Lot of things to say about this video. As a coach I'm so happy to see good content from experienced practitioners that can actually think at and for beginners level.
I consider very important to coach to beginners qpm, landings, climbing, descending, rolling, balance, and vaulting in this particular order (with different levels of each category intertwined throughout sessions - good qpm session will turn into usable strength and prep for roll, vault and landing, a thorough landing and climbing will help for vaulting and connections for roll etc). As you said, many roads lead to many Romes, and there are different styles of coaching and learning your own path (which I found beautiful in parkour in the first place).
The jump in, which some call Arm-leap, as a part of the arm jump or classical cat leap, is something that I coach before diving into cat leap. But I have to admit that this seems to be like accessory techs that some simply find it inherently integrated as a part of a move or variations and, to me at least, it seems like they think it's going to get to a student anyway. Myself included here, because I never thought about the pencil roll, barely recommended it but still used it as progression the hip roll - due to the risk of them using it to disperse a big impact and injuring hips, wrists and coccyx.
Bottom line it comes down to how you see the path, and as a coach, on how you choose to guide the student to finding his path. As long as the basics are covered and the body is physically prepared, from this point it's literally exploration.
Great content ❤ and I hope it reaches more soon to be parkour beginners. I'm definetely sharing this with my students so they'll see there are other ways and styles.

One intermediate parkour move I was able to do when I was young - without ever even taking a parkour course - was the staircase perch base jump.
I had a very good kinesthetic awareness of my body in this move, which saved me from ending up with a stress fracture on my ankles.
For this jump, I was on a staircase perch end that was about 5 feet high. I knew what my height from there to the concrete ground was (the sidewalk). I started with a squat-down before I took off, and like a parkour expert--getting ready to face the impact of landing, I knew these two rules -- never let the ankles hit the landing first (land on the balls of the feet FIRST) --and absorb the impact like a ballet dancer does after a high jump---by bending the knees into a squat as soon as one lands.

Also im not that creative, so creative parkour wasnt what i wanted to do. So i quit parkour and now im in ultimate frisbee which is fine but not as cool as parkour, which i still love

Hey! I think that’s such a good idea for a video. I’ll start working on something like it. Some of the things we do: train on ground level 99% of the time, keep your ego in check, check your landing surfaces, surround yourself with people who want to keep you safe and don’t push you too much and most importantly: be patient

@@TheJasonPaul Oh thank you so much! I am touched that this inspires you for an upcoming video. I love your channel; it inspires me a lot. My son and I watch it together, and we started parkour at a very basic level. We looked up one of your videos for the warm-up; he's curious to see how you do it and firmly believes it’s superfluous! Ah, teenagers 😅.

I think it’s great to mix into your low impact training and can be used effectively to build better landing techniques. Of course, it will limit your max performance or can be dangerous in areas with broken glass, etc., so how you use it depends on your it goals :)

Start slow and easy, especially with the jumps. Stay at around 80% of your max jump distance and let your body get used to it 😊 otherwise just follow what’s fun and take it one step at a time. For me the best way to get fit is by learning movements that are fun and interesting. It shouldn’t feel like a workout. It should feel like play and exploration.
