in a fricken time loop ?
Reminds me of the move "predestination" where the protagonist was his/her own father mother and child aswell as the main villain. It was a good one.
