How does the 2nd round exception year 1 money work? They can sign Furphy for up to that 1.85M figure or as little as the rookie minimum? Or it's one or the other where the amount can't fall in the middle?
Obi agreed to a new contract. Pacers likely done with FA, but the roster is pretty full. Small trades could still be done.
If Pacers want to improve on the rebounding and defense I would let obi and Jalen walk I would project on Jarace Walker and Oscar T and see what they can do on defense in the front court coming off the bench...
NBAs crazy. You get a STRONG YOUNG team that shocks the world. Established star player says, "I wanna play with THAT!" but he wants so dang much to play, you end up losing the very team he came to join.

Yup. Too much of a liability on defense to pay him more than that IMO, specifically based on what this team needs.

That depends on what you can get with your MLE. If you can replace him, sure. Being restricted you'll have time to see what you *could* get most likely. But you don't let him walk. We need $ to match $ in a trade, if nothing else. Could be useful at anything that takes you to the tax.

Resigning Toppin was somewhat a bad move. He doesn't play defense nor grab rebounds on a regular basis. I would rather spent that amount going after Jonathan Kuminga who can play the 3 and the 4.
Resigning a backup center is easy. A simple backup center is Drummond etc.

Sign James Wiseman with Obi Toppins, James Wiseman will be a Great back up to Myles Turner.
Could have had OG, Hartenstein, Obi and another solid backup SF/SG. While also having solid FA's and even traded a pick or two to improve the next year's draft. Smh.. Traded for a Caruso.. They fkd up so bad and I saw it coming from day one. Idc what anyone says.
Pacers scared to death to pay Obi and sign a player over 6 mil. Omg don't go into the first apron. Lose everyone, at least you have Pascal. Lol could have had 3 player's for his price tag. One's that could actually shoot and defend both. Would have had OG anyways most likely if they'd waited. Terrible off-season. No surprise. Couldn't even make a decent trade for a guy like Caruso. They better hope and pray to God that Mathurin has a breakout year. Becomes Prime D-Wade, or Oladipo.

Who would you choose to "round out the team" NOT in that top-tier of players, that you don't already have? AND you have the clip FULL with players in development. The scariest thing is that the Pacers have TOO MANY young pieces to hold.
They may not be scared to death, that's just the reality that makes the most sense to me. And 3 players would not have been as good/valuable as Pascal.
