last time Josh discussed a previous running of the upcoming GP as "chaotic", the upcoming GP one-up'd it
It's Brazil so obvs
australia was wild
i was just thinking the same thing. if this year one ups 2003, then i'm going to need to re-do my entire top 10 races of all time list
The Revell Curse in full effect and I’m all for it 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I’m so hopeful
Fun fact: The Jordan that won that day is still in Brazil, straped to a wall of a mansion belonging to a famous TV host, Ex GT4 driver and F1 fan. And this guy has put in his testament that when he pass away, the car will belong to Giancarlo Fisichella.
Who's that?
@@luizarthurbrito Otávio Mesquita
@@luizarthurbrito Otavio Mesquita
What state is it in? I'm guessing it was rebuilt and re-prettied? It would be cool if it wasn't though. Fresh off the track would be baddass.
@@luizarthurbritoczcams.com/video/gBguXZ23Mxo/video.htmlfeature=shared
Winning with a car on fire is the coolest thing you can do, 2nd coolest that day is how Webber was able to save the car from that spin.
how about the trifecta with kimi's move around the outside on ralf
@@KenzieRetro"He began making moves down to the inside.
To the outside.
To the window.
To the wall."
It's especially fitting since that song came out in 2003.
@@CyanRooperi also miss those 2003 Formula 1 cars that reminded me a lot to F1 2003 PS2 game...😢
BMW WILLIAMS FW25 on F1 2003 and F1 2020 and TOCA RACE DRIVER 3 are still amazing to look at.
Lmao Raikkonen seemed more happy handing over the winner's trophy than he did when winning his 2007 title
I love how on the raceday podium Kimi just looks confused, but at the handover ceremony looks genuinely pleased.
@@elLootosame goes to Kotori Minami and Eli Ayase.
Even back then it was a hobby for him - He didn't care if he won a race/title 😉
fisichella is such a funny driver because he is literally the most memorable driver of the early 2000s despite not having that much success, just because he was involved in so much chaos and drama lol
That's how I remember him hahaha
Fisi was one of those drivers who could be occasionally brilliant, specially on certain tracks like Spa or Montreal but would be completely anonymous on other occasions. I always liked him but he could be such a frustrating driver to cheer for
He definitely had the “Jean Alesi effect” 😅
He was quite memorable. I remember had reading his wikipedia page to introduce him as my idol for the assignment, and whether you watched or read his F1 career, he was involved in a lot of crashes and accidents as if he lived for it. He was fast, talented, and extremely brilliant but only in keeping his position.
@@Nikelaos_KhristianosMakima (Setsuna Yuki of Chainsaw Man) and Honoka Kousaka and Charles Leclerc all have Alesi effect.
That Clarkson edit for Jos' crash was pure gold.
Oh no 😂😂😂😂
Makima when seeing Verstappen (not Max but J. Verstappen) crashing at Interlagos: Oh no.😂
The Jordan spontaneously combusting into flames at the end of the race is the icing on the cake 😂
6:59 - This is actually one of those what if scenarios - apparently, Verstappen was on a similar strategy to Fisichella, and was ahead of him when he spun; had he kept going, a Minardi may have won this race 😔
Verstappen the Graveltrappen
He wasn't known as Crashschtapon for nothing.
I read an article a few years ago that claimed to have solved part of the mystery of the junkyard of turn 3.
Apparently the giant dishwasher of the VIP hospitality were cycling at a rate of finishing one full load roughly every 9-10 laps.
Whenever they released their soapy and greasy wastewater it would immediately overflow because the drainage system was already overwhelmed by all the rain.
So most of that water would float down the backside of the end of the main straight, right across the track in turn 3.
Whichever driver was unlucky to hit that wave of greasy and soapy water at the wrong moment would end up in the outside barrier.
It says a lot that I honestly cannot tell if this is a joke or not.
@@TetraDax its real
@@TetraDax same for me.
Also funny to see someone from /r/de here
@@TetraDax I knew it was from the overflowing drains (so it was partially toilet water) i hadn't heard the dishwasher story
Thanks Josh for drawing attention to Fisi's talent of hauling dreadful cars to places they shouldn't be. The unfortunate years as Alonso's teammate tend to be the only ones mentioned by fans now when talking of Fisichella, people really need to remember that he was an absolute master of driving midfield and backmarker cars. No-one else could have got a podium in the 2001 Benetton or the 2003 Jordan. Guy was my hero as a kid because he did things you couldn't believe with inferior machinery. Just such a shame Alonso destroyed his entire legacy.
Same thing is happening to Perez right now. Hopefully we'll remember Perez for his podiums and win with Force India and Racing Point instead of his q1 exits with Red Bull.
