Love that Yamaha blue way different than today's blue. That thing would be awesome for trail riding!!!!!
They were a little pipey but light and you could bend it around trees
Had one......best trail dirt thing ever experienced....plenty of speed....was well balanced.....on ground and in the.air.....
Four stupid things I did when I was in my teens and 20s. I sold my following bikes. Yahama 175 IT, Bultaco 250 Alpina, Hodaka 100B and Kawasaki 500 Mach 3.
Stupid me I sold my taco 360 and my it.s
Love the color on that little Yammer hammer.
IT175 was definitely the most fun, reliable bike i've ever owned.
Concur. Most ridable of all the dirt bikes I owned.
I had the DT as a kid. 175. Best trail bike I personally ever owned.
As a 15 year old farm kid, convinced Dad to replace my little '78 DT100 with an '80 IT175.
I was in heaven! I didn't even want a car until I went off to college, I couldn't wait to get home from school and go rip it up in the nearby overgrown gravel pits!
Oh the memories!🥰
With the stock pipe, powerband didn't get going until past mid-range, then it hit like a switch.
Later got a DG pipe, that really added much needed low-end power/torque.
I remember the 175 was a hot selling bike with good reviews.
What a great bike! Thanks for the video - brought back many fond memories of one I rode for over 10 years from mid 80's.
Just a note, the fenders for that year were white, other than that cool bike!
One of the best, most durable bikes i ever owned
I raced one of these for 3 years, replaced the topend once, just because
I had Three IT 175 great Bikes in there day raced them a lot in Australia, keep up the good work.
Blast from. The past I learnt on these my big brothers had a few love them still want a 465 it with the square headlight
Subbed. I been watching some of your videos of the past few days. I love the content, never even rode a motorcycle in my life.
I bought one from someone who didn't seem to either know to much or care to much or probably both I got the whole bike for 170 dollars I got it home today what a score hey
Clean one👍 had one as clean in 1990. Traded it with a 78 RM 250 to cement my drive way. Had the little black Yamaha tool bag on the back fender.
THATS A NICE LOOKING IT. ALWAYS LOVED THE IT MODELS . ALWAYS WANTED ONE
The last bike I had when I was still racing was a 1997 Yamaha YZ125 2 stroke she was a rocket!!!!
Two things you can do to gain 1/3 more power/rideability:
1. Throw the carb in the trash and put a non-powerjet 34mm carb on. Back then couldn't get power-jets and it was bigly lean in upper mid.
2. Silencer. That probably had most effect on power.
Stock these were NOT at all like the previous versions of IT's. Poor low-end and peaky like a 125.
I ported mine, gutted the pipe, put a fmf silencer on it,little gearing work, pirelli tires, air kit for the forks, and pulled many holeshots on that little 175,even in the open class!!
My first bike. I used to spank yz 125's all day.
Had a White 1981 IT 175, they were fast on the top-end!!
Awesome thanks for sharing this info with me
I bought my little brother one just like it probably around 1986 or 7. And of course I wrote it some and I could walk a wheels through every year but 6 gear
I rode a 79 IT-400. That thing was very much like the YZ. Throttle wheelies at will
A guy in NETRA was winning as an A rider open class with a 1979 IT 400 Modified with a YZ 400 motor
My best friends old man had one of thoes when we both rode ds80’s. Oh the memorys haha
Is that what john rambo rode?
Awesome Bike :) where do you get a plastic kit for the IT's, because i would be trying to put one my Dt400...
i had it same model....miss that bike...
Awesome it175 that Ken! Love it!
I had a 1983 it 175 awesome bike
Very cool, love those induros
Never figured out why the IT’S all had that weird engine rattle. Every one does it. Every cc size does it. The DTs don’t,the YZs don’t. Only the ITs
I have a 1981 and it rattles too runs mint though.
@@rogerbeginify I have two 79 175's...same thing, I always wondered the same thing.
It’s the rings guys, all air cooled Yamahas you can hear the rings rattling.
*Had a IT125 - with IT250 front forks/rear shock swa a GREAT enduro bike along with IT175's wish they built IT's still (moved on to KDX220) along with others*
Curious which IT you liked better.. the 175 or 250??
@@ZSharkPH Kinda thinking would pick the 250 today just to have more grunt. KTM/Husky/Beta/Sherco/GasGas is where it is at now - they got AWESOME bikes and Beta has a 200cc!!!
@@mecalpsha4473 Thanks for the reply.. I ride a 2003 KDX 220 mostly. I just like vintage 2 strokes to collect and ride.. Ride on Man.
I remember the 175 and 400s were popular and not many went for the 250s From New England , NETRA . The 175 was ideal for logging road and single track type rides even if not in competition.
Awesome 🎉
Love the tank.
Very nice,love to own it!!
White fenders were stock
Fun bike I had one 30 some years ago
Don't know if it's normal for this bike but it did sound like it had some wear to the little end roller bearing or gudgeon pin maybe? simple fix anyway. Bike looks fantastic!
chmoduk see my comment. They ALL make that noise. I don’t know why
Make a video about the mx175 yamaha
Nice little bike
Sorry about my spelling, I meant enduros.
Ssssssoooooo????? Basically a hotted up yz 125 for the road???info please
Nice I had One just like that one
I had this exact same IT 175 My only difference is my swingarm was steel probably the longest shock on any dirt bike for this year Long story short and sad story somebody stole it out of my mom's backyard in 1999 it's sad it was never recovered
I used to have one!
Nice bike. Would love to ride
Very nice quiete sound! Also the KDX 175,PE 175 and what sells Honda this time (1980) XL/XR?
Honda always did some thing different,. Like 4 stroke with a. 23 inch front rim also labeled things like the kick start . In case you forgot how to start it ?
@@ogarnogin5160 HaHa....right.....lol
Those Yama swingarms from that era were cool.
Comfortable and the rear shocks lasted for ever I bought one today its been painted orange and needs top rebuild but for 170 I'm not complaining even the pipe is in good nic and the rims are spot on u can't believe I scored it and for that price
Ha! My first bike was a 79 dt 175, blue, got it for $175😂
I wonder how that compares to a TS185, but that does look like a killer east coast woods bike.
Way faster than ts
Had a 1979 yamaha MX 175 , nice and quiet ...sold it to buy a car . all my friends Rm ,kx cr ,would attract the cops to loud.
one of the best for enduro IT 175 because ligh weigh
Awesome!
Just me or does It sound like is knocking a bit or is that just how they sound ??
That’s how two strokes sound. The engine is kinda quiet so it the engine noise is prominent. If it is knocking the motor is garbage if it’s a two stroke because valve clearance is usually the prob with ticking
How much
Love it
❤❤❤
So cool
I have a 1980 kdx 175
rippa from the big dippa
RHS Chain !
Says its stone cold but starts first kick
Mine does...
