    Wouldn't it be better to use push kicks and that kind of thing to keep them away from you instead of clinching with them? cause as soon as you're close to them they're just going to stab you until you bleed out so wouldn't you just want to keep them away from you in the first place?

    the value in BJJ/GJJ for women isn't in the submissions, its in the stress inoculation from repeated open mat sessions and the escapes.

    Also, I would argue, having been around in the time, that much of the Krav Maga started from, stemmed from Ninjitsu. We trained people all over the world and many ABC organizations, especially the Israelis, because they didn't give a fk about your feelings or legalities. They were simply looking for the fastest and deadliest techniques that a modern soldier could use with their modern gear. The Israelis, French, and Germans were some of our best students. Years later, the USA started looking into it, but because of our snowflake mentality and legal systems, they couldn't continue openly. It was considered "too dirty, too deadly" for its time. That's also the time when all personal defense weapons started to become illegal. For exactly the same reasons 🤔 nearly all Ninjitsu weapons are still felonies in the USA, especially in places like California.

    So many masters of bullshyt and so few have the experience needed to make such claims. Take Ninjitsu for example... if you go back to when it was first introduced to the USA, you would know that training in multiple arts was taboo and you would be ridiculed. Ninjitsu, is in part numerous arts combined and i would argue that it was formally the first MMA. There's a strange bias against Ninjitsu with some very good reasons i won't get into here & now. If you studied early Ninjitsu you would have noticed that everyone talking shyt about it secretly adopted many of its techniques but refused to give credit where credit is due. Another thing you saw commonly was many MA schools would falsely claim to have studied Ninjitsu and teach it. I witnessed this all throughout the 70s, 80's and 90's. So yes, there's tons of BS out there but if you were of the right mind and were trained by the same in Japan, you would know just how awesome it truly can be. I'm no master but have trained in it. It has absolutely saved my life hundreds of times from homeless fights, to bar fights, with and without weapons used against me. 30+ years security and it has been my savior time and time again. Full breakdown of it not possible here, and i absolutely do advocate for studying other arts simply so you have knowledge of all body mechanics.

    study of thousands of street fights militates heavily in favor of ground game skills, so I think she rates BJJ too low, but regardless ideally you need to study striking as well as weapons and weapons defense..and today, with so many schools available for most, there is no good reason not to cross train, also you want a low injury training system ideally and good teachers..

    It's important to remember some of this stuff was simply entertaining mythos, urban lore and a creative hobby for a lot of people. Dressing up and playing Ninja is fun. The same way Heavy Metal fandom or Cosplay is fun. The danger is presenting entertaining make belive as genuine self defence against violence. Violence is tragically real. Violence something else completely.

    I also looked critically at Bujinkan and I made a mistake that you also made! In the video you compare Bujinkan with eg Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! Take a look at the family tree of BJJ and you will see where it ends up and compare that with the schools that teach in Bujinkan! But the fact is that if you don't train sparing you can't fight!

All of us may have hated each other but we also respected each other. So win or loser. The matter was settled once the fight ended. Not like today’s gangs were they shoot at each other just for accidentally bumping shoulders AND MISSING POINT BLANK!

    In The history of the the martial arts on the Philippines the weapons were created based on the materials that were available according to the regions / geographical locations. Some regions had access to metal and created bladed weapons such as the "Bolo" and "Daggers". However, other regions didn't have access to metal so that created weapons from trees such as "Rattan" and created Stick Weapons ie "Batons" by first soaking them in "Salt Water" and then "Fire Hardening" them. The Techniques when using the "Blade" is naturally a "Slicing" motion. Although, the "Stick" is more of an "Impact weapon" in the Filipino Arts of Kali, Escrima, and Arnis the movement of the "Stick" is also executed in a "Slicing" manner. ... For reference research the works and recorded history of Dan Inosanto, Cancoy Canete, Floro Vilabrillo. Ben Largusa , Remy Presas, etc. ... M.B. ...

  • @eend497
    @eend497 Před dnem

    I'm convinced that martial arts is predominantly about footwork (sorry wing-chin). You look at some top MMA, they're in and out super quick. Boxers are turning and positioning. indeed in boxing and aikido a basic principle is that they should be infront of you, but you're not infront of them. I saw another weird martial art (forget name) and they were very much into turning, repositioning and redirecting. What aikido maybe suffers from is an ability to be fully aware of feints and strategies, so I do think in competition it is highly flawed, while not being flawed in the general drunken brawl.

  • @eend497
    @eend497 Před dnem

    Great video. I (as an aikidoka) used to spar with Judoka, and looked very similar. A few points (1) Aikidoka are generally very good at balance and body positioning, and can easily move to avoid typical Judo throws (2) the distance they are fighting at is Judo grappling distance, not aikido. A fundamental principle of Aikido is to move before contact and the expectation is that a committed attack, not a comptition ie. no feints from attacker (3) aikidoka relax more than judoka in general, and often the Judo guys tire more quickly and become easier to throw. (4) judoka get penalised for not attacaking, so when not using Judo rules the aikidoka has an advantage cos they can wait for the Judoka to overcommit, but don't commit anything themselves. Not glamorous breakdown, but this is the reality. I never got thrown by Judoka when sparing with them (this isn't to say Judo is crap by any means, but that if you know a bit about balance and positioning you can avoid most throws, and that sparring is not self-defence). Congrats to Chadi too - he has one of the best channels on youtube so please check him out, he's a star.

    For self-defense you should train in situational awareness, de-escalation of conflicts, running and possibly, in urban environments, how to do free running and urban stealth in order to run and hide from possible pursuers, you also need knowledge of law, if you accidentally kill somebody by getting into a fight you can be charged with manslaughter. To fight is the last resource in self-defense only when all other options have failed. I know many examples of people who are trained in martial arts, including MMA and Muay Thai who got themselves killed by multiple assailants using knives, one case in particular was a police officer's son who was stabbed to death when he tried to apply his MMA knowledge to defend against a street gang who attacked him. Another example was a sportsperson who got into a fight and won with his martial arts skills only to be later on shot dead at a gas station by the person he beat up. Self-defense is not the same as street fighting and street fighting has no rules, no referees, but you are still bound by a country's laws. If you get out of it alive and avoided fighting that is a win, in self-defense.