Yeah these midfield carrier drivers seem to have such kind of fates. I was cheering upon him getting that pole in a fucking Force India back to 2009 but then when he got a drive for Ferrari, he became average again.
@@billhoult3262now we got El Plan vs El Defence.
People drastically overinflate Fisichella's slump at Renault. Fisi underperformed due to tensions between him and the team. Even the whole "2 seconds slower a lap" thing was nonsense. As soon as he was yelled at to pick up the pace over the radio, he did. He shortened the gap immediately. Fisi was NOT slow.
There's 2 things i noticed in this video:
1) Josh mistakened Jacques Villeneuve for Cristiano Da Matta as Panis' teammate (Villeneuve was at BAR;not Toyota)
2) There's no sponsor in this video 😢
No joke Interlagos is just the best F1 track ever
Even when we get awful seasons it never fails to deliver a BANGER
Such a shame money won and it was removed from the season ender honor. It's THE perfect end of the season race, especially if the fight at the top is close
My favorite grand prix curcuit with sazuka. Fast, flowy, good racing and most of all fun to drive
Interlagos is definitely one of the top tier tracks along with spa, Silverstone and suzuka
@@HaulinbassracingMakima (Setsuna Yuki of Chainsaw Man) ironically also love Suzuka and Interlagos.
Interlagos NEVER ceases to deliver.
I attended this race in 2003. First time traveling to Brazil and asked my friend to get us tickets for the Grand Prix. Saturday with Rubinho winning pole, the crowd was so loud, but rain on Sunday on the drive to the track, trying to find places to stand, we found that we could only get to bottom of the Senna S, which was perfect for the carnage in front of us later. I saw Fisichella pass for the lead (could see it from our seats) and crossed the finish line in the lead. Get back to friends home and saw the crash by Alonzo on TV. He got lucky. Rubens pulling out was just sad to the home fans, but Fisichella’s win was a great memory.
One of the pure clasics, and a very bizzare way to win your first race
I’m a lifelong nascar fan but over the past 2-3 years I’ve become a huge F1 fan ( I know, I’m a dumb naïve American lol ) your videos havereally helped me learn about some of the history of F1 and those moments that all fans should know. Keep up the great videos!!! Also as a Team Trackhouse fan, I’m super pumped for the next few years with SVG joining the team

@@souldry Hes in better hands haha.
@@Amm17ar they all think that, until we take away their burgers
5:13 Panis was with Toyota (as clearly shown in the footage) and Jacques was still with BAR... Da Matta was Olivier's teammate 😉
I'd forgotten (or didn't realise at the time) the rule about only one type of wet weather tyre being allowed at each event. I imagine any money saved that year from that rule was outweighed by the cost of crash damage from this race.
It honestly seems it was the Bianchi situation what started the modern F1 terror of rain
Yeah wtf is that rule.
Spa, Interlagos, Monza, Suzuka. Tracks that should never leave the calendar.
Webber in 2003 was class. One of the most exciting young driver from 2002 till 2004
His career is one very large string of what-ifs. A lot of people forget that he was once considered a top young talent.
@@walover165the 2005 Williams season ruined him. He was expected to destroy Heidfeld and bring Williams back to the front. Instead the car was worse than in late 2004 and Heidfeld was actually beating him on points before his injury.
@@walover165 Yep ik it's not the best comparison but Brundle said that his driving reminded him of Senna after his great malaysia lap in 2004 . Genuinely would have been a World Champion if not for his constant issues at the start of the races and could have honestly been a bigger threat to Alonso than Fisi and Trulli ever were if he had joined Renault instead of Williams
@@Undivided_X it's true that Webber wasn't at his best in 05 but the team also completely failed him. They promised a car to fight for the title and delivered a midfield car at most of the races and on the rare occasions that the car actually had the pace reliability cost him big time . 2006 is even worse caus the car was not even top 5 and Webber still managed to put himself on podium contention in a few races just for the engine to blow up in every single one of those races
@@timmynicolas8729the 2006 Williams was a shitbox, cause they lost their works-BMW engines and the cosworth engines they now used instead were horribly unreliable.
I'm glad they did a makeshift ceremony for giving the trophy to Fisi. Some people criticize it for being so low-key compared to an actual podium, but many sports would just have the erroneous winner send over the trophy. F1 has the goodwill to make a big deal out of honoring the actual winner while doing so. Yeah, it may not have been a proper podium celebration, but I'd rather they do that than NOTHING.
Ah yes! The first F1 race I ever watched, and certainly got me hooked on to Racing as a whole. An absolute classic!
