    Crazy to think Jonah never truly fulfilled his potential due to his kidney condition yet he still managed to dominate games. The thought of a healthy Jonah in late 20s would have been genuinely terrifying

    • @sheldoncooper0
      @sheldoncooper0 Před rokem +1

      Yep there’s a reason why he was Able to dominate games. That’s the beauty of kidneys, they are able to compensate so well, that you won’t experience any symptoms of kidney disease until you’ve lost at least 90% of your kidney function… That’s why Jonah lived a pretty normal life until after the 2002 wales game when it finally reached the critical threshold where it failed for good.

  • @ejsmith9194
    @ejsmith9194 Před 2 lety +19

    Crazy how people think Nonu didn't have a distribution game back in his early days.. he was never greedy and had a good/decent pass when it was needed. He was just used more for his bulldozing power runs and agility rather than his passing which he still had.

    • @wwiillll
      @wwiillll Před 2 lety +2

      When people say he didn't have a distribution game they don't mean that he didn't know how to pass mate. That would be absurd. What people mean is that he was certainly not an elite passer. A nine year old should be able to run and pass with a bit of training. Nonu grew his game and became an elite passer, rather than a ... passable passer 😂

    • @ejsmith9194
      @ejsmith9194 Před 2 lety +3

      @@wwiillll thats what i meant. Obviously anybody playing at that level knows basic passing. But people like compare Nonu on his early days with Laumape in the category of not being strong passers, my meaning was it wasn't a weakness of his, as it was decent to good and became great as he got older and developed the best long passing game i've ever seen from a centre.

    • @jonnybaynham1689
      @jonnybaynham1689 Před 8 měsíci

      What he did was take the skills of a second five eighth in terms of setting up plays. His long passing, miss passes etc. became superb and his kicking was also great

      1. The "Bunnings NPC" which has no All Blacks and is effectively just a tournament for development players
      2. Super Rugby, where half the fixtures are predictable drubbings against trash Australian sides
      Neither of these competitions provide the quality that the full-strength, NZ-only NPC used to.
