Everything we know is gone. Reacting to the destruction of General Luna, the life hub of Siargao island is a painful experience. But then we see some hope too!
I agree with your decision of staying because you are able to have more interesting contents, watch things back again and learn from it. You have the ability to make the world aware of what has gone through Siargao. So maybe you can add a donation button for us who would like to share a little bit of our blessings to share with you and to the community that needs help. It’s brings satisfaction to us knowing we did something to help the island

Rubbish ! There are putting their daughter in great jeopardy and are on Tourists visas and are competing for things like food and materials and other resources with local Filipinos, who can not afford basic commodities.
We were also hit by the typhoon in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. It's even worst because at 6am on December 18, after Odette left our city, flash flood immediately took place. Evacuation places were very far, the waters were so fast. But we thank God we survived both the typhoon and the flood.
BBC news correspondent Howard Johnson travelled to Siargao in an International Federation of the Red Cross plane and sent out news reports 4 to 5 days after the typhoon hit, which were lead news items in the UK. His reports showed how extensive the devastation was and the logistical difficulties in getting the help needed to a remote island. Emergency personnel had been deployed, but much more help would be needed along with essential supplies and he said that aid and supplies were getting through, but they weren't getting through quickly enough. Getting electricity restored was a massive problem and skilled people would be needed to restore the grid. From what I have read and seen recently, governments and international aid agencies around the world have mobilised funds, aid and support and so hopefully the level of help that is required is on its way to help the communities affected.
Glad that u decided not to leave... leaving is not really an answer.. God has a purpose for you why He let you experience that kind of calamity, and maybe that is to help the locals there.. and maybe by helping them, help you decide to stay in the place even more...❤❤❤

Special mention to Story - she is adopting Filipino traits, keep smiling how hard life’s situation is. Kudos to you Both Sasha and Jay. Poppy is getting bigger.
Hi, I just found your Chanel a couple of days ago! We are British, but we normally live in Davao City. We had had to go back to Europe 2 years ago for some life saving spinal surgery, My daughter and I have a rare genetic connective tissue disorder. We at last have been allowed to come back then got trapped in Europe because of Covid and also the illness and so couldn’t return home to the Philippines until now! We had traveled back, leaving the uk ok the 15th, had to quarentene in Cebu And arrived there just as Odete hit Cebu. The roof flew off our hotel, it was very frightening. We also are a husband and wife with one daughter. The Cebu people were and are amazing! We have made friends we feel we will now always stay in touch with! The typhoon was terrifying but the people of Cebu have lost so much just as you guys have and they are still without power or water, and they say it will still be weeks before they have power or water. We were able to leave Cebu and we are now safe home in Davao city at last!! But we saw first hand the way Cebu was destroyed and we are so very sorry your island is also destroyed! I’m so glad you guys are staying there, that you love the Philippines and it’s people and Im so glad to have found your Chanel! Take care!! You are a brilliant family!

Praying for continued strength as you go through this process of recovery. Blessings for the new year! 🌟💗🌟💗🌟

