Nothings more fun than feeding the hobby with an item you can use and enjoy! Congratulations on your new acquisition!
I don't think any of us regular viewers had a doubt. Good thing you have plenty of room to store another tractor with the barn addition haha!
@@jakefrechette3224😊
I'm w/ ih824, @jakefrechette3224, & @johnmathews1772......
I think ALL of us are eagerly anticipating the beauty of this 856 after you're done with it....but as usual Pete...we enjoy you sharing that journey with us!😊👍
I agree with this my grandpa has around 33 old international tractors and John Deere’s
So nice to see a good transaction between a good seller and a good buyer. That tractor came from a good home and is going to a good home.
Congratulations Pete they all look good when your done working on them 😊😊😊
Congrats on the new tractor. It looks like it was well maintained and well cared for. Enjoy!
Hard to pass on a machine that’s been maintained with obvious care.
I bet Millard is excited to see someone buy his tractor who will restore and use it and be as proud of it as he once was. Love to see it Pete!!
Good for you Pete. Hope you teach Millard how to watch you make hay with his old tractor. You could tell he was very proud of the condition he had kept it in all those years.
It was great to meet him. He showed me his collection; he had a Packard and a Studebaker that he restored, both beautiful.
@@pinkribbonrailroad1157yep...
@@JustaFewAcresFarm I have a pic of me with my cowboy boots on the fender straddling the headlights of an old (now) Packard my Dad had💙
Just with the brief video, and his few sentences,Millard is the sort of guy you want for a neighbour,a friend,or better yet, kinfolk. I bet he has solid family as well.
Bittersweet indeed selling up as he no longer uses the acquisitions of a lifetime.
I wish him well.
As a kid our city cop drove a Packard, straight 8 engine, can't remember the tranny..
Glad that tractor found you, i think it deserved its new life.
Pete, I wish you could see the grin on my face while watching this video. I grew up on a dairy farm, but it “wasn’t my thing” in my teens and twenties. I married a city boy who has never experienced country life and had no desire for it. As I aged and my eyes were opened more and more to this deteriorating country, I began to long for that rural, simple life again. Finally, my husband’s eyes were opened 31/2 years ago (😉) and we started homesteading on our minuscule 2 acres. We aren’t in a position to purchase more land yet, but we are at least on the same page now, and hope to purchase at least 20 acres in the future. We are in our late forties now, so hopefully we will make that jump soon.
Pete, you’re channel is so incredible. You and your family bring me so much joy, real joy. May God continue to bless you. Congrats on your new addition. 🚜
Pete and 856 = LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT 😃😃😃😃😃
Pete: I'm the guy who worked for IH and sold the 990 mower conditioner that we demonstrated with an 856D, a company owned tractor turned up to around 140hp. The custom came out during my time with the company. Absolutely thrilled that you found one in fantastic original condition-they're rare. Looking forward to your restoration. Thanks for the great videos!
Your happiness in obtaining this new addition for your hobby was radiating right through the screen. 👏🏻
My mom lived in Cattaraugus county (married my dad and moved to North Carolina) and the couple of times we got to visit Delevan, I was always amazed at just how beautiful the land was there. Thanks for the glimpse of NY countryside. Love your channel!
Years ago I traveled the state roads between Albany/Syracuse and points west. Went to the baseball HOF in Cooperstown. I was amazed at the beauty of upstate NY. When people in the midwest think of NY, they think of New York City. They don't realize what they are missing.
@@mikewigim2864 my feelings exactly. I was born in Rochester and raised in Henrietta. The countryside in Pete’s video here are exactly the same as the countryside around Henrietta when I was growing up in the mid 40’s thru 1960’s. Red barns, farm houses and open farm land. It has all changed now,but what good memories.
I’m very quick to tell people that upstate NY is very different than NYC.
@@mikewigim2864 if I had to live in New York city with the loonie tunes I'd be as lost as a bat in a hail storm, being from small town USA I don't feel I've lost anything there or any other large city. Guess it's all in what area a person grows up in that makes the world spin.. 🤣 Pete's area is beautiful place.
Even the people who grew up in NYC hate NYC. The state is so beautiful, the city is just a millstone around its neck.
@@brandywineblue 😂🤣🤣🤣
I spent hundreds of hours on one of those, strong, reliable, favorite tractor of all time.
The smile at the end says it all. Enjoy, and thank you for sharing your buying experience with us.
Always exciting to add a new member to the herd
Hope she's a diamond for you! We love you're videos and have been watching from the beginning - Danvers Ma
❤💚❤Just one word for your all videos❤💚❤
💚💚💚Awesome💚💚💚
Small boys- small toys, big boys-big toys. Have fun and enjoy
I was all smiles watching this video, once you worked that TA I knew it was coming home with you! That 856 is a sweet sounding and sweet looking machine, good for you Pete!
