    My Virgin Kitchen is a CZcams cooking channel created when I wanted to teach myself how to cook and create a video diary of the journey / mrbarrylewis . I have never had a professional lesson & am just your every day chap attempting recipes to inspire you guys to try too. I upload 2 recipe videos per week, but some fun is had too on Sunday when it is Funday where anything goes....including giant foods, mini foods, taste testing foods sent from around the World, kitchen gadget testing and many more. Any requests for recipes / cool stuff you've seen let me know! I try my best to reply to as many comments as possible, but it is hard to as I am busy working on the next video, but please interact with eachother and be respectful :-) #supersizeguys #giantfood #crunchie

      If you can find a project you can finish in a day, you should do it live :) No idea if it will be a success or not, but live streams for charity does tend to work out very well.

      Streams are typically the best options because they give instant gratification to the donators when stretch goals are met, but that might be hard with food stuff that has to sit for a long time. But, find something to fill the down time and you've got a winner for sure.

    • @stephanieann6622
      @stephanieann6622 Před 5 lety +7

      @Squoose each dog can have different allergies to the next. He would have to try to work in each allergy and it may lead to a not very good treat. And he'd have to break it up before hand since each dog is different at shelters some can't eat with other dogs without getting in a fight. Also most animal shelters will not allow you to bring in homemade treats because they don't know you. For all they know he laced it with cyanide poisoning or xylitol which is almost just as deadly to dogs. It's a sweet suggestion and thought but it wouldn't work.

    • @laurabilling3561
      @laurabilling3561 Před 5 lety +6

      @@stephanieann6622 It could work if he uses natural ingredients found in normal dog treats. Not all dogs have allergies, in fact it's pretty uncommon, especially if he were to use natural ingredients. He could also make it at the shelter, with shelter workers/volunteers, therefore eliminating the "he could be poisoning them" idea. He could either break it up before giving it to each dog, or could do lots of smaller ones or something, I'm sure if he got in touch with a shelter they would advise him on the best course of action. From what I know, shelters are always looking for publicity to try to increase people's awareness, a youtube collab with him making treat(s) for the dogs and maybe a little bit on the work the shelters do etc could actually be a good idea that would be beneficial to all involved.

    For the American audience, what our lovely British friends are calling honeycomb is almost exactly the recipe you use for making peanut brittle. The difference is a touch of salt, and obviously you pour the molten sugar mix over peanuts. I wonder why none of the American candy manufacturers have thought of making this kind of candy bar.
    Cheers guys. Great video as always!

Currently you can find them here ( Georgia, USA) but back in the day and before internet I would beg anyone that was headed your way to please bring me back one. It was a very rare treat. Later on my now husband traveled a lot on business. And when he could he would bring me a box of them home instead of flowers. He is a very smart man. Thanks for taking me down memory lane!

    We have crunchies in Australia
    Violet crumble is the same just another name/brand. We also call it honey comb

  • @jaeandtheamericans5541

    I live in America and I’m OBSESSED with Crunchies!
    There are a few places for me to get my Crunchies but they are all American produced.
    I plan on ordering straight from the UK but international shipping is not my thing (there was an incident)
    I found this video and decided oh what the heck.
    Wish me luck on my pursuit to get a Crunchie bar!

    Actually (at least in the USA) corn syrup comes in both light and dark varieties. Cane syrup is also available (though expensive), and actual golden syrup is available in the foreign foods section (also expensive).

    You could have lined it with cardboard then foil. Would have kept a good bit of the heat away from the plastic.

      You can get them in America. I am from Ireland and live in New York City now. You can get them here if you have a grocery that sells Uk imports. I can find them in LOADS of places. Think it helps that I am in a big city (of course) Always Amazon as well. Don’t feel silly I would do the same if I had too. It’s all grand, anything for chocolate. x

    Australia have both crunchies and violet crumble - different brands. They divide the country on who prefers which.
    In Canada they call honeycomb sponge toffee