Unfortunately the best won't be near enough. You heard Duterte say that funds were exhausted by covid. What remains won't see the light of day since its being held in reserve for the coming elections. And if you think the peoples' welfare is prioritize, the hard truth is that reelection funds matters above lives. Money to buy votes, to pay for campaigns is the ultimate goal.
Apparently, the owners of Las Palmas and Spotted Pig also had something in common - they did something right from the get go! Most of the structures of their businesses survived and they still had running water, had back-up generators and more. So this could be a lesson for the whole island, structures do still survive with the right materials (I'm talking about the businesses though) and a little more preparedness. And if these businesses can survive, they can then have more resources to help the other poor families on the island too, not only in terms of material and stable roofs over their heads but also maintain a job working for them... But who am I to judge, all natural disasters are horrible and sometimes it can be luck of the draw. Still, I guess it doesn't really hurt to be prepared too. What a relief seeing you guys doing better day by day!My family also hit by typhoon in Cebu my daughter's house also destroyed by Odette and so hard because am here in Hong Kong but the positive side I am able to send money and also helping 5 families who loses their houses too!
It may seem slow and apathetic but the police and military are giving their maximum effort for typhoon relief. Considering the scale of destruction all over the country, government personnel are spread thin. Distributing of supplies is a logistical nightmare because roads are blocked, airports' radar system got smashed and ports were destroyed. The president even sent his presidential boat to serve as a floating hospital there in Siargao.
Thats what I thougth all of their videos now are all blaming our goverment ..coz UP until now they didnt see any Help..they should Go home i feel sorry for any foriegners that incounter of this kind of disasters we are use to this but them..and their goverment can Help them properly.
@@Laluna0096 They are in the middle of it all and cant see the enormous scale of the devastation across the Philippines. I Don't think they realise that MILLIONS of people have been effected and the Philippines regular army is about 150,000
Maybe they are not aware that Cebu, Palawan & other Visayas Provinces were also affected by typhoon Odette. Maybe they thought that only Siargao was badly affected.🤔
This was filmed only a few days after the typhoon where everyone in the island are unable to contact anyone from outside and no idea when help will come. There is no power, no water and no internet to get information so no one has a clue of how bad the rest of the country was affected. They can only express what they see and feel at the moment since they lived through it. Try to imagine if you were in their shoes with no idea what is going on outside of the island, feeling scared, helpless and overwhelmed with the destruction. Don't be too quick to pass judgement.
You have adapted to smiling despite the awful situation. Happy New Year and hope you guys get all the help you need. thank you for bridging the lack of information from siargao to the rest of the country

You’re family is getting much stronger...again not skipping ads as my way of support! Still my prayers goes to your family and everyone affected by odette...
The international news coverage is nothing like the one on Yolanda the tacloban city super typhoon years ago. If not for the pandemic, it might have gotten more news coverage. News coverage means more awareness and therefore more help.
I'm really glad to you are all safe and hopefully Siargao recovers from this devastation and for more help to arrive and rebuild the island.... what a change in landscape, so heartbreaking to see the ruins left by the typhoon.
Glad to know that your family will be staying there despite the challenges , in God's grace, everything will be fine, good to know also that those helpless animals have survived too 😊
Thank you for these updates. I'm happy to see you are all well and feeling hope! Yes, please share about the NGO! I want to help, but not sure what is the best way and I want to make sure it goes directly to the survivors. I cried when I saw the cafe was open and serving coffee. Life's small pleasures we can take for granted. I truly felt the strong community in all your videos. My prayers and love to all of you and everyone affected by this typhon. 💕

I also referred friends to your channel and told them not to skip ads. I ♥️ your family. I wish I could be there in person to help. Safety and survival is paramount especially when you have a human child and pet child. Take care.
So exciting to have a coffee and a hot shower. I'm sure it did wonders to have a little piece of normality. I'm glad today was a great day of reconnections as you continue this journey of survival in a hard area after all that's happened. My heart is still with you guys and already you have done wonders at bringing attention to this storm (as I heard of it through you guys and not the news).

Happy New Year, Jay, Sasha and Story! It's good and makes me happy to see you guys on a much lighter mood, more hopeful, more positive compared the past few days. Indeed, this is exactly what you need - being able to interact with your friends, getting up and about, seeing some of the still good things standing out amidst the destruction - that heart design on your coffe, the still intact cottages in the resort, the puppies and ponies, that passionfruit. This reminds you that life goes on and everyday is a new day to start rebuilding. I'm happy you decided to stay put and starting to see another opportunity/purpose to have more impact for the people of Siargao. Stay strong and God bless you all! 😊❤👍

Southern Philippine islands are not the normal passage for typhoons or storms but when they do it will surely be strong and damaging. if you plan to stay or buy a home make sure to have an underground haven for it.. one example is the history that happens to Cagayan de oro in Mindanao that claims many lives. stay safe always!..
Siargao, Cebu and Bohol are just the major islands, but there are also other places devastated by this typhoon. Siargao may just be the Southernmost province and main help is coming from Manila which is in the far north.

