  • BLACK GIRL GETS HAIR DONE IN KOREA
In this video, I, a black girl, get my hair done in Korea. I am surprised at the hip length/ waist length natural hair and that I am getting my hair done in South Korea. The Korean hairstylists' reaction to my hair was priceless! lol
The inspiration for this video came from Chilo Talks who lives in Japan and MaryJane Byram who lived in China but is now a world traveler.
I haven't been to a salon in about 3 years due to some hair horror stories but I am excited to get my hair done in Korea and try out the salon again especially in a different country. Normally being black in Korea, or any country in Asia like China or Japan, finding a place to get natural hair done is like finding a needle in a haystack. Therefore, I decided to do an experiment! Especially since this salon is one of the best reviewed salons in South Korea, so I am excited to see what they can do with my long natural 4c hair. The results were shocking and not the transformation I expected. I hope you watch and enjoy it until the end!
Sidenote: This hairstylist's salon is located 3 hours outside of Seoul at the bottom tip of Korea in an amazing city called Gwangju, also known as one the cities where democracy was birthed in Korea as well as the birthplace of BTS's Jhope lol. Korea Vlog of my time there to come out soon!

I DO know she got some HEAT damage and lost a LOT of hair behind that visit. I thought she'd speak up more and TELL them to section her hair and THEN detangle it in smaller pieces and straighten it in smaller pieces. She lost too much hair for my taste. They saw her hair and FORGOT all their formal training! lol! I was like NOOOOOOOOO! Step 1 is always to SECTION the hair in quadrants!!!! That's UNIVERSAL... she keeps her hair braided so I think it'll recover FAST. Her hair itself is beautiful!

Having big hair can be a compliment as saying you have a lot of healthy fuller hair that makes it look big rather than thin low density hair. Ppl with thin straight hair still uses methods such as “teasing” their hair so their hair can look more fuller or bigger. I’m not dismissing that we get made fun of for our hair cuz we still do but in this case here I don’t believe he was being passive aggressive. If he thinks of her hair negatively I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t bother doing her hair, he admitted that he doubt he could do it at first but still tried which shows he actually had interest in doing her hair and shows how much passion he has for doing hair in general.

Hair is hair. It is up to the individual stylist to continue practicing, and that requires CLIENTS to give them a chance to even try. Don’t think for a second that just because a stylist has straight hair, they CANT do any type of hair that lands in their chair!! The majority of cosmetologists today are REQUIRED to learn and practice on ANYONE who sits in that chair, you can’t refuse anyone who doesn’t have the hair type you happened to be born with. Most clients go to a salon for something they can’t do themselves.

Never in my life did I have any idea what black girls go through with their hair. My hair has always been limp, not curly, not straight, thin and basically ugly and unmanageable. But this hair is so different. I have a little granddaughter who is black. She has the cutest little springy hair I've ever seen and my white daughter does wonders with it. This is such an eye opener for me.

My daughter's hair was crazy one morning, I was running late for work and told my husband it was his job to fix her hair for preschool 😬,, he did what he could I suppose. At work I was absent minded thinking of my baby's hair, a costumer asked and I told her my worries,,, she understood, smiled and gave me advise about products and tricks for my daughter's hair (pink lotion was the thing many years ago)
I followed her advise and it became easier for my daughter and I when doing her hair.
I knew nothing about very curly- really full hair,, that lady was an angel in disguise 😊

@@KerrasJournal I was wondering about the protectant too! And just products in general. Next time definitely tell them to add some products in your hair, because it does wonders for mine. I usually use oil and heat protectant. If you're okay with however they do your hair I suggest you add some oil and anti frizz yourself when they're done. Then put your hair in braids or wrap it in a bun. I usually put it in a bun/braid if my hair starts to get too frizzy because it helps to flatten it.

Girl, when your hair is like that I find it better to spray it with some A.C.V. (apple cider vinegar) to help detangle, removes build-up without damaging the hair and brings hair back to a PH level. I was torn to see them not even using any conditioners nor detangling products... but was curious as to why they wanted to do your hair and am sure it took them over two hours. Anyway, I gave them a 2 out of 5 for effort. You have to find a place that can be gentler, kinder with your hair care and one who knows how to your hair without any further damages as it was done while your hair was being done by 3 people. They should have started to detangle at the ends and work their way up gently with a wide tooth comb and a slip conditioner.