That's a pretty nice old survivor... Good plan to grab it. One can't help feeling a bit sad when looking at these old farms that are dwindling away. I grew up in rural Maine in the 50s and 60s, and all the farms that were in production are long gone. Many of them bulldozed and now sport parking lots for malls that are themselves now becoming obsolete. (The farms had a longer run than the malls it seems!)
Thanks for taking us along!
Omg, that is so sad. 😢
I can think of no other better hobby to be involved with. NICE buy!
Congratulations another in a series of love and respect of farming tractors.
Nice work Pete, it would be great to see all of your 56 series fully restored and painted one day. I know the 656 is a 'daily driver' but that would look so cool in your barn. Even better would be to see you, your Dad and Henry all out on the field together, each with his own 56! Looking forward to the restoration.
The c could said to be the same and it's been restored.
🤣🤣❤️
I agree that would be wonderful to see.🤣❤️
As a young teacher, needing extra income, I did a lot of work for a guy who was an IH Purest, nothing but red on his ranch. He would have loved these posts. A red tractor, a pack of Big Red gum and he was all set. That relationship turned out to be one of the more important in my life. I think about Harvey and Jean every time I see those tractors on JFW. Thanks
Congratulations on finding a honest good running 856 Pete!!!
Thats one of those tractors you get a good feeling about. That feller is selling you his right arm .
She sure is going to be beautiful after you get her all dolled up, Pete! 🚜 😁 It probably makes the seller extremely satisfied to know his baby is going to be well cared for & appreciated. 🤗
Pete, congratulations on your new tractor! I know how exciting it is for you because it’s your hobby and I look forward to seeing you using your new acquisition around the farm❤
I still have my Grandfathers 856 Custom. Still runs like new.
She's a sturdy girl. Looks like many years of friendship between it and the man you bought her from. Good stuff Pete, congrats!
Your restoration work on the tractors is just beautiful. It makes me feel good to know that some of these great pieces of farm equipment are being preserved for present and future generations. Thank you.
Looking forward to seeing it restored
Great addition! Can’t wait to see it in the upcoming videos.
I’m so happy for you Pete! We need some new videos of the F-20 doing some work!
Yippee KaiYay .. another cool ride for Pete to enjoy :) Surely the seller loved and enjoyed it very much .. kudos to him for letting go!
Congrats on your new baby Pete....as a boy who grew up on a farm in Zululand, South Africa, I identify with your passion and excitement for machines from your youth. Thanks also for sharing your farming journey with us....
I love your passion for old tractors Pete, not like a lot of people who only hanker for brand new and shiny stuff.☺️☺️
Looks like a winter project.
I agree I have the same passion as he has for farming with the older equipment yes you can go out and get brand new equipment what’s the fun in that because eventually that brand new equipment will have its failure point like all tractors so why not just have something that’s going to last longer in my opinion versus going to buy a brand new piece of equipment and in a year or two having to sink money into it
I think a lot of people nowadays don’t realize that tractor companies don’t make farm tractors user-friendly anymore
@@Ellenslife851 Yep
@@Ellenslife851 That tractor seemed to have real get up and go to it on the open road too🤣🤣
Awesome! Now i get to watch you rip into it this winter.
I hope both you and the seller have smiles this morning. A good deal is when both parties are happy with the transaction.
You got More trackters than animals on the farm
Its just great to see these Videos
I absolutely love my 856, came from your neck of the woods too!
Thanks for uploading and sharing you life with us, hope your family and you are well.
Pete has a nice way of negotiating. Instead of pointing out every defect in a 50 year old piece of equipment, he noted the good features while doing his critical assessments.
Still bought the tractor and now has a new friend.
Your winter project. Enjoy! 🤗
Congrats, Pete! I love seeing the success of the channel and you being able to reward yourself for your labor.
I think you DO need that tractor. Life is short. If it makes you happy go for it.
Can’t wait to see the 3 “56” series restorations! You do such a great job explaining how to do them. I love all your videos and the wisdom you share. Thanks for letting us into your families lives! Maybe start with the 856 and work down from there? :)
When you cut to the owner sitting on the tractor and he popped off that strong sounding engine...I was pretty sure it would be coming home. Congratulations on the purchase!
Golly Pete, when that 856 fired up, I was thinking you need to buy that beast haha.
I have a neighbor in my little fire department who is almost 70. Both his parents are alive (95 and 93). His father cut the first ever power line right of way up the Blue Ridge escarpment into our isolated Appalachian mountain county. A decade later power finally was run up to our even more isolated tiny community deep in the mountains in the late 1950s. Mentioning Mr. Millard's age reminded me of this.
