I'm 62, now tell me folks, did we have the best ever music of our generation!
It was the renaissance era of our generation! 👍✌😊
Yes we did! I love our music era, I don’t think there will be an equal ever
Yes we did !!
Am 63, same, Brah!
This was MUSIC. I love it when they hear it and get it. This was fire. BAAAANGER. and he knows. Grateful for you Leo. We can’t let this music ever die. I’m 69
The first time you hear this song, you wonder how you ever got along without it.
It's one of those timeless songs that seem to have always existed, ain't it?
@@willrichardson519 timeless is a perfect description.
Omg 💁🏻♀️👋 rite!!!!!
True!
I agree from the minute I hear it when I was young. Put me in a speechless trance. 🙊
Right Down The Line is another great song by this artist. I think of being in high school when this album came out.
When I heard it (making sure I picked up the lyrics) it was like it was written purely as a love letter to his woman. If that's the case, what a way to show your love for your woman.
One of the best written love songs ever, in my opinion!
From his official channel, this was recently released 2 weeks ago.

That song is 🔥 One of my all time favs, so good!
It's been you Leo right down the line.....❤️
I just LOVE watching you FEEL what I felt 30 years ago!!! Music never dies❣️Love you, my brother😎🙏🏻
Same! ✨✨
❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
* waits for someone to send Leo a Saxophone * 😂😂
Same! Sure wish we could see him open it, if so- I miss ALL the unboxings..☹️
If he was UK side he could borrow mine 😂😂
@@kimberlinibambini1988 ME TOO!!!!! The unboxings were my favorite thing! Bring 'em back please, Leo???
This song is Iconic, esp the Sax! that part of the song has spread throughout pop culture.....I'm sure you've heard it without realizing
And it was a simple chance at fate for that was to be even played. It was originally planned to be an electric guitar but the session player was a no show. He walked out into the waiting area to see what was there and noticed the Sax player. Told him to get inside and play, the rest is history.
@@theghost6412 Wow! didn't know that
@@theghost6412 I had no idea! Wow 😲
@@theghost6412 Amazing how so many legendary music pieces are done almost accidentally, that piece just would not have been the same without that Sax part. Thank God for putting the right people at the right place at the right time!
@@theghost6412 I thought it was that Gerry was supposed to play the line on guitar, but the hand drummer/percussionist had a saks in his car and said "lets see what it sounds like" and they went with that. Either way its pretty cool to know that the most memorable part wasnt supposed to be
I have never met anyone who doesn't like this song. Great reaction. ❤
My son plays the sax. He said he was going to learn the solo for Baker Street. He started with Careless Whisper.
L❤️VE that song
The sax player is Raphael Ravenscroft - he appeared with a lot of acts as a session player (Pink Floyd, for one)
I don't care how many thousands of times I hear that sax hit...it gives me goosebumps every single time.
This was so wildly popular that was playing everywhere all the time, and it took a long while for people to almost get tired of hearing it. Almost. The numbness wore off. It is a sax classic.
Reminds me of childhood, Sunday driving trips, getting outdoors. So much great radio music in the 70's.
Such a classic. Beings back so many memories of my mom n dad.
Yessssssa
This is one of those songs that everyone likes. Great tune.
Cheers!
This is one if the greatest songs ever made period
One of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES from my teen years when it came out. Of course the lyrics mean so much more now as I've gotten older & I love it even more. Thank you, love you!
Ditto!!! And seeing it through Leo’s eyes is a big bonus!!!
Great sax! You still have the most honest reactions! "Right Down The Line" is another great of his.

Gerry Rafferty got his start with a group called Steelers Wheel, their big hit was “Stuck in the middle with you” the lead song in the movie Reservoir Dogs. He’s a fantastic musician.
Was a fantastic musician. He died in 2011. Tragic story. There's a documentary in 4 parts floating around CZcams.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_Rafferty#Death
Nope - before that he was in the Humblebums with the great comedian Billy Connolly. Shoeshine Boy - great song too.
@@RustumK Thanks 🤘🤘🤘
Damn, this is a lit as heck song. Had a friend in high school marching band who could sing like Gerry Rafferty in the song, and could play that epic as hell saxophone riff perfectly. He even performed that song for a talent show his senior year, my sophomore year. This song always reminds me of him, wonder what he's up to nowadays.
:D Go find out!
Find him !!
Update? Did you find your old friend?
@@derekforeel no luck so far. Haven't had time to find out. I remember the name, but that's about it.