Wow what an absolutely entertaining race, the brazen overtakes, the scary crashes i mean oh my god so many of these are so scary, my heart broke when barichello ran out of fuel because of a system error, and when fisichella was not awarded the win despite the team jubilations and the burning car on top of that. Glad they rightfully rescinded that decision and kimi seemed cool about it as always. What a great story! Man f1 history is so gripping im so glad i got into this sport!
A very clever strategy, the Bridgestone intermediates being the right tyre to be on at the right moment and some excellent driving from Fisichella got him the win. Jos Verstappen in the Minardi was on the same strategy and tyres, and was ahead of Fisichella on the road, but binned it at turn three - it could've at least been a Minardi podium, if not a win!
Club Social, I'm in tears. Haven't seen those in Argentina since 2005/6 maybe, don't know if they're still in production. So many memories, they were the best at school breaks❤
I remember Eddie Jordan flipping the bird at the stewards after they reversed the initial decision.
12:20 The fact that it made Kimi laugh is proof that it was indeed the best joke ever by the FIA.
Wow! Action packed race. Bloody shame 'Rubinho' didn't get the win in his home Grand Prix.
Shame Haikonen didn't get that one. He would be the champ
He never did in the end.
@@Jedi9Master he wouldn't. He was 2 points behind Michael and he would get those 2 points if he won, but Michael had 7 wins and Kimi would have 2, so Michael would have won on countback anyway.
I was a big fan of Jordan and Fissi - a shame that they weren't able to celebrate this win on the podium but at least ig was recognised in the end.
"Rain fell on the circuit that day, which meant everything was wet." Thanks for clearin' that up, mate!
One of those classic races that in my opinion doesn't get talked about as much as it should
Josh making fun of Jo's verstappen is like just punching a shark then sticking his head in its mouth😂
Best race I’ve ever seen in my life! I was a huge Jordan fan and couldn’t believe they won.. and then didn’t.. and then did!
Great video, the only bad thing was realising this was TWENTY years ago 😮
Literally the first race I properly remember, the webber and alone crashes were so gnarly...I was hooked from that moment, 20 years later I'm still just as excitable on race day as I was when I was a child. My favourite era was 2003-2006 weirdly enough, loved it
I can't believe that was over 20 years ago - I can remember watching it so vividly
Ooooooooooh, one of my favorite races ever 🤘🔥 Thanks for covering this one!
Brilliantly done. Loved the commentary! It really was a great race.
Never ever stop making beautiful motorsport content. I love you Josh. You remind me why motorracing is life. In every form.
Had Kimi Räikkönen actually won that race, it would have been the closest title fight in F1 history with schumacher winning the championship by a grand total of 0 points
5:13 Villeneuve wasn't his team mate that year. Alonso was given a penalty for over taking Ralf under yellows.
This was the first race I watched and what got me hooked. 20 years later, still going lol
One of my new favorites from you. Cheers!
This is one of my all time favourite F1 races. Beautiful chaos that kept you guessing, and even once the race was over it was still not done!
Just listened to The Race Bring Back V10's podcast on this race no more than a couple hours prior to you uploading!
Awesome timing
Always happy to see Josh has uploaded a new video
another banger episode man! I really enjoyed this one
I don't know what time it is in upside down land, but Josh always uploads at lunch time. Thanks Josh!
I might go and watch the full race tonight. Thanks
Genuinely one of the best races of all time and I still do the little cheer seeing Fissi take the lead! Has the most typical F1 memory of watching the news the next day with them swapping trophies as well
Always good to hear some love headed towards JPM thats a racing drivers favorite racing driver
I just gotta be honest man, your video editing skills are good enough that you don’t have to cut to a bitmoji every 30 seconds just waving his arm around.
The first F1 race I ever watched. And what a great start it was.
Great video! I love that race too, so much even that I bought the Minichamps race specific model of Fizzy's Jordan, twice!
Really nice video! Unfortunately when that amazing track gets wet nowadays there won't bei any racing... but that race was one for the history books an so many levels! I was really sorry für Fisi that day although I was a big Kimi and McLaren fan (best combo ever!). He got the trophy and the points back but not that moment after the race. So I was happy seeing him winning some more races later on. He deserved it!
Love you, Josh of your videos of F1
Did i only now notice Josh's interesting speech? The way that last syllable is prolonged in words "Heroeees", "Jordannnnn","rain fell on the circuit that dayyyyy"
Man, I just noticed how long Josh drags out words between phrases and I can't unheeeeaaarrrrr it. (love the vids)
I remember this race like it was yesterday ❤
This was my 3rd ever race I watched on TV. Of course I became hooked on the sport afterwards. Imagine watching MSC winning the first race of the season, then see Kimi get his first ever win in Sepang the very next race, and then watched this chaotic race a few weeks afterwards!
