#enginefan #switch #overheating On this video I will show how I installed a manual fan switch in my truck. In the extreme heat I like to turn it on any my discretion.
Mine was staying on. A/C over charged. I added some to tue system and found out later it was a chip bag blocking the return. Just having the single little gauge I didn’t know the accuracy plus head pressure so I over charged it. Just let some out until the suction line was cold and bam!! Air con working and fan is off. Awesome video thank you!
On a modern International (if you have access to the dealer software) all you have to do is order a switch, plug the switch into any blank slot where the other switches go, and change a parameter in the body control software. All done!
Just did this install by watching this video using the same switch from fleet pride total cost $65.00 and that's because quarter inch air line was sold to me in bulk for about $15.00 if not it would've been cheaper.🤟

Hey man thanks for the help with the repair videos I had a question about your orange Columbia that’s a glider are you able to run paper logs on that since it has the 12.7 pre emission in it or how does that work? Thanks if you could make a video on gliders that would be cool thanks again for your help
Excuse my stupid question. So this installation means that you no longer will depend on the solenoid to kick in when needed and there for you will need to watch it all time, correct
No sir...it will still be automatic...however you will be able to turn it on anytime you want rather than waiting for the truck to do it. Some trucks come with this switch factory installed. We are just adding it to a truck that doesn't have it.
@@DIYSEMI yea I agree I saw the video and did most of it but still stuck on on Replace all sensors, solenoid,I haven’t Done the A/C high pressure measurements yet Someone said it can be ECM Igor a 12.7 Detroit
I have a 2004 FL M2 106 & fan spins freely, even at 210f, does the '04 FL supply 12v to solenoid to turnON fan or turn OFF fan ? Could I mount simply dash switch to control 12v to solenoid instead of messing with air lines ?
@@DIYSEMI thanks for reply recently had fan going non stop replaced solenoid,ac switches, then mechanic told me it was the ecm sent it to ecm repair they said nouthing was wrong with it plugged it back in everything worked correctly a week long ordeal .guessing I had a bad connection on the ecm only thing I can figure.

Good stuff. I'm really surprised more trucks don't come with fan switches these days

you can do the same with freighliner. very easy.

Thank you very much. Once again you're videos have been very helpful to me
Thanks mam. I'll do that to my volvo next week
where did you get the toggle switch, can you please share the link or part number? Thanks for your videos, a very educating channel for new truckers.
got it at fleet pride, don't remember the part number
AWESOME JOB YOU DID. 👍
Thanks
@@DIYSEMI Your welcome
You should do a video on how you installed manual dump switch
Ok, will get to it.
Great video took me less than 30 minutes to finish

Thanks for your video. I am going to install fan switch on my freightliner columbia. Where did you buy parts?
Yeah, that's pretty good and cool .always excellent videos
Thanks
Well nice intro song
Made it look easy....
Sir I want to say Thanks you so much. God bless you
Great video! Thanks for sharing
Great idea!
I wonder if this set up would work on 2006 isx15?

Really helpful I'm about to do the same!, thank you
Did mine today thanks !
Parts or part# would have been great
Thanks for the video , very important switch , I would like to activate my dash button on cascadia 126 with Cummins but I don't know how ...
Is the line in the one that runs from the cutch fan.? And where do the line out goes?
Could you just put wires and a 12v switch to the temperature sensor?
Several ways you could do it. This is the way I prefer.
Hey man good vid. What’s the reason someone would add this !? Benefits!?
Excelente
Super 👍😉😀

Yeah, that is what he meant for installing this fan manual switch .
Can you list which swich you used in the cab? A link would be great! Thanks

How did you install the airbag switch?
I just did this to my truck but I was wondering wouldn’t the switch be blocking the airway for the Fan clutch to turn on ?!
Not if you do it right. It will be an on/ auto switch rather than on/off
@@DIYSEMI am I suppose to splice the inlet or outlet ?
Good vid, thnx
You bet
My fan is going to be on only when am driving and stays on till I stop I did everything one side of my hood is way off is that has to do with anything
Thank you Sir, you saved me
Great video… I’m installing mine soon but how do I know when to turn my fan on …. And then when to turn it off ?? THANK U!!
Watch your temperature gauge.
MAN, CAN I BUY THAT TRUCK FROM YOU? I know it's pretty reliable
Why would you want to do it in the first place ?
So I can turn the fan on if I should need to
Hey thanks for vide
Those this process works to turn off fan ? My is on all the time ?
You should never disable the fan. You need to find the problem and fix it. I have a video on that
@@DIYSEMI yea I agree
I saw the video and did most of it but still stuck on on
Replace all sensors, solenoid,I haven’t Done the A/C high pressure measurements yet
Someone said it can be ECM Igor a 12.7 Detroit
yes, maybe time to put a computer on it
I have a peterbilt 357 and my fan won’t turn on automatically and the temp is too high like 215 and nothing I have to turn on manually 😢
I don’t get it its an airline switch ? Which solenoid and how would you know where to splice the right line ?
Yes it's an airline switch. I show you how to hook it up in the video
What are issue of driving with it on I think I did a trip with it on
No issue other than it uses alot of power and more fuel
I have a 2004 FL M2 106 & fan spins freely, even at 210f, does the '04 FL supply 12v to solenoid to turnON fan or turn OFF fan ? Could I mount simply dash switch to control 12v to solenoid instead of messing with air lines ?
No... Never defeat the solenoid . You should never make it so u can turn it off manually. Only on or auto. Disabling it is a bad idea
@@DIYSEMI Thanks, manual On or AUTO never manual OFF. Im hoping local Detroit-Allsion can install such a manual switch.
👍👍👍
Can this be a temporary fix till I figure out why my new and installed solenoid is not working?
maybe.... but dont ever disable the fan.... make sure you can turn it on
Which line on the solenoide do connect to the one going to fan clutch or the other line
Could of saved the time and just tap a switched ground into the fan control module behind the coolant reservoir.
Seems like the same amount of work, either it's wire or air line and a switch.
Why not just wire the toggle to ground to opperate the fan ?
it should never be set up to where you can disable it all together. mine makes it on or automatic. not on or off.
I did the steps as followed fan didnt kick on
where did you buy that air switch
My local fleet pride store
Where would you recommend to go look at glider trucks?
There is a place in Glasgow KY that sells new ones. I personally don't recommend fitgerald. There is a dealer in the Midwest called Harrison....they are good
@@DIYSEMI why wouldn't you recommend Fitzgerald? What state is that Harrison dealer located in?
@@nba3512 there have been some issues with their engine builds. Harrison has locations in the Midwest
@@DIYSEMI i will check it. You should make a video talking about glider trucks
Hi.when my truck is in high rpm and I turn on the fan with the switch is making noise same as yours like I hear. Is that normal????
Squeal?
Is there anything that can be harmed by manually doing it too much?
Fan on all the time will cause lower fuel mileage. But no different than if the truck turns it on
👋👋👋
So how is the fan gonna kick on with the a/c.....
It will function exactly like it did before with the switch off. When you flip the switch it locks it on....its not an on/off switch....it's an on/auto switch.
10-4 that is easy way to solve this issue for shur. Thanks for the info sir!
How did you install the dump valve?
Need a new leveling valve, air line, and a switch
?
Installed a new suspension leveling valve with a dump. Ran air line to the dash. Connected it to a switch
