      Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting! Glad you like your new car. It is quite an impressive package for the money.

      Thank you very much for watching and commenting, it's a very different car from the previous MG3, but the market has very much moved on in the last 11 years!

  • @scottishcarenthusiastsandtrain

    The front end kind of reminds me of the Toyota Yaris, i like the look of this and the interior really looks a nice place to be, an excellent review as always sir.

      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 15 dny

      Yes, probably a little bit like a Yaris in terms of the design. I am glad that you enjoyed this, Mr Watters!

    I got my MG3 HYBRID Trophy at the beginning of May, and as i always say, given the spec its thousands less than the competition.
    For me the stand out feature is the semi autonomous functionality, which provides both steer assist and adaptive cruise control, and whilst these features are perhaps not quite as smooth and sophisticated as on my other car - a Genesis Electrified G80, still fundamentally takes a lot of the effort out of driving, and the auto steer will tackle sharper bends than my Genesis. I dont know why more people seemingly either dont understand how to activate these features, or bother to use them. On at least the congested roads around town where i mainly use the car, they make driving so much less stressful.
    Overall i remain very pleased with the car, which is proving a lot more economical than the car it replaced- a 2018 3door DS3 Auto 1.2.
    However MG UK need to get their act together, as they know virtually nothing about the product, and more seriously, having suffered a puncture over the last few days, which fortunately was repairable, i discovered the Khmho tyres fitted to the car from the factory are currently only available in the far East and Australia!!!!!

      Modern Volkswagens have a similar semi-autonomous driving system, which they call "Travelling Assist", which I did try. I did mention some of the prices of similar cars and where it sits in the market towards the end of the video. I would need to actually try the Clio and the Swift in particular to be able to make my mind up entirely about one of these (I really didn't get long with it), but there absolutely no doubt that it is a very well specified car for the money, which feels at least a decade newer than the car it replaces.

    Also, the rear does look nice, very like our HS. We followed a black MG3 Hybrid on the MG100 Cavalcade and definitely liked the rear view

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 16 dny

      I personally think that the rear styling is more successful than the front. Seems to be an opinion shared with a number of others too!

  • @felipebaym
    @felipebaym Před 17 dny +1

    The adaptive cruise control is camera based or the car has a front radar hidden somewhere??

  • @MrSensible2
    @MrSensible2 Před 16 dny +1

    Something that might worry me with a car like this is driving up long steep hills, like you might get in the Peak District. If I've understood things correctly, you can get away with a three speed, fluid coupling auto box because the battery essentially takes over the job of first & second gear. But what happens in a very hilly environment is you will quickly drain the 1.8 kWh battery & then what? Presumably the designers checked this out at some stage but who knows??

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 16 dny +3

      Being very familiar with the Peak District, I think that it would be fine. We actually went up a very steep hill during the test drive, and there was no problem. I imagine that, as the engine sort of acts like a generator, there would always be that assistance available anyway.

  • @mattw8332
    @mattw8332 Před 17 dny

    Very informative. I agree about the stitching on the dashboard. Orange looks nice but red stitching would stand out. A little bit of cost cutting going on with those steering column stalks and the one piece rear seat. Glad that this model has been replaced. The front end styling is OK - at least the grille isn't as obvious as the current BMWs.
    I think I still prefer the Dacia Sandero despite it's lack of a hybrid system.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 17 dny +1

      There should be a normal petrol one coming soon with a manual gearbox. That will be a closer competitor to the Dacia Sandero, which is an excellent car. Thank you for watching, sir!

    mg cheap as chips compared to a lot of other brands at least it has a decent warranty. My neighbours mg zs is 5 years old and so far hasnt had any problems except for a damaged suspension strut he wasnt sure if it was his fault after hitting potholes or a warranty issue. mg fixed it under warranty so he was happy.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 16 dny

      Yes, cheapest full hybrid on the market, and with a very long warranty too. Getting that suspension strut changed under warranty sounds like quite a turnout for the books for your neighbour.

  • @mrtalmos
    @mrtalmos Před 16 dny

    Glad you agree with my initial thought on new MG3, wide front grill makes front look odd, centre console tray is very flimsy, boot is smaller with seat down, 1272 litres for previous is down to 983, but car us longer!
    I won't be changing my 2016 MG3 for this, should I have to buy a new car

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 16 dny

      I need to get one for a little longer to be sure about the way that it drives, but it is completely different in feel to the old MG3. Whether that is good or bad is a matter of personal preference, and this will probably sell very well, and appeal to a lot of people, but it's not a direct replacement for the old car. Perhaps the cheaper non-hybrid manual car will feel a bit different?

    That drivers seat looked very worn on the side already. I had a test drive of the MG 3 hybrid a few weeks ago and thought it was very good until i drove the clio hybrid last weekend and it is by far the better car but quite a bit more expensive. And my last 3 cars have been MGs

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 17 dny

      I would definitely like to try the Clio and the Swift as a point of comparison, as well as have a bit more time in one of these. I think the Renault comes with a five year warranty as well.

    • @adriansteadman3413
      @adriansteadman3413 Před 17 dny

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting I thought the Renault comes with a 3 year warranty. I would still worry about Renault quality. It felt good quality but even on the demo one of the wing mirrors didn't fold out when unlocked.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 16 dny

      I will have to check, but I think it is a five year warranty for Renault. That's a shame about the malfunctioning mirror.

    Obviously a much improved car but I just cannot get used to the styling, just doesn’t do it for me looks far too generic. Tbh it could be a Hyundai. I’ll stick with my pre facelift MG3!

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 16 dny

      It's clearly a more advanced, better equipped more modern car, and it is faster and excellent value, but as a former previous model MG3 owner myself, it is going to take me a while to get used to the new styling, I think.

  • @roygardiner2229
    @roygardiner2229 Před 17 dny

    That would not be for me. The nouns "Leatherette", "plastic" and "touch screen" seems to sum up the whole design. Having to improvise some form of interior lighting speaks volumes. Sorry.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 16 dny

      Quite a few people who used to own the previous MG3 (which includes me), may take a while to get used to the new styling, I think.

  • @davidrumming4734

    In addition to the all in one rear seat…..
    Think I spotted a dial control to manually adjust the headlamp height.
    No reach adjustment for the steering wheel!
    …my problem is, my car is 5y old and it doesn’t have these oversights but moreover, 5y ago you got more car for your money or rather in 2024 you get less car for the same money…aka latest Toyota Aygo fully loaded.
    Ideally I would go for the Toyota Corolla or CHR fully hybrids….and on the latest you can manually switch to battery only drive.
    Did you say 3 speed automatic? 😮 is that the same 3 speed automatic the original Chinese MG petrols came with many years ago?
    Now we know why it’s cheaper.
    The working conditions in China may also have something todo with that.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 16 dny

      I need to try the Suzuki Swift and Renault Clio, which are the closest directly comparable cars to the MG3, to see how this fits in, as well as get hold of one of these for a bit longer, but as much as Stephen loves his new car, I just wish the interior was a bit lighter and the driving experience was a bit more involving.

  • @stephenwestley1017
    @stephenwestley1017 Před 16 dny

    Give me a gear lever and a proper handbrake cant be doing with dials and electric handbrake. I'll cross it off t list of possible next car 😂

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting

      I am hoping that the rumoured petrol non-hybrid model will come with a manual gearbox and a normal handbrake.
