Canceled. Fuck the mint. Not worth it at $91 a coin have been buying the modern silver eagles since the reverse change and figured is keep it going. Now I'm done. No way I'm paying $91 for something that sells for $50 on eBay

I’m certainly going to watch eBay and some other places to see. I’m going to close out my subscriptions. I’m not supporting this when they pull this with no warning.
I sold all but 2 of my Eagles! Didn't get as much as I expected. Probably never buying another Eagle again.
@@slekzieds I think those buying these pieces this year will take a loss on these as they will sell below the mint's price but will even out next year as inflation takes a toll further or price upward movement comes for these pieces. If they decide to mint less then you missed out on a key date but I'm collecting these personally.

Well, I just canceled my subscriptions of the uncirculated and the proof Morgan and Peace Dollars.
The only thing I'm keeping is the reverse proof set.

I stopped ordering from them years ago. Every time there was a limited Mintage coming up for sale I would be on their web site ahead of time and never get the order, always sold out right away, and the next thing you know online dealers would have them for sale and marked way up.

With this price increase - the Mint may be planning to raise its quality control standards and its degree of innovative product design.
Oh my God..the price of silver increased by a measly 10 percent and how does that justify a 20 percent increase in price..They lost my business for good.

I really like buying coins from the US Mint but the prices they charge are getting out of hand I'm afraid.

The entire so called government is a network of private corporations, all of them listed on Dun and Bradstreet. They simply take names that sounds like government institutions. This includes the IRS. All of them. It is easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled.

I stopped buying from the mint years ago.
I started buying silver proof sets in 2016 and stopped in 2020 with the big price jump. My last set approx $68 with shipping. Currently there $130 plus shipping! Not worth it in my opinion.

I noticed the price of the modern unc morgans & peace dollars have slumped. I cancelled all my subscriptions with the USMINT this year I thinking it will be much cheaper to pick them up on eBay in a year from now. Let someone else take the loss! 😅 lord knows there’s enough of em out there!

They'll probably phase out the subscriptions as the demand for silver increases. Essentially straining their ability to keep up with demand and planchets. They've reported a shortage of planchets recently. Not surprising.
As silver manufacturing demand increases, silver premiums will raise. However, the spot price will remain low. It's not good for silver stackers. For collectors though, it will increase the value of the coins made. My prediction anyway.

We get exactly the same in the UK - hugely inflated prices, sudden price increases not related to costs and series cancelled with no notice……… all with free milk spots 😞

I just unsubscribed to all the US Mint crap. It’s highly overpriced. At the point of sell it will be hard to get $32/ per coin. At 275,000 mintage it’s never going to be rare. Thanks for the heads up Sal !!

I already canceled. Tough to wanna pay those prices. Honestly at $91 I can get a graded common date Morgan that is a real Morgan. Think I’d rather have a MS 63 or 64 1880 S than this year’s.
I’m Morgan collector and am only 3 away from a date/mint mark set. I’ve considered the modern part of the collection but man…. I’m letting this first set go. Maybe I’ll find it cheaper on the secondary market when the people that bought it figure out they can’t sell it

I thought the US mint was told to cut back the minting of silver egels by the Treasury despite the demand.
It just pays to look elsewhere, have notice sunshine mint has raised pricing across the board.

I never bought from the US Mint. Yes, I have bullion Eagles in tubes, but those are just bullion I bought from dealers and not these high-premium collectable coins. For the same money, I can buy an "ice cream cone" for my personal collection that's alot more fun, Like a cheerleader coin, a soccer gal coin or a colorized Harley Quinn coin. If you're gonna spend damn near $100 on a single coin, which I don't recommend, then buy something that's alot more fun to hold in your hand.
I previously spend about $40 on a NSFW silver round with a depiction of a girl holding shopping bags and a guilty smirk on her face. The round reads "Keep me and go broke!". I bought that to remind myself not to always blow my money on high-premium low-return items like low mintage coins. Once in a while is fun, but not regularly. Take it from someone with a spending addiction.
How many people are going to complain about the fact they cost 91.00 and at the same time those same people will turn around and pay hundreds of dollars on eBay for them
Profits don't go to the General Fund. Once the cost is recouped the surcharges are distributed to organizations with an expressed purpose. So the Visitor's center built on the US Capital East Plaza was constructed through these funds as an example. They are definitely not used to pay down debt.
I no longer buy expensive coins unless they are for my personal collection and i am not selling them.

I emailed customer support about this ridiculous pricing increase and here is their response:

We apologize for any inconvenience the price increase may cause you. As a result of increasing costs, the US Mint silver prices will increase as of July 9, 2024 (except for commemorative coins). The spot price for silver has increased more than 45% since October 1, 2023, other costs, labor and materials are increasing at similar rates to overall inflation. Regrettably, there is no end in sight to these increases - futures markets and inflation both show continued cost increases.
We are in receipt of your correspondence and apologize for any inconvenience experienced.
Please be advised that your complaint has been forwarded on to upper management for your voice to be heard. We value the opinions of our customers and want to ensure that each customer receives the best experience possible with the United States Mint.
UK does the same.
Worse when a coin gets shipped to Europe you can add taxes at both ends plus high post charges.
This means economic sense is to avoid the coins at present.

I'm glad I reduced all my Morgan and Peace subscriptions to 1 each last year. Its kind of a shock that they are raising the prices for those who subscribed long ago. I could understand making them 91 dollars for those who did not subscribe. I could only imagine that the Proofs will be 95 and I bet the reverse proof set will be 200+ dollars. I see this as a good thing as it might end up reducing the mintage and therefore justifying the values. I'm still in even if I take an L this year on all these numismatic pieces.

It will never be allowed to rise that high, you would think it would be obvious by now. The bankers rig the price, and it won't rise any meaningful amount until it is illegal for us to own.

Maybe so... but when you have the choice between $31/ ounce and $91 for less than 1 ounce... it is just stupid to do the high price stuff.
If anyone owns something like precious metals and inflation is driving the cost/worth of what you own up then inflation is actually working in your favor by making what you own worth a lot more overtime especially if anyone owns a WHOLE lot already inflation is doing them a huge favor in this sense.

I wonder if sellers on EBAY will raise their prices ..I bought a bunch of silver mint sets a few years ago for 105 each..I thought that was expensive. 2023 Morgan and Peace dollars wound up being a good deal if sellers raise their prices too.

Agree with a few comments as a individual buying just a few coins they cater to the businesses buying 10,000 so it’s all about greed. There should be a lottery. The silver dollars are .7734 of an ounce of silver. The whole coin is about .86 of an ounce.
The old ones were. These are 999 fine. So .858 oz.
Not the 2021 and 2023 Morgan and Peace.

I canceled my peace and morgan subscriptions 2 weeks ago after deciding $76 was way too high for them. Took that money set aside and bought ASE's from SDbullion, good move silver went up and U.S. Mints price went up. It's called the cutback fakeback move on the Mint I cut back and faked them back.
Contacted Mint told them you get nothing from me.
