"I know they're on you Tommy, you sounded like a goddamn maraca 🪇 coming through the door" 😂😂😂
About training throw away pills
No drugs
@@DanBunyan ya don't say?
I thought the old man was complimenting his maraca skills
2:14 "The Devil you know is better than the devil you don't." He delivered that line perfectly, with fire in his eyes....
"You called me. So don't go threatening to walk every 5 minutes" 😂
There's a tournament big tournament big money
Rewinding it and you totally hear the "chk chk chk" when he walks in. So good!
The fact Nolte wasnt even nominated for a big time award for this role is criminal. One of the best most heart breaking characters I've seen.
He received an Oscar nomination, I think
I miss my dad. I understand this scene so well.
It's possible to reconcile.
My father wasn't a drunkard or anything, and he had his reasons for things. He's always been very cold, as we all are in our family. Scandinavian, harsh background, not badly off but a lot of "weight" there. And then my parents' divorce ripped everything up, and I got a hard time in school. Not bad grades, but I did a pretty tough program, and I was constantly on the outside and getting put on by these damn shiksa feminista teachers, etc. Bouncing back and forth between my parents...
Anyway, in the middle of all of this crap, my old man decides to build a house. Which makes financial sense. But there's me, getting roped into that while doing a Baccalaureate and getting ridden and having no creative outlet for anything, and meanwhile my mom's off with a couple of new guys chasing living standards that she's trying not to pay for herself. I'm coming off of just about a year after being bowled through the air by a Passat at 50kph, and now being forced to drag rebar and beams and concrete, it takes an hour and a half to get anywhere, meanwhile I see other people, in the family and out, getting all the support they could need... The whole thing turns absolutely poisonous. I give up hope on my ma, 'cause she's just that selfish and rationalizing that I understand she's never really going to even be able to bear admitting to herself how she's acting...
But I still blame my dad. 'Cause on the one hand he's the one putting the most actual weight on me, and on the other hand I can tell that he's the one who actually cares, but I don't get how he can square that with what he's choosing to do and putting me so low on the list of priorities. So we have a lot of evil, evil arguments, which actually consist mostly of me just standing there and silently raging and looking at him like "I have nothing to actually put up against you, no money or options of my own; but you've seen to that in part yourself, so how the hell? Are you listening to yourself?"
Eventually it goes too damn far. So I beat the shit out of him, and I'm about to do worse. But I stop myself, and then I throw a bunch of clothes in a trash bag, stick it in my teeth, and swim a few hundred meters through Baltic water in goddamn March, and then walk for a day to get over to my mom's place. And I don't talk to him again for a few years.
Anyway, after that we had a long, long process. But between how much I hated living with my mom and biting my tongue, and him getting that "perspective adjustment," we get to sort of realize that we're both f-ed up in a way that at least works together. And eventually he apologizes in a way that I can trust that he understands.
He lives in Portugal these days, so it's not exactly like we're that much in touch, but we have frequent long phonecalls and while I mostly just put up with and otherwise try to stay away from the rest of the family as much as possible, whenever he's up here we always make sure to wine and dine and do something and have thorough discussions and draw engineering ideas and whatnot.
@@Sakhmeov It was domestic abuse in my family. I watched my mum get beat up quite a few times and other things. Then the divorce came and I was having to put up with extreme bullying at school. I ended up getting into Thai boxing as I was leaving school back in 1995 and became a fighter. Still train today as it keeps me grounded and I see it as a gift from God. I was afraid of my dad because of his temper. He mellowed out a bit in his old age but passed away in 2007 before we had a proper heart to heart.
I got to square things with my step father before he died. I told him we would start over and he agreed. It was the thing to do and I am glad I did it. We were good friends for several more years after that.
One of the best movies EVER. Equal to "Man on Fire" etc.
Lol I woulda say all that but none the less its a good ass movie that is very underrated
I love this movie. Hardy is on fire in this film. Nolte is top notch. 👍👍👍🔥
I really liked Christopher Plummer as an actor, but I'm still upset Nolte didn't win best supporting actor for this. He's amazing in this, and I think it will go down as his best work.
You mean Nick Nolte?
I completely agree! All three main performances were truly exceptional, the film was exceptional, and this was Nolte’s best!
@@gabeschoppet5059 could you not be bothered to finish reading my comment before you corrected me?
@@stephengrigg5988 my bad man had a bit too much to drink that night. God bless and good point.
@@gabeschoppet5059 I guess drunk messaging on CZcams is better than drunk texting your ex. No worries
The nerve of coming to somebody for help and asking them like this is crazy😂😂😂
I think he believes he's owed the training because of the abuse he received from his father as a child
🤣🤣 when you find out your teacher is gangster, homeboy can fight 😂
Guess I forgot to put that down on my application 🤪
If you need someone to play a beleaguered administrator you call Kevin Dunn. The guy is the Tom Hardy of sitting behind a desk and yelling "Are you out of your mind?!"
I absolutely love this observation 😂
played similar role in True Detective
this movie doesn't git enough love
Why did no one see this movie when it came out….Oscar worthy and tear inducing.
