  • This week, we are at Tekka Centre for lunch.
Do note that this video was filmed before the Tekka Centre renovation (3 July 23 - 30 Sep 23).
Build in 1915, Tekka Market was one of the most prominent landmarks along Serangoon Road. The area where it was situated was known as tek kia kha to the Hokkiens, shortened to tek kah, meaning "the foot of the small bamboos". The modern Tekka Centre now consist of 2 levels. Level 1 comprises of 119 cooked food stalls and 284 market stalls. Level 2 are provision and clothing stalls. Do you know that Tekka Market was also known as Kandang Kerbau Market, meaning "buffalo enclosure" in Malay, due to the many cattle-sheds here in the past ?
This food centre is also very conveniently located near Little India MRT, with just additional 5 mins of walk required, making it very accessible.
    Here's what we tried:
    1. Heng Gi Goose and Duck Rice - Braised Duck Rice Set ($4) with an additional Braised Egg ($0.70).
    2. Grandma Mee Siam - Mee Siam ($3).
    3. 545 Whampoa Prawn Noodles - Prawn Noodles Dry Version ($5).
    4. Generation Coffee - Kopi ($1.60).

I love traditional hawker food . But it would be useful to state the closing time of stalls you feature. I can only be there for early dinner .
    Thanks for your video😊