It's a relief to see friends and see some normality above all these destruction and devastation. To have a simple shower and feel clean is great for your spirit. I'm glad you have people that cares for your well being. These gestures means so much more when you need it most!
What a beautiful sense of family/community. Hope is growing. 🙏❤️💪🤞
I am always waiting for your updates everyday. Being worried if the place where u live is alright and if any help reached that area already. Happy New Year to you guys! We love you. Big hug, from a Filipino , all the way here in Saudi Arabia.
Watching you guys happy made me happy too. You’re stronger than ever heading into 2022. Happy new year guys.
Hearing Story cry, made me cry:(
I just can’t imagine this destruction. It was nice seeing you out and smiling more.
You guys are amazing - please stay - you have a huge ability to help in this island. The trees and structures will come back - you all will. Keep up the good work - stay strong!
What a relief seeing you guys doing better day by day!My family also hit by typhoon in Cebu my daughter's house also destroyed by Odette and so hard because am here in Hong Kong but the positive side I am able to send money and also helping 5 families who loses their houses too!
God bless you
It may seem slow and apathetic but the police and military are giving their maximum effort for typhoon relief.
@@Laluna0096 Hey, they are not blaming, they are just telling what they observed, maybe they are not aware that other places are also devastated.
You have adapted to smiling despite the awful situation. Happy New Year and hope you guys get all the help you need. thank you for bridging the lack of information from siargao to the rest of the country
we pray that you can be resilient in spirit n in body...coz we have experience yolanda " haiyan". the super typhoon also..am just happy nobody was hurt in your family..its a very shocking ,traumatic experience..May God bless you n protect you always.but dont loss hope God is very Merciful,Kind, Good all the time....stay positive....
I wish for a better 2022 for you and your family. Glad that you stayed, keeping you all in my prayers. Keep the faith and stay strong. Siargao will rise again because of people like you🥰❤️
Bohol was hit worse because the storm made landfall on the island at night. People couldn't see what was happening.
Keep safe, strong and positive , dear family…just take it one day/step at a time. Things will get better soon enough…hugs to you guys and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! ❤️
We are definitely still praying for everyone! Personally, am glad somehow some form of hope in today’s video, seeing you were able to enjoy a coffee and some hot bath...thank you for keeping us updated! You’re family is getting much stronger...again not skipping ads as my way of support! Still my prayers goes to your family and everyone affected by odette...
I actually saw this footage from the vantage point of the media and saw you guys in the background. Glad you are safe.
Happy New Year Jay, Sacha, Story and also to Poppy!!! So nice and comforting to see you all smile a lot now. Sending hugs to all.
No coverage of this disaster in the USA that I am aware of. Wouldn’t have been aware of this had you guys not posted this on CZcams🤷🏾♀️
The news was placed in a bizbar ....not a breaking news.
@@delitaelloren3137 No news in germany about this!!
It was on CNN International by December 17, the morning after, with a call for donations.
Why the US govt sent a relief goods and amount of money....to the typhoon victims..if they were not doing a coverage disaster ..or showing in TV....
Keep strong 8miles and Siargaonun. We'll rise up again🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️
Happy new year eighth miles family,, im not skipping ads to help,,this is my only way to help,, silent fan here,, always not skipping ads,,god bless everyone
sending virtual hugssss to everyone. siargao will rise again, soon!
BLESSED day everyone dont worry guys everything is gonna be ok,Im praying for you guys. Stay strong .
I will put your channel on auto play all day and not skip ads to help. You were featured on the editorial of ABS-CBN news Dec. 31, 2021.
Things will get better there's hope I am happy you all stayed it shows resilience like a Filipino. I pray that you get your needs fulfilled and help others along the way. Have a happy new year regardless of the situation see the beauty in the island and in the faces of the families around you.
Happy new year Jay,Sacha and story. Even though it is not really a happy new year, what is important all of you are safe. God bless us all. Watching all your vlogs as always. I love you guys and thank you for not leaving Siargao. Keep safe always watching and praying that everything will be alright soon. From your silent sub.a pinay ofw from Israel
You are correct Jay, I'm in Florida, hardly nothing ,no news about the damaged Islands. I rely on Utube for news and updates. My island Cebu is also devastated.
It is emotional seeing the devastation of Siargao but I would like to say that Story's smile in your vlog is a ray of sunshine amidst all the gloom. Keep the hope alive and thank you for all the help! Siargao will rise stronger and better! 🌞
We wish you a very blessed new year. Thank you so much for the work you are doing, thank you for staying and sharing. We are watching the ads, and praying for you and Siargao. Love you!💕
HAPPY NEW YEAR Jay, Sach, Story and Pops! xo Thank you for sharing this to the world!
My heartfelt thank you family for sharing with the rest of the world, a picture of hope and kindness in the midst of a tragedy and devastation - friends, smiles, hugs, children, puppies, ponies, coffee, shower... and your determination to rebuild your community and take care of each other. You inspire many of us that are facing our own personal and collective obstacles during these challenging times. May the new year bring you more healing, recovery, creativity and lasting friendships.
Thank you for sharing your videos I'm following you guys as I see them I feel like I'm there with you guys in spirit! Thank you!

