Good tips and reviews. The 10hp was made up until 1963. It was discontinued with the introduction of the 9.5hp in 1964. These last 5 years were with the fuel pump. The pressure tanks were discontinued beginning in 1959 but some models were shipped in '59 with the pressurized system. I just did a conversion from a 2 line to a single line system on a '59-10 Johnson. The 5.5 was made until 1964 - the 6hp (which is the same powerhead as the 5.5hp) was introduced in 1965 and continued in production until 1979.

These motors are really well made and will last of taken care of. Almost all of the maintenance parts are available. There really is no reason to buy a very expensive newer motor, unless where you use them 2-cycle are not allowed.

I fix these motors there the best not worth much the public wants new compecated expensive and not reliable