That tractor definitely seems like a beast. Can't wait to see you tinker on it and put it to work. Great learning experience on tractor shopping as well 👍
The previous owner will be happy that you’ve brought this tractor especially after owning it for so long. Looking forward to watching your restoration videos.
I’m 40 now and I started driving a 300 Farmall when I was 7. Then a M Farmall, 1466 turbo, 1486 and 7130. Last large tractor farming was a JD 8400. Cut hay and baked with a 2294. Raked with a Ford 8N. Loaded hay with a 560 rice special. Rolled the 560 but was spared by the home made canopy but landed on old plexiglass from when it was used to feed hay in the rain. Found myself staring up at the rear tire rotating above my head. It bent the floor of the tractor in the rear. No 3 point on the 560. Had a PTO.
The McCormick Co. should fund you and farmers like you who restore and keep the Farmall machines working.
Congratulations on your new addition. I look forward to seeing more of her. What history these old tractors hold. Thanks, Pete, for keeping that history alive. ❤
Congratulations on the 856. My dad got my grandpa's 856 Wheatland after he passed. Plowed alot of ground with that tractor. You are correct on the nostalgia. There is something unique about growing up and learning to drive tractors that sticks with you.
Yes, indeed. I grew up on John Deeres and Kubotas on a small family dairy farm. I no longer live on the farm, but still live on a small rural plot. As such, I rebuilt an old Ford 8n a few years ago for the property. There’s just something pure and good about sitting on a tractor, doing work.
👍 way to go, big tractor.
Grew up helping the neighbor on his farm. He had Farmall's and IH's. 400 Farmall, 806 narrow front, then an 866(?), from that to a 1466 (which I loved to use!). He also got a 666(?) That we used for cultivating and baling. The 400 was still used to haul hay wagons to the barn. Good old days and fond memories!
“Hi! My name is Pete and I have a red tractor addiction!” At the local “TA” meeting!!! 😅 a bigger equipment barn may be necessary! 😂 I know what Pete’s doing this winter!!! 😆 LOVE IT!!!
Great new addition to the collection!! 🚜☀️👍🏻
I was hoping you would buy it! It really seems like a well taken care of tractor and looking forward to seeing videos about it new life thank you for great content.
What an AWESOME video, and a pleasure to meet the gentleman!!!!!!!
Now you going to have to add anothers stall to the pole barn............the red heard keeps growing!
It's awesome seeing you get to apply your knowledge about what did and did not come on these tractors and share it with us. It'll be fun to see what the 856 looks like with some attention and fresh paint.
I think you did your due diligence in all aspects and knowing what you do I'm sure it's going to work just fine for you. Good luck with it, I enjoyed watching, have a nice Sunday!
I knew you'd buy it, by that glint in your eyes. Looking forward to seeing you work it. Thanks, and have a great day.
Nothing there you couldn't fix, upgrade or repair. Always nice to have a new baby on the farm!
LOVED this video...loved seeing the beautiful countryside with the old farm houses and barns...that tractor is awesome too! Thanks for taking all of us with you...
There is no such thing as to many Tractors Pete. I think that is a nice addition to your collection. Keep bringing the videos coming.
I think you need more tractors. You take good care of them. This one is a beast
That smile on the face says it all... We all knew you'd buy it. Tractor prices for a lot of this era is on the up and these tractors have stood the test. Same over this side of the pond and people have found a lot of uses for so called older tractors
Congratulations Pete! Can’t wait to see working on the farm. That was a great purchase and well taken care of FH by the owner.
I can see you now behind the wheels of your newest acquisition. Congratulations. You know Pete, it doesn't feel like Sunday until I see your vlog. Keep up the Good work. God Bless you and the family.... Howdy from Shreveport Louisiana.
Enjoy Pete Enjoy. You had a great big smile during this video. Have a great day
Congrats Pete on your new addition to the collection. I was a collector of airplanes but these days I don't fly anymore and my collection consists of photos and memories. I think I could really enjoy getting into the tractor collecting but age has a way of slowing you down. So enjoy while you can. Thanks for sharing. From what I could see it was a pretty solid machine.
I enjoy all of your videos Pete. Can't wait for you to restore this one.
That tractor looked very straight and sounded nice .also its owner looked honest and reliable . You have a nice machine there .
Great Looking Custom 856! Can’t wait to see it when you get it painted.
I have a '71 856 with a year-a-round cab that we restored in 2009. It's got an m&w blower on it and my grandpa bought it one yeard old and it's never left the farm since. Great tractors
Thanks Pete,I really enjoyed your video. It was informative on what to look for when purchasing a vintage tractor and while I don’t share your passion of tractors I sure do appreciate the time and effort you put in to correctly restoring these iconic tractors that you use on your farm. Hope you have fun. Can’t wait to see this beauty working on your farm
I never had an international tractor before but after watching your videos I bought a 966. She's a project for sure got to rebuild pto & got some leaks. I love it way better than any other tractor I used/owned.