Happy New Year! There is a glimpse of hope. The island will bounce back. No skipping of ads.
I’m glad some business survived. Happy new year …May this new year be brings hope and recovery. As long as water and power is back . Yes Cebu got hit hard and but they seem to be doing ok. I am happy you are staying and making your new mission going to help in the recovery.
Happy New Year! Baby girl.. you’re the sunshine for everyone!!
Despite of the destruction left by typhoon Odette, Happy New Year and may 2022 be much better 😍😍😍
Happy New year!! to both of you..Dont give up,God will hear our prayer..Take care Sha,Jay and Story your cute poppy..God bless you...
Siargao, Cebu and Bohol are just the major islands, but there are also other places devastated by this typhoon. Siargao may just be the Southernmost province and main help is coming from Manila which is in the far north.
Negros and Leyte especially the southern part
its so heartbreaking to see what happened...i live in UK and we only heard the news on BBC a day after the typhoon and we saw the devastation...its only here on YT that we see more of whats happening out there...thank God youre safe guys...take care.
Kaya napakaimportante ng tamang architecture lalo na sa Pinas na palagi tinatamaan ng bagyo
Thank you so much for sharing this video! It is very good to see that you still have not lost your smile. I love to see that Story is also doing good. I am wondering what you are doing right know, because from this video to now it is 9 day ahad. But I am more positive that you all will build a new Siargao! Sooo much love and light to all of you!
Where they now? It’s a mystery. If J wanted to reveal it, he could’ve said it on the description before he posted this video.
I'm from the UK. and haven't heard anything on the news about any of this....... as of yet. so glad your all safe x
Happy new year Jay Sacha and adorable Story.... Glad watching your video again.

Enjoy what God has spared for all of you there in Siargao..your life and loved ones .sooner you all could recover(one day at a time) by God's grace and mercy..happy new year still!
It's rare for a super typhoon to be followed by another strong typhoon, it's rare but it's not impossible. Be strong, we also experience those kind of typhoons not once but many times. Be strong, and rebuild what has been destroyed. Get our life back to normal, at least from our point of view.
Happy New year to you Jay, Sacha and Story n Poppy... inspite of everything... dnt despair... everything will be alright... let's just be positive and persevere. God bless us all. we love you guys😘
Thank you Jay, Sacha and Story for staying around to help rebuild the island to where it once was. Your social platform is useful in spreading awareness of the real situation so others may be able to extend assistance and become part of a helping community.
