$10.00? That reminds me of the old joke, “a guy goes into the Proshop and asks if they sell ball markers, the pro says, yep, they’re $1.00 , the guy hands him the dollar and the pro hands him a dime.”😅
lol. Yes
Game changer 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The part that lets you direct it with your putter while standing seems the most helpful
I agree...you can adjust it with a better visual perspective because of that
Many golfers mark a line on their ball. It does the same thing. The real challenge is stroking the putt on that line without pushng or pulling the putter!
Just draw lines with a sharpie on your own plastic or coin ball marker
I have no interest in golf whatsoever but came here from a CAD (computer aided design) software tutorial. The video creator designed a golf ball marker, and I had no idea what it was used for. I figured that as long as I was here, I would leave a comment and click "Like" to feed the CZcams algorithm.
L O L. Well, thank you for the interaction and hope you got some useful information out of the video.
If it's legal under the official Rules of Golf, and IF it helps players alignment, that's fine.
That said, the real skill is in determining the aiming point/line based on the speed of the green and the amount of expected break. If you're aiming at the wrong point, even if you start the ball properly, the ball won't go where you want it to.
Exactly. Thus lots of videos on green reading on this channel and teaching Toor Reading system lessons in person
Do a video on how to figure what part of the ball is heavy.
Actually a good idea
Lines need speed & break too.one tool is good for flat even greens.
Agree but also Good for sloped greens if you read the proper start line
Mr. OP, what putter is that??
It’s Honu. There’s a link to my review of it the the video description on this video
In the video, it appears this product extends above the putting surface when placed on the green as a ball mark. This extension may be of concern to other golfers in the 4some who are putting on a similar line. Their ball may get deflected if it should roll over this ball mark. What do you do if this happens?
It does extend above the surface. With any ball mark, even a flat one, you should always ask people on or near your line and further from the hole than you if they want you to move your ball mark and then move it to the side out of their line...There are legal ways to do ths. Alternatively you could use a flat marker and then switch back to this when it is your turn to putt.
No more so than some of those huge "poker chips" that some use. IMO they should make alignment lines on balls, ball marks, etc illegal. They slow down the game! How many times have you seen someone take inordinate amount of time adjusting and re-adjusting a ball to get it "just right" with their alignment lines. Makes the game slower!
@@timkilmer3893 LOL! That's a very good point. The only time one should use a poker chip as a ball mark is when the golfer is playing in Las Vegas with a beer in one hand and a cigar in the other.
@@brentbillinger6706I like to play with the beer and cigar in the same hand. That way it’s easier to swing the club with the free hand. To each his own though I guess.
Looks like a good product to help shave strokes
where he moves the marker with the putter, no ball there. Didn't think that was allowed. Anyone that can clarify?
PGA USGA and R&A have declared it is allowed
@@misteroneputt Thanks. Learned something new. Use a poker chip with black sharpie line down the middle the same way.
No. Not for me. I have a similar Callaway one. Time consuming. Especially if there’s a 2 ball following you.
Your other tips to align are still the best
Thank you. The appealing aspect for me about this one is because of the way it adjusts the line and from a behind the ball instead of over the ball perspective makes it faster. I do not use a line on the ball personally but if I did this would be my choice.
draw a straight line on a quarter .. or a poker chip..
Brilliant
Interesting but from reading of the rules this would breach Rule 4.3a, below is rules from USGA
If a player places an “alignment device” (see definition in Equipment Rules) to show the line of play and then positions their ball based on the direction of that alignment device, the player is in breach of Rule 4.3a.
For example, a player’s ball comes to rest on the putting green and the player marks the spot of their ball with an “alignment device.” When doing so, the alignment device is placed to show the line of play. If the player then lifts and replaces their ball (which includes rotating it) so that a marking on the ball is lined up with the alignment device, the player is in breach of Rule 4.3a.
Not sure what I am missing but this is clearly and alignment device thus not allowed under rules of golf
Wish it was legal I like the design
The product was submitted with samples to both USGA and R & A and they both determined and provided in writing that it is 100% legal for tournament to play. It was used last week in the Valspar open and accepted.
@@misteroneputtdefinitely shouldn’t be though considering it’s doing exactly what the rule says you can’t do
@@AveryEarnheart they clarified the term alignment device to mean something like a pair of clubs laying on the ground to keep your parallel to your line or an alignment stick or yardstick or something like that, but they considered this ball marker no different than the line on the golf ball itself. I’m not arguing I’m just telling you that’s what the PGA and the RNA both concluded, they defined this as a marker with an arrow and not an alignment device
I think that that rule refers to while making your stroke. You pick this marker up before you make your putting stroke.
@misteroneputt3047 serious what pro would use or need this? Who used it??
Doesn't this feel slightly inaccurate? The line on the marker is centered about an inch behind the ball, so if you line up the line on the marker you're technically always hitting an inch off of what you line up. Am I missing something, or do most people just not care about that inch?
In the video, I accidentally placed it left of the line to show that it was paralle. In reality. You should place the line exactly on the line so that it is perfectly straight and square with each other.
@@misteroneputt appreciate the reply! Still trying to understand the sequencing of how to properly use this tool:
1) place marker directly behind ball with the groove (12 o'clock)
2) align target with line on the marker (say we turn it 2 o'clock)
3) place the ball back and align it with the marker line
I'm understanding step 3 needs to be placed at 12 o'clock to avoid a penalty, are you saying to place the ball back at 2 o'clock, and or do we need to move the marker after putting the ball back to realign?
@@yicktheman for step one I would put the marker on the ground and pick up my ball. point the arrow anywhere or the line anywhere you want. Then I would read the putt and pick a target and for step two I would adjust the line arrow on the ball Mark to point at that target. Then for step three I would put the ball back in the proper position but with the line exactly matching the line on the ball Mark , so the ball line and the ball line are pointed to exactly the same place then I would pick up the ball mark and make my putt. If you have Instagram Alignment Ball Marker, how this is done and looks, and their videos are very good quality.
@@misteroneputt thanks! Yeah sounds like the inch difference between the center of the marker and center of the ball is just considered negligible since the lines are parallel. Appreciate the response!
If you turn the marker line then putt the ball in line with the marker pin then you would be moving your ball to a new spot. Penalty.
You don’t move the ball Mark you spin the top of it to make the line and you would replace your ball like you would normally with any ballmarker and it would not be a penalty unless you did something wrong. That’s why the PGA and the R& A both have provided the manufacturer written letters saying that it is legal but yes, you could use it inappropriately and create a penalty for yourself if you chose to or made a mistake just like most any shot.
Looks like something you pay $1 for 6 at the Dollar store.
The marker is a substitute for the ball so wouldn't moving the marker without the ball being at it's position be a violation of the rules? Ian Poulter lost a match and the championship in Dubai because his ball slipped out of his hand and hit his marker costing him a stroke. Not that we're professionals but rules are rules
Good question, but the manufacturer has letters from PGA and R & A that state it is completely legal
Literally no need. You literally have your marker, find your line then line up your balls line with your visual line. Wtf do you need 2 lines?
Also so many people will be using these illegal cause they will move the alignment then line the ball up on that line which moves the ball left and right of original mark so that illegal
Good grief! 👎
$10 for a piece of plastic, what a joke.
Agree it is expensive, but the guy is getting paid for his innovative idea for that piece of plastic...not for everyone but worth it for some.
Horrible idea