I come from a small town in Saskatchewan Canada. My parents were not farmers. My father worked in a Potash Mine and my mother was a stay at home mom. However I did work for local farmers growing up in the mid 1980's. I seamed to be the one helper that everyone wanted. I also have a love for old tractors and old cars. It is really satisfying getting to watch your channel. Brings back a lot of memories. Before I started helping farmers I always wanted to live on a farm. I live in the city now but working for farmers was the best of both worlds. Thank you for taking the time to share these videos.
When we went from 1500 acres to 300 we went looking for an 856. They were crazy priced found a good 1256 an never looked back. Congratulations on your new whip!
Really clean and well taken care of. Great find!
I love that tractor, Pete. As someone who collects older cars or tractors, your new 856 is exactly what you hope to find. It is pretty much original, not beat up, not worked or driven to death, had decent maintenance throughout its life, and not had a bunch of owners. I was excited as soon as you walked up to it. The best part for the seller is it couldn't be going to a better home.
❤🎉I'm excited for you. Mr. Pete. Looking forward to see it when you finish restoring it also. Blessings to you and Hillary and your farm animals and Family. ❤
Thank you, Pete! Happy you got a new addition!
Looks like it has been taken care of. Great find!
Yes love it Pete all you need know is a 1256 and 1456
I learned how to drive on one of those when I was quite a bit under 16, but we never had a cab or shade on ours. I had to stand up to drive it because I couldn't push the clutch or brake in if I was sitting down. A good hard-working tractor for good hard-working people. It did everything from planting and discing and plowing to mowing hay and pulling the hay wagon. When the ice got too thick on the pond to chop, we'd put a drill on the back of the tractor and use that to get water for our cattle.
I'm glad you bought this tractor. the man you bought it from seems like a good man who took care of his equipment.
That’s one of the best tractors ever made
I agree!
@@JustaFewAcresFarm I love that tractor we have one and it has been overhauled and pto has been rebuilt
Now I understand. I was wondering why you needed another tractor.
You’re a collector! Thank you for explaining that.
As I watched you looking at that tractor, I was thinking how great that would look if you freshened it up with paint, decals and a new seat!
The man you bought that from sure looked like a nice man. Since he had kept that tractor, I’ll bet it was important to him. It appears he took good care of it.
That looks like a great tractor I love those tractors dad had one I had many hours sitting on the seat and the fender riding with dad thank you for sharing
Pete..... Congrats on the Farmall 856 Tractor......! =)
Looks like a really nice, honest tractor! Congrats on the great find Pete! ...and BTW, I think you did a really good job containing your excitement on this new acquisition. Those of us that have gotten to know you a bit through your videos could see hints of the "kid in a candy store", wanting to bust out. Maybe an "Oh Yeah!" Mixed with a few fist pumps. lol
Congratulations Pete! Millard was as great a find as the tractor.
This tractor could not have found a better home. The sound of that engine takes me right back to my dad an our farm.
Thank you for sharing every detail.
I am 56 years old. My great granddaddy had a Farmall H and an A. As a teenager I drove both, mostly "for fun" and a little in or family garden. I love you video of the Super A. I remember well the 3 tricycle style and climbing on from the back at the left hand tire. My dad dad a year ago. I cried when I saw your farmalls. Thank you for taken such good card of these tractors
856 is a hard tractor to beat. Absolutely love it
Well now you have to build a new garage. There is now way that thing fits into your current shop. 😅
I would like to do that, and get into more restoration work as I get older.
@@JustaFewAcresFarm Sounds like a solid plan for your retirement! Maybe your children will take over.
We had a 856 since the spring of 1968. They are great workhorses but they also last as we never had any problems with it in all of those years. I drove that tractor since it was new back in 68 and I was only 14 years old. We used it to plow, dig, haul hay wagons and all types of work.
Great, looking forward to seeing the 856 on the farm.
Hi Pete, I'm really glad you bought this tractor, they ain't making anymore. I'm tellin' ya, I'm as excited as you are to see it in the field working and look forward to watching you work on it in your shop in the winter. Have a great week. Best wishes from England. 🇬🇧
Awesome buy, you won't be disappointed.
It was Thanks to your tractor videos over the last couple years we got the ambition to get my Dad's 856 Farmall running smooth again after sitting for a few years.
No time to make shinny, so she be staying in her work clothes for now but never had a diesel start as well in the Alberta winters.
Thanks again for all that you do!
I can't wait until you get the minor things repaired and the new coat of paint on the old girl Pete. Looks like you found a good solid tractor. Congratulations.
What a great find. Pristine and bigger farm bigger Tractor. All gussied up and ready to be loosed out on the fields. Farming could not be better.
