      Vietnam ain't really a fair comparison, at its height the US had over 600.000 soldiers in Vietnam and throughout 8 years of fighting lost about 50.000. It would be fairer to compare it to being Vietnamese in Vietnam since it was the Vietcong that was getting slaughtered there, not the Americans as stereotypes say.

  • @casbot71
    @casbot71 Před 4 lety +54

    I can already guess your advice for a *Battle of Scarif* video _(besides don't)._
    Volunteer, or just try without telling anyone, to hijack another Imperial shuttle … for the good of the team.
    Another option is to guard Rogue One, maybe in a snipers nest nearby so you can pick off anyone about to destroy your only ticket out of there. Like say a Trooper about to throw a grenade into the shuttle. That way you're not in the ship which is a target, but you can get to it fast if it's about to take off.
    And if you're a Rebel in space, keep your hyperdrive warmed up and ready to jump in a second. You know for a fact that the Imperials will be sending massive backup.
    *If you're on the Imperial side -* hey it's a job, and the pay is decent.
    Try to stay near the ships, now normally the best option is to stay near the control tower as it's heavily defended, or near a completely unimportant system as the control tower is still a priority target if the enemy has the firepower.
    But in this particular situation, a fast escape may be required, don't ask why, it's classified. Although a really fast aircraft may work just as well as a spacecraft. A really, really fast aircraft.

      The mimbanese live in tunnels, just get several lambda shuttles with shock/flame troopers and begin doing morally questionable things before retreating, and also just blow up enemy trenches with ISD's, the coordinates could be sent from CO's on the ground, and even if you hit nothing, it could still act as an anti-tank ditch or a mass grave site.

    • @darkraven5106
      @darkraven5106 Před 4 lety +8

      Khaden Allast yeah, they are worse. They are literally like bringing a WW1 era to fight in the Gulf War. Also, it is hard to take on an enemy from the air (or with orbital bombardment) when they are underground, at of sight of most scanners. That is why the US never were able to just Napalm the Viet Cong, due to their underground tunnel system. And since Mimban is basically the Imperial Era Vietnam, you can guess why it would have been mostly ineffective.

    • @darkraven5106
      @darkraven5106 Před 4 lety +2

      Khaden Allast The whole point of the fighting is to extract it’s resources. Glassing the world doesn’t exactly help do that, otherwise the Imperials would have used that a long time ago on places like Kashyyk, Ryloth, and Jedha.

    "FORWARD!" the command bellowed down the line from every officer.
    Troopers stepped up from the firing step and hauled themselves over the parapet. A great many tumbled face first and landed in the mud. Those behind tripping over their comrades in front. It was a wave of fumbling as we surged out of the trenches and forward. A heavy hand in my back pushed me up and I quickly gained my feet. Some Troopers were turning around to help pull others out. Gradually, things began to evolve into a rush toward the enemy's ridge.
    We leapt over craters that pot marked the ground. Artillery shelling had reduced it to a barren waste. Many of the shell holes were filled with water and would swallow a man if they were unfortunate enough to fall in. There were broken wrecks of AT-DT walkers littered about this ground, as were the discarded bits of Trooper kit -helmets, armor, packs and the like. The bodies were the most unpleasant sight. Thousands of them strewn about, twisted and contorted in every manner. Some blasted in half or with arms or legs missing.
    There was but little time to take in the remains of battle -the advance had to commence. We pressed forward at a brisk pace. Moving over the broken landscape, stepping delicately to avoid setting a foot on a corpse. The more eager, or more insane, Troopers of the battalion broke in to a run -charging headlong to the ridge.

You sunk dozens of civilian ships with no strategic value other than to starve Britain, which they did to you, and have bomb civilian targets. The Entente still think of great calvary charges and spectacular victories while throwing thousands of soldiers into a meat grinder. You literally sent Lenin to Russia to start up a bloody revolution. You know, if you really think about it, the battle of Mimban largely resembles real-life trench warfare in the days of World War I, like the battle of the Somme, for example. With the Imperial Army resembling the Wehrmacht, being heavily outgunned and outplanned by freedom fighters in the trenches, and the Stormtrooper Corps, like the storm units of WW1 acting as the brave and insane elites who charged the enemy trenches. You see where I'm going with this?

    Swamp trooper armor would be what I would use it meet's all the requirements needed in this type of environment, for a semi safe thing to do I would go with sniper, less likely to be doing any charges across dead man's land for one. For a weaponed a blaster pistol for sidearm and a slug thrower configured for sniper work with a silencer, a few grenades of various types.
    Basically I would be using the training I had in the Army, but now in the Star Wars universe instead. As a infantryman you learn what to do and how to survive in all environments, keeping your feet dry and happy is near the top of the list.

    So basically Mimban is WW1 of Star Wars, minus the Heavy howitzers, bunkers, Gas, Tanks and Flamethrowers.
    I think it would be quite interesting if they made a Game all about the WW1 like planets the Republic and Seperatists fought in, Empire and Rebels fought in and actually made it detailed.
    Like a CoD game in Star Wars, straight up Warfare, shows great details, Explosions with rumbling effects, sound of blaster Bolts whizzing by, FPS, loud blaster fire, Air Strikes, Artillery, Realistic mechanics, etc.
    With Campaigns, Weapon loadouts, arcade mode and vehicle customization. With the ability to play either side.
    Yea I'd love that.

    Also some water proof baggies would come in handy. What is the point of bringing dry socks if your pack is just going to get soaked, as well as everything in it? I also would recommend having a personal combat knife. Given the environment, the locals will be able to hide and ambush, meaning close combat is more than likely to occur.