This song was in the Simpsons episode where Lisa gets her first Saxophone
“Saxamaphone...” ~ Homer
True. Thank you!! That’s where I heard it from
Bleeding Gums Murpy , RIP .
Jerry Rafferty is a damned MASTERMIND! The man makes GREAT music! 😎
You mean Gerry. 😄
I loved this song when it first came out. I was still in school then.
30 years ago I was in an abusive marriage, a long way from home.
20 years ago I got out, and brought my kids home.
This song (and a few others) kept me going, gave me strength and hope and helped me survive. I'm now a proud grandma. I was belting it out, and carried on without Gerry and you a couple of times. No matter. Some lines deserve to be sung twice.
I was 9 when this came out. I've always loved it!
This song, dude. It's pure magic. 🔥
Try "Stuck in the Middle with You" (his band at the time was Stealer's Wheel). It's a little more upbeat and funny.
oh yeah, that's a good one too!
After Stuck in the Middle, he should do "All I Wanna Do Is Have Some Fun" by Sheryl Crow. Same groove.
Everyone in that video was so beautifully high. Yes...Leo has to do that one.
Good call, try listening without tapping your feet!
Shouldnt he watch Reservoir Dogs first? Hah
My first trip to London, and first time using a subway system, I found my wat to Madame Tussauds and back to my lodging. In the subway I looked across and saw I was at the Baker Street Station and had to take a picture. This is an amazing song.
Something I've always loved about this song is that there are several different melodies, yet they all go together beautifully. Love that sax, don't you?
Gerry Rafferty played in a band before he went solo called "Stealers Wheel". Check out the tune "Stuck In The Middle With You. Classic!
I'm 62 and still blast this song in my car today!
Yes!!! Classic song!
I was only a little girl in the 70's but this song makes me nostalgic for something I can't quite put my finger on. Great choice!
So many good memories come back, just hearing this song. It was very popular when I was a kid. I'm glad you liked it. His voice is so soothing. Have a good evening.
Raphael Ravenscroft played the sax solo on Baker Street. RIP
You truly appreciate all kinds of music. You are one of the few who has a real open mind .
classic 70s! this song is played constantly on radio stations still to this day!! great song.another gerry rafferty "GEM" is"GET IT RIGHT NEXT TIME"for reaction.cool reaction as always leo.; )
Just about the soulest song in the history of soulest music.
@Ce Ha I'm pretty sure he meant soulful!
My parents used to play this so it always gives me a deep sense of nostalgia despite the story... and the music is just killer in every way and the sax is so much more badass than a lot of the sax for the time. The story resonates too, especially with that music. It's a perfect song, really.
Makes me homesick for my youth😔
❤️🔥Killing It Mr. Video!!!! One of my favorites!!! THIS is the CD I bought at the same time I bought Coolio’s CD (when it first came out) and the cashier said “What are you, Bi-Polar”? And I said no, I’m musically well-versed!!!!
❤️ it ! ... We just like all kinds of music whatever makes us feel... Love all genres of music! 💫✌️
@@kristiwheels9381 Yes! A Genre for every mood!
Love love love this comment Jacqueline.
@@Music-Is-Real-Love Thank you, Lisa!
Baker Street came out in 1978 When disco was suppose to be mostly that was on the radio LOL , YA RIGHT The late 70s Had WAAAAAY MORE than Just disco Such as Totos hold the line from 1978 ,, And the people that say that HATE the 70s ,And ignore all the other great music from 1975 till 1979 And dont know music HISTORY PERIOD
Heard this so many times never knew who it was until now that saxophone part is legendary if you haven't heard the whole song you've heard that part for sure🔥🔥🎶
A young friend played Right Down The Line ! for a girl he wanted to marry! It worked She told me she was blown away how word's effect ya LOL and she married him! True Story!
I sang "Joe's Garage" Frank Zappa to my then g. friend. 30+ yrs, 3kids, going on 6 g.kids. Guess it worked.❤👍✌😊
This makes me nostalgic also. I recall being at my parents’ parties with this stuff. After reading Sherlock Holmes, this song just makes me think of 221B Baker St. I can’t be alone, but probably close.
Is that the jail in Houston. ?????😂😂😂
The Baker Street Irregulars were a lliterary society devoted to Sherlock Holmes in the early days .
I always think of John Watson and Holmes as well. Love this song for that.
Gerry Rafferty-Right Down the Line is excellent as well.
My husband always plays another song of his for me called Right Down the Line. I'd never heard of him before, but the song gave me Chills! The sax on Baker Street is amazing. I could listen to the saxophone forever! (I too think it is a sax!)
