- The purpose of this video is to help those who have some experience in harmonium repairing and maintenance to learn basics of scale-changer harmonium maintenance in an easy and practical way.
Disclaimer: The purpose of this video is NOT to encourage scale-changer harmonium owners to do this process themselves. Disassembling, cleaning and reassembling of scale changer harmonium is a delicate process and I do not recommend inexperienced persons to do it.

Interesting! Would it be possible to convert a scale changer harmonium into a fixed key one? I personally would prefer the range of a fixed key but fixed key harmoniums with 3 or more reed banks are somewhat rare.
It's not possible. Two completely different designs.

Great information sir. Quick questions - How can you level the keys of a scale changer harmonium so that when moving up a scale, the level remains balance?
Hi Sir. Thank you for your kind reply. There are two small screws on each key. One screw on the front movable part of the key and the other one on the back movable part of the key. These two screws should be used to level the keys properly. But it is a very touchy job and it take some experience to level all keys properly. Especially if the harmonium is a bit old, or lower quality and the functionality of the screws is not proper. It is not enough to level screws properly in one scale-changer position since the levels can change in the next scale-changer position as described in your question. So it is important to level the whole set of back screws properly first (to make all back parts of the keys properly leveled between themselves) and then to proceed with all the screws on the front parts of the keys. In that way the proper key levels will be kept in all scale-changer positions. I hope this helps.

Hi, I am a musician. I play harmonium and I have a harmonium that works fine. Unfortunately, that is not the case with my friend who has a harmonium that is used very little, basically new. He wants to learn playing harmonium from me. It appears that the harmonium was damaged during transportation. The two sets of keys on his harmonium are not aligned, thus a couple of keys slide of the alignment while playing. The knob in the front that is used to change scales, is bent during transportation.

Who should make the wood harmonium? I made teakwood use all Harmonium,parts .but the craftsman put soft body in cabinet inside Harmonium Wow, even if the body should be stiff outside, then the inside did not leak because the soot did not leak. And harmonium Reed board teakwood
Hare krishna, have a one question, why the Harmmonium manufacturer leaves this base plate unpolished ?? If they do spirit polish only on all internal part like base plate, keys , coupler arms etc, it will increase life and air tight?? Can we do spirit polish by hand on these internal parts at home?? Pl advise.
The best would be that you ask this question to harmonium manufacturers. I am not a harmonium manufacturer and I don't know the definite answer. However, I doubt that the polish would have any effect on air tight. It may increase wood life... but I have seen 80+ years old harmoniums which are quite nice without such polish.