Again Josh lets me re-live some memories that shaped my motorsport childhood
I remember watching this live back in 2003. This is the race that made me a fan of both Kimi and Alonzo. Before he crashed, Fernando was making up positions and doing really great passes. I was glad that the gave Fischi is win.
The Curse is real... very, VERY *REAL* and I'm all about it.
6:40 He was a 5-time champion at that point.
Love you Josh, because of your videos❤❤❤❤
This is tbh the best race i have ever watched including a podium with every still standing driver in the wrong position
Josh, even though you're too young to have watched this on the day, your analysis nailed it. Thanks mate.
I remember watching that race
what a race it was!
This was the first or second year I watched F1. I remember this race like yesterday. Soo much going on.
I watched this race live and it will always be my favourite F1 race. I was an 11 year old Jordan fan and was absolutely ecstatic and then devastated, that Fisi was initially denied the victory. This was the only Jordan F1 win I witnessed live, as I had only started watching less than 2 years earlier. I think this might be the only F1 race in history where no driver was stood in their correct position during the podium ceremony.
Also an interesting fact about this race - during one of the ad breaks one of the absolute greatest tv adverts ever made debuted on ITV (UK channel). It was Honda’s “The Cog”. If you somehow haven’t watched it, I absolutely implore to do so. It’s on CZcams and it’s absolutely incredible.
Can't believe that this race is over 20 years old. When Jordan was celebrating I was celebrating & when the FIA gave the win to Kimi I was upset. I kept on saying Fisichella won & that drove my Mum mad
There had to be this full race available
This is my earliest F1 memory
I'm excited to see this years Brazil GP top the chaos of this one now that you made a video. Australia all over again. lol
I saw that race live on TV. It was crazy.
I always loved races where Jordan won
love your vids josh
Totally remember this race and the trophy swap at Imola. I felt really bad for Fisi not getting to properly celebrate his first win.
Brazil always produces the most exciting races on f1
2 minutes into the video I noticed how you elongate the last syllable of every phrase and I couldn't unhear it for the remaining 11 minutes. I don't know if people already noticed this.
I'm really glad that Raikkonen overtake on Coulthard was also mentioned this week in the official F1 channel :D
Unironically might be my favourite grand prix of all time.
"drying power of an asthmatic blowing through a straw" DIABOLICAL lmmaaaoo
I mean, '03 Brazil has to have the weirdest podium celebration ever. Just the fact Kimi and Fisi are switched and Alonso on the way to the hospital... nuts
In retrospect, had Kimi kept the win, he still lost to Michael on countback
@@Limegreenedragon sure, but that's not what I'm talking about here
Honestly goated drive from Fisi
From early to mid 2000's even in the late 2000's too were the wildest era of F1, but now its just plain racing, but yeah, love the thrill and excitement of F1 races tbh
1:42 "Rain fell upon the curcuit that day which meant that everything was wet" - Josh Buxton, 2023
What a race that was! Great day for Jordan.
These old liveries, the shape of that Generation of f1 cars, Just beautiful
Pure gold commentary at 7:23 brilliant
That Trulli joke won’t go missed 🤣
The most craziest races I've seen it has everything keep Brazil on the calendar DAMMIT
That Jos Verstappen comment followed by a meme actually made me laugh out loud xD
I cannot wait for your take on Monaco 1996
Love the humor it's legendary 😂❤
awesome video
Only in interlagos 😂 My favorite track in the world. And yes, that race was great, the good ol' formula 1 on v10's❤
I was there on this race and I remember Schumacher crashing right in front of the standings I was at :D
I think you should talk about Australian pro motocrossers Jett and Hunter Lawrence.
Their story alone, of them and their family packing up, selling everything, moving to Europe, and then packing up and selling everything AGAIN, moving to America, working with Johnny O'Mara, both having a rough rookie year (with Jett having a season-ending wreck at Anaheim in 2019, and Hunter never finishing in the top 5 all year in MX2 in Europe in 2017). But in the end, all the sacrifice, hard work, and tragedies on the track finally paid off for them in 2021. They got sponsored by Red Bull, they got factory rides with Honda HRC, a team that were a shell of their former selves at the time. Still they kept winning. In 2023, the Lawrence brothers both had what could be described as the single greatest year of pro supercross/motocross they ever had. Jett won the 250 West supercross championship, moved up to the 450 class in motocross, and he would go on to win all 11 rounds, all 22 motos. A perfect season. Hunter won the 250 East supercross championship, and would come out on top during a highly competitive 250 motocross season. Hunter's also set to make the jump to the 450 class in 2024.
Yes!!! Probably the most chaotic race ever. This side of the 1999 European GP and 2011 Canadian GP.
If Raikkonen had kept his win, he would have still not won the championship since him and Schumacher would be tied on 93 points and the latter would still take the title on countback.
