- Carrying on with the "Lockdown Equipment Series", here is my preferred way to route and tidy up excess webbing on a sidemount harness.
I like to keep the method low cost & simple as well as easily allowing for different thicknesses of exposure suit I use.
I shot and narrated the video in real time to try and show that it is fairly quick and simple - so no reason not to tidy up your equipment these days :-) - Sport
Thank you for the great video. In 2:40 minutes, I see that you removed the metal plate and bolt altogether and used a cord or bungee to attach the bladder and webbing plate. Could you please elaborate, the benefits and how you exactly did that?
Hi, this is an older method of tying down the wing to the crotch webbing - this was a harness from a dive who had it already done. It uses bungee through the wing tab and around the crotch webbing.
I don't actually use or recommend it though - there are better ways to do it, and we show that in our online materials at sidemounting.com :-)
Vas, could you make a video on how you permanently attached the wing to the backplate?
Hi Tony,
You can get some ideas from a search for "xdeep stealth fix to harness" and look at the images.
Essentially the wing tab (that has the metal eyelet) is folded and put under one the of the strips of the weight pocket and then the whole thing is pinned in place with strong bungee.
Depending on your body size, this can shorten the wing and make it a little bulkier - but that's not often a big problem.
If you need the space on your crotch for other stuff, then sure, this is a good way to keep it clear.
Let me know how it goes :-)
Can you also explain what are the benefits of permanently attaching the wing to the harness.
@@gkos12 Not having to faff around with the wing itself is the main one.
Once you have the ideal position located you don't have to deviate from that.
