In this video, we are going to look at present perfect in Spanish. We are going to do that by looking at people that know it all or people that think they are perfect.
Present perfect in Spanish is used to talk about something that has happened in the past and is still happening right now. Some examples what we are talking about would be…
I have been to Italy.
I have worked there.
I have eaten there.
To use present perfect you will need two things. The first is the auxiliary verb and the second is the verb ending in “ado” or “ido”.
With these two things, you will be able to make the present perfect. Now let’s take a look at an example.
Comer comida china
He comido comida china. (I have eaten Chinese food)

Hola maria! Im having some trouble with the imperfect subjunctive. I know that it can be used to be more polite like, “quisiera una manzana” but im having trouble still. En una cancion se llama “que hubiera sido” i was wondering why it is “hubiera” instead of “habria”? My spanish friends say it is the same but i still don’t understand why it is hubiera instead of habria. Is it because of the “que” because you don’t know what would have been? Please help, muchas gracias ! :-)

Hmm I've never heard that use of the present perfect means the action is still ongoing. Like Cody's example, "I have been to Italy," does not imply that the person still lives there. "I have worked at that company" doesn't imply you still work there; for example, I've worked at a coffee shop (more literally "I've had the experience of working at a coffee shop") but I don't work at one currently.

Love using verbals this way but hate it being called Present Perfect and yet a PAST TENSE--¡Ay! Muy Madre. I now call it the "He Ha" Tense. Present perfect tense = gringo LOCO !! :-)

En España usan más "he dormido..." para hablar del pasado. En América usamos más "dormí...". ¿Qué prefieres usar?
Se te olvida incluir las formas irregulares! Por ejemplo verbos como “visto”, “hecho”, etc!

Mh... if the verb ends in -er or -ir, the past participle will end in -ido. If the verb ends in -ar, the past participle will end in -ado.
Example: Comer - comido / Dormir - dormido. Caminar - caminado. :)

Haber is Haya, hayas, haya, hayamos, hayan in the subjunctive. Imperfect subjunctive it is hubiera, hubieras, hubiera, hubiéramos, hubieran.
