    “Lying in the Lovegrass”
By Shelby Brown, U-M LSA student
Lovecharm, lovestruck, I am lying in the
    lovegrass. After months spent wading
through broken ice, time smelt our wounds
and ripped us open, so we walked with our
heads down to feel the Sun on our aching
necks. These days, it is easy to confuse a
Michigan summer for love. I sauntered,
and my eyes followed the cracks on the
sidewalk, so as not to hurt my mother.
Later, after the Sun set and with it my
inhibitions, I skipped over the potholes in
the back-way streets until I felt sticky and
laid myself in a street-light spotlight so
that the pelting rain could cleanse me of it.
