    I was taught this move recently at a Jiu Jitsu seminar. It was hard to resist, I'm impressed.

    excellent video sensei, and I agree with others in that I really love the way that you explain the technique always breaking it down into discrete step by step snap shots. I will continue to use your videos to correct my techniques.

    I have difficult with shiho nage because i'm normally taller than the uke. See you doing this technique help me a lot because i imagined that i'd have to down below the uke's arm. I've never saw a video that demontrate shiho nage with the nage taller than uke. Thanks for this video sensei!

      @MartialArtsJourney  Před 8 lety +1

      Awesome! I actually really understand what you mean. Being as tall as I am, I realized that Aikido for tall people is actually more difficult than vice versa. But trust me, as you go along there are many tricks you can apply to make it easier. Speaking of this, I think it would be awesome to make a whole video on how to do Aikido for tall people. Thanks for the idea! ;)

      But problems are connected with small people as well. I am teaching kids and for example tenchi nage or iriminage are hard techniques for them because they as well as tall people have to work with uke more then people who have same height. Therefore (in my opinion) is really good for everyone to try one technique with different height people even if it is not comfortable (shihonage with really small people) because after that you are learning how to work with uke to understand his movements to reach unity with him and to finalize by redirecting of the uke's attack to harmonic technique.

    • @MartialArtsJourney
      @MartialArtsJourney  Před 8 lety +1

      Very true. I agree that based on the height differences one has to adjust and learn some principles/tricks to do it properly. I also agree that changing partners is most essential to experience and learn in all ways

      Thanks. I find it's always easier for people to learn a technique when it's explained step by step with reasons behind the movement. I'm glad it helped

      Right. Do you think maybe you could do one like that for the ikkyo or tsuki kote gaeshi techniques? You really explain these things well.

    Please watch Stanley Pranins video blog for shiho nage !
    There is an atemi and a arm lock at the beginning! Your technique is easy to counter!
    Seems to me you don´t need (or want) any martial elements in your aikido - ??? very beautyful.....like dancing!