It's a tenor sax if I remember rigvht
Timeless masterpiece. I was 16 when this came out. Magical decade.
This song is from 1978, I was 10 that year and I'm watching this video for the very first time. Didn't even know there was a video!
Amazing song
No way this takes me back to working at my local shop a looong time ago when I was about 16. Good days!
Everytime I hear the start of Bakers Street it brings a smile to my face, because I know what's about to happen .The riff of that sax is beautiful. The whole song is just enjoyable. What great lyrics, and the vocals are amazing.Brilliantly layered.
This is such a fantastic song. The saxophone in it is pure genius. As soon as it starts, your emotions just take off and fly.
I always loved this one- Surprisingly deep lyrics for such a poppy tune...
You've heard that sax all over the place- It's been sampled, it's been used in TV commercials, it's probably been used in a movie soundtrack or two...
Bill Clinton played sax- You know HE did it for the nookie...
"You know he did that before. It's like a little hypnotosis thing you can do, to lure the women in."
Musicians ALWAYS get the girls, LOL!!
I love this song whoop whoop yes yes
I think I speak for everyone when I propose this.... Would you please let us know what your favorite songs are that you have listened to so far. It would help us in our efforts to educate you on your musical journey. When you have an emotional experience to a song that touches us its like we have touched you. Thank you Leo for bringing happy memories back to us.
I’d so love that too!!
Mr V is actually educating me on my musical journey.
!!!!!
Best of 2020 for New Years???
Been wondering the same!
I bet it is ac/dc or
Grand funk railroad or
Meatloaf...
This song changed my life or I changed my life and heard this song, not quite sure which.
This takes me back to the summer of ‘78. Growing up in north Florida we couldn’t afford air conditioning. On those hot sweltering summer nights I had a box fan in the window and listened to the radio until late night. This song always took me away. Such beautiful lyrics and the sax and guitar solo was incredible. Once again my man, thanks for beautiful memories and making me smile.
Summer of 78, I was a little girl in Jax. I remember this song and I can also remember the summer before when they announced Elvis had died… that and the jingle for the new ATM at Florida National Bank. It’s strange how just a few lines of a song can take you back
Great tune✌️♥️👍
Welcome to Baker Street. Great, great song. Fortunately you don't need that to lure me in 😘
Gerry Rafferty was a great song writer. As a kid I heard him during summer when my mom put on music while she painted paintings. I didn't appreciate the kind of music she listened to until I was much older.
Some other classic Rafferty tracks well worth a listen:
Night Owl - sooo damn funky, probably my fave song of his. czcams.com/video/4vTnff0pkgs/video.html
The Royal Mile - a very melodic and sentimental sounding song. czcams.com/video/UfqjSDMWV4k/video.html
Waiting For The Day - a very groovy and rocking track. czcams.com/video/6sRE4Mr7CNw/video.html
So glad you reacted to this, I had suggested it for the sax appeal a while back. Gerry Rafferty was in a blues group with the biggest Scottish Comedian ever, Billy Connolly. As well as checking out other songs by Gerry, you should check out Billy on your other channel. The guy is a living legend and was good friends with Robin Williams.
If you'd like to hear an iconic song with a smooth, great saxophone included, give a listen to "Take Five" by The Dave Brubeck Quartet.
Saw them live, along with Dave Brubeck...must be 60 years ago...
I love this song
That Sax is AMAZING. That part is played in a lot of movies. Check out Keith Washington, "Kissing You, Candlelight and You and Are you still in love with Me" I would love a reaction on those.
Yes please!!,🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
'Where've I heard that sax?' Everywhere. It's easily one of the most iconic and recognisable pieces of saxophone music ever recorded.
Damn fine song! Raphael Ravenscroft was the saxophonist, infunkincredible, he played on many tracks. He passed away in 2014 RIP. Great choice Leo!!!❤️
Great classic 👌 Especially on a snowy day in the northeast. Befitting for the current state of things in NYC. Love this inspiring reaction video right now 👍
I need you.and Jamel to do something together...that would be "fire"
This is one of those songs that every single element combines to make PERFECTION. i loved it on first listen and still love it now.
I know you'll like" Baker's street" .Smooth as hell. The different layers in this song are amazing."Right Down the line".Another good one by Gerry Rafferty.
According to Wiki, the sax intro & the song featured in a ton of movies and series including The Simpsons and Family Guy, Grand Theft Auto V and indeed a German sex comedy from 1978.