I read that this film was shown in small cinemas on the outskirts of cities. and the film Solt with Jolie was shown on the central screens of large cinemas. Therefore, the Warrior walked past the spectators.
I love how badass he is in this scene with his dad but then he’s so polite to the waitress I always find it funny when he’s like “Sure thank you”😂
Yeah, I noted that too. It shows Tommy's got more dimension than just an angry young guy.
There should be a prequel to warrior. Would love to see how dominant Tommy was back in the day!
Nah they always f up sequels
@@thehealthylife5715he said prequel
Reminds me of Rich Man, Poor Man. Tommy Jordache has matured some! 😂
LOVE THIS MOVIE
Tom Hardy is awesome, but his nose looks perfect for a fighter. He’s still the best
Agreed 🔥👍✌️
Mr Nolte the Legend
Gonna get yourself killed I fought for a living guess I forgotten to put that on my application lol
Tom Hardy my great British love❤
Nick nolte....a whole new level
This solidified me as a Hardy fan…. Then Peaky Blinders came … and WOW… and he’s a Dog lover in real life?!?!? ❤❤❤❤❤
This is a MAN
👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰
“I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you if you did.” Tom Hardy forgets the accent and uses his very own in this shot. An editing error I suppose, because before and after - same scene - he’s in character.
Who cares! He's a terrific actor. Who you wanna see Shia Labeouf? 😂
Here comes the boom 2 !
Well, damn…. I’m gonna have to watch this movie now. I’ve seen some of the more common action clips, but this looks like it’s got something to say
👍👍👍👍🔥
A real dad pays attention to everything I heard the pills when you💪💪 walked in the door.
If he was a UFC fighter, which is a big deal to be good enough to get into the UFC, even if you’re not in the big fights, how did the background check not catch that?
As someone with a security clearance, I can say that most background checks are rather simple, and can miss a lot. Also, the UFC is completely legal, so the only issue the school has is their image. And a standard background check would never have flagged him for his legal career in the UFC. I suspect that, in real life, he could have easily sued for discrimination and won handily. He'd get back pay and reinstatement, also damages. But he was up against a wall with his overdue mortgage, so he had to do something faster.
@@dustinwilson4815 that’s actually very interesting, thank you for explaining that so well.
This was made in 2011 and assuming that’s the year here and he’s been a teacher there for at least 5+ years he would have been in the UFC in the early 2000s it was nowhere close to where it is today.
@@jdaily2293exacly look at Ken steroids shamrock he's been fighting since UFC 1
It’s a movie schmuck
or is it "keep your friends close.. keep your enemies closer
"UFC?"
"Yeah."
"Son of a bitch!" He couldn't help but be impressed.
Where can I watch the movie
This part of the movie always got me. I mean they're trying to make him feel bad for doing mixed martial arts but the fact of the matter remains. He could be making a hell of a lot more money doing mixed martial arts than teaching kids
Typical story. Tom Hardy gets beaten by a smaller dude with an omoplata and RNC, so he starts training BJJ.
Amazing movie!
Burgers are good
Protein and animal fat. Nothing wrong with that
This is the role that secured Bronson and Bane.
Impressive saying as how Bronson came out 3 years before this😂
This was after Bronson.
And apparently the point when Tom Hardy got a time machine
Inception with Nolan is what secured Bane.
they look totally different lol
I like that the principle at first seems like a dick but then it turns out, it's actually cool as fuck but politics is a bitch.
This is the guy from Black Panther
The fight scenes were great but the relationship dynamics were fxxxng hard to watch man. Nolte's character was like a lesson in cognitive dissonance for me. I couldn't help but to sympathize with him, even root for him, while at the same time couldnt get away from the fact that he was really horrible to his family and really kind of deserved the treatment he got.
Bollywood stole this movie and called it brothers 2015
Fortunately nobody gives a fuck.
@@MrK1kk3r Those Bollywood movies are pretty awesome, if you give them a chance. They put big money into their productions. The singing is the only parts I have to skip though, lol.
russia had a copy as well, and they didn’t even bother to change the name
I'm a have to check it out, it's on Netflix
Great movie with a shitty ending. Left us all hanging.
Tommy's character was such a bad person. He led his father back to alcoholism...
You know nothing
How about u be constructive sir
That wasn't it at all. He carried a lot of resentment for his father, and it took time for him to work towards forgiving him. By the end, the dad seems like he knows his kids are in a good place, so he's in a good place.
@@slayfordubz4318he's just an alcoholic. There's no reason, just an excuse. Some are better than others. His was the war, probably the only universally understandable excuse.
That father beat the shit out of Tommy's mom. And Tommy fled with his mother while his brother stayed behind with his father. Of course Tommy was cold to his father. Tommy was never a bad person. His anger is from his bad childhood and feeling betrayed by his brother. His father's actions basically tore his family apart. His father didn't clean up his act until months before the start of the movie.
People liking your post blows my mind.
I hate this blue-grey color grading.
And it hates you right back
Not everything can be poo colored like you.
Yeah, Nick Nolte you coach him!!! This is a dumb movie, but still better than most terrible, dumb, boring fighter movies.
What a shite movie fair play
Yah you're full of it.
I knew that kid from somewhere, its Training Day!
