    I believe without a cam signal, the ecm will default to bank fireing the injectors. in this case of a 4 cylinder, it will fire all injectors at same time going of the crank signal. When the cam sensor signal reports to ecm, the injectors will fire sequentially!

    My Skoda Octavia was doing this over quite a period of time. Difficult starting, unexpectedly cutting out, rough idling. It wasn’t until I bought a scanner that I knew what was wrong. I didn’t even know what a cam shaft sensor was ( my daily driver once was a 1965 Morris Minor and sensors were something on Star Trek) Got it booked in to have a new one fitted.

    It only continues to run when you disconnect it in much older cars. Anything from 2010 will not run if you disconnect the camshaft position sensor or if it's Just even a little dirty or broken.

    Hi there. Nice videos! I have a Chevy Aveo 2009 with a problem at the camshaft sensor, witch is a 3 PIN sensor (hall effect). I measured the harness side with a test light and it has one ground wire and the remaining two wires are both HOT at all time (with the key in the ON position of course). It shouldn't be like this. I know that only one wire should be HOT (5 volts or 12 volts) and the remaining one should be the signal wire, witch is HOT only when the connector is plunged into the sensor and the engine is running. It could be a short between the signal wire and the positive one (permanent)?

    Most cars can run wit just the crank sensor, thats why it didnt shut off when the plug was pulled. If you were to put the engine under load with the plug off, you'd probably notice a pretty big powerloss.

    My malibu has the chk engine light and the po341 error. It seems like the car is running but does not seem to have the power it did. So what can be done but change the sensor and I already have the parts.

  • @nomadnevermadbetelgeuse9803

    I feel that because of the lack synchronicity of the sensor, something along the camshaft warps causing some failure of the sort.
    My 97 Jeep Wrangler would shut off randomly, like coasting at 60 mph on the parkway it would shut off, going into to town on that long road at 35 mph it would shut off, idling texting in a parking lot before hitting the road.
    After two weeks of researching the interweb for probable suspects and my mechanic saying "Oh yeah! It definitely is the camshaft sensor", i let him to replace it. Fixed it!... One week to date no problem. However, that rattling/scraping/ je ne sai pas sound has been getting worst all along. Cruising at 25 mph and pressing the gas to maintain speed is embarrassing. I need to press heavy enough on the gas to get pass the rpm range of yelling "My jeep is fucked up, as you can tell!" and just below "Im revving like this because I'm a fucking dick, YOLO!" to not hear that hear that F N noise. I'm'a check the camshaft sensor tension mechanism and keep you posted. If i remember.

    I just had a problem with the camshaft positioning sensor 7-25-17 DO NOT drive your car/Truck if you have a Problem with it get it fixed. if you do drive you may go 10 15 or even more miles .. but your engine will cut off... sooner or Later if it happens shut of your ignition wait 20minutes before you start your car again. signs 1. The engine feels like it doesn't have any fuel and makes a sort of slurping sound when you hit the gas pedal 2.the Check Engine light comes on. PS the Check Engine light will turn off after waiting 20minutes. but will come back on once it happens again, and it will!!. 2002 Ford E550 superduty

    My Suzuki XL7 was hard to start, ran fine while cold, but if the RPMs dropped below 2000 it stalled and was very hard to start; burned up the starter eventually. Got a new crankshaft position sensor, that helped, but the starter I bought from Advance Auto (Carquest) stayed running after the key returned to the "run" position. Do not buy a sensor. If you have a bad one then your engine is about to die. Kia vehicle engines are known to only last 78,000 miles. This I'm told from a Kia represenative.

    • @lexusvip4003
      @lexusvip4003 Před 6 lety +12

      Darren P that's the most ridicoulous thing I've ever heard. I'm an ASE certified mechanic of over 6 years and what that man has told you is complete garbage information and he is trying to get you to spend more money. Period. Give me any KIA and I can make it last well over 200,000 9/10 times. It's all about maintaince. Look in your manual. I guarantee it will not say anything about the motor lasting less than 100,000 miles. That would be the last car on earth i ever bought. 😂 Your manual WILL talk about replacing filters, *sensors*, and oil regularly to maintain the life of the vehicle. I hope I'm not coming off as rude, but that man clearly doesn't know what he is talking about. (Or he does and he is purposefully lying to you)

    • @D______
      @D______ Před 6 lety +1

      Well this is a long drawn out ordeal that would take pages to exaplian but if you look into the Kia service campaign sc147 that is the issue. Metal filings were left in the engine which in turns causes all hell to break loose in your engine ultimately ending in a seized up engine on the highway. Millions of cars already recalled. 2.4L theta 2 engines specifically. Hyundai as well as they are the parent of Kia. Anyway through a lot of hard work and determination I've made it past the BS and lies Kia has been telling me for months and I'm getting a new engine installed at no cost. Car failed in Feb and I'm looking at not getting the new engine to the dealer until at least the end of July. That's how backlogged Kia is in replacing these engines. Now I'm fighting with Kia over the fact my car should be part of the recall. Same year, same model, same engine with only one difference, the fuel delivery system. Cars in sc147 are GDI and mine is MPI and not in the recall. Found info from Kia corporate to the dealers that specifically says do not replace the fuel delivery system as nothing is wrong with it and keep it with the new engine. That being said I've nail there rears to the wall saying my engine isn't covered because it's MPI and not GDI. Bet you'll see Kia come out with additional cars in the recall before long. Got the states attorney for IL involved in this. I'm laying the smack down on these lying toads even though I already got what I wanted I'm pissed at them for constantly lying to me. They didn't pull one over on me. So any to the point about the sensor. Due to the metal filings they clog up the oil passages which lead to the crankshaft sensors and that's how it all started for me. Went downhill from there and engine siezed on the highway and Kia denied any responsibility and it's been my mission since to inform people and get a bunch of cars people have had engine failures on and Kia hasn't covered them to cover them. Oh and service tech took off the valve cover and said there was NO indication of maintenance issues or any owner actions or lack of actions causing the engine failure. So yes, that is Kia outright lying and it didn't stop there, just kept continuing and is still going on to this day.