No judgement here Leo 😂😂😂😂
which german sex comedy? I might know it as I am from Germany :D
Also instead of naming movies like Zodiac or Good Will Hunting you name Family Guy? :P
@@6666Imperator I'm not into movies all that much 😅 That German flick is called Summer Night Fever. With that title and this song, that soundtrack might be 🔥🔥
😁🤣
Gotta check out the Foo Fighter's cover
This was my favorite song when it came out and still is to this day...so glad I could share with you 30 years later..love to see someone appreciate it with me.
The whole album should be heard. One of the finest singer songwriters ever. What a voice and lovely melodies. Sadly couldn't handle the fame and died in his early 60s from alcoholism.
Mr Video my brother! ✊
- *(Foghat) - “Slow Ride” Extended Version* 💯🔥
AMEN to that Pete!
Tris!! I’m in NY! The Bronx! City Island! 🙌😂😎. Yes do think he’ll like it! Lol
Yessss!
Mr. Video, Steely Dan - Peg
YES! I just asked for that one too!
Love ❤️ Steely Dan!!
Or *AJA*
Steely Dan has a lot of good songs.
Leo, you are so special. Come back we want more. Love and miss the music. Real music ! I was a teen and loved this so much back then. ❤️🔥
Everybody loves the sax, but nobody says anything about that kickass guitar solo! One of the best!!!
Beautiful song
Dude- just listen to “whatever’s written in your heart” by mr. rafferty- it’s depressing but, damn.
That saxophone. ...very powerful...hypnotic...loved it..
I am catching up after having no internet for 3 weeks!! Bloody telco's!! It has already made me happy just watching your reactions - weeks of arguing with a company that won't maintain their lines in a rural area and finally I am watching Leo be happy listening to smooth singers and great funky blues/rock...........makes my heart sing - Thanks Leo!
Best music ever!
I have NO idea what happened to my comment?!? Weird. 🙃
*I'M TOO SEXY* by Right Said Fred.
Great song (Baker Street) and great reaction, per usual!
💜💫✌🏼🎵
*Who wants Right Said Fred?

1978 was a good year. Killer tunes all over the place. This was one of them.
I don't know how many GREAT saxophone riffs there are, but this will certainly go down as one of them.... Again, I salute Mr. Video for his unique style, and his impeccable choice of songs to review. MR. VIDEO CONTINUES TO ROCK OUR WORLD..!!!!!!
i was 8 when it came in radio first time in germany.Tach auch
Me too !... Every time I hear this song reminds me of the summers at the pool and this coming out of the jukebox🤣 ❤️💫✌️
Was eleven when this song came out and I still love it. Moin Moin
I on the other hand was too young for the first go ‘round. But a Michael Mind remix was all over the discos when I went on a week long dance vacation in Lloret de Mar (Spain) while visiting family in Germany for a month. So that’s the version I always get in my head.

@@JolineYE Uhhhh.Cool Stuff. I do not know thts.THX
What an awesome song!!
One of the greatest songs ever recorded such a masterpiece 🔥
Incredible song, always loved it, it's so honestly tragic and human about how difficult it can be who we really want to be. I remember working a job that was killing me, struggling with a relationship, and trying to "drink the night away, and forget about everything." "When you wake up it's a new morning... but you're going home.." Song absolutely nails the feeling of being lost and hopeful 'tomorrow' will treat you better, while wasting away the 'todays'.
Brilliant!
Awesome song, awesome reaction 👌
Raphael Ravenscroft's sax was one of the best instrumentation on any song ever and Baker Street an iconic masterpiece.
His voice is what gets me all the time. It's just butter. Yes yes yes, the sax, but his voice, lyrics. The sax elevates it to a high level that cannot seem to be reached. Not again.....
The song was in the movie Good Will Hunting". I like the Foo Fighters version, myself. But if it wasn't for Gerry, there wouldn't be a version! ❤
more saxophone! Thanks Mr. Video!
Glen Frey...You belong to the City! Has that sexy sax too! Damn it, l love the 80s!
That's Raphael Ravenscroft playing the alto sax, and perhaps one of if not the most iconic sax riff in rock music. He passed away a few years ago, and we sadly lost Gerry back in about 2011. Check out more of Rafferty's music - he has a lot of great songs, with very layered music. Great reaction!
My first time to a new upload! I'm excited!
Wow the memories. Hall and Oates live (2003) I can't go for that no can do please.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Lyrics always stay relevant. Hits me emotionally every single time.
Actually...the first time I heard this song I was a teenage girl. I loved the sax and his voice, but the lyrics and mood escaped me. It's one of those songs that seriously grow on you when maturity sets in. It's a brilliant piece.
