- pennstatehershe... Former Gettysburg College basketball player Cory Weissman, a 1000-point scorer in high school, knows one thing for certain-a stroke can sideline any one at any time. Just after his freshman season, Cory suffered a devastating stroke caused by an undetected malformation in his brain called an arteriovenous malformation, or AVM.
Through life-saving procedures at Penn State Hershey Stroke Center, and extensive rehabilitation, Cory returned to the court the final game of his senior year to beat the odds...and score the point of his life.
Just like Cory was, I'm going through lots of therapy due to a stroke i had this summer caused by an AVM rupture it affected my left side. His story is so inspirational since i also need to get back on the court and finish Highschool strong
