    I used to buy silver on ebay and I did OK until a 10 oz bar arrived through the post. It had a snake design and looked impressive. It quickly dawned on me that it looked bigger than my other 10 oz bars. Which is when I became concerned. I weighed it and it was significantly light, measured the dimensions again, did a neodymium magnet test and was convinced it was fake. I challenged the seller who refused a return then I threatened him with legal action and he quickly changed his mind. Fake silver can sometimes be spotted on ebay before you even buy it. I wouldn’t buy from ebay now as the prices is high as are the opportunities for fakes.

      So many fakes/deception on ebay from China especially, they even have the audacity to fake security marks! Fakes prices are sometimes as high as 3/4 the price of the real thing which is greedy!

      Seems like always there are always predators lurking around this supposeidly safe place from eep our stacks safe and sound. I am a canadian living in BC and got ripped off by SGB/Silver Gold Bullian on a a 10 ounce bar. I was making shot and noticed the color was off so I called them at the head office in Calgary Alberta. They said I had changed the physical apperance of the bar and won't go good for it.
      I Had every grain of it to return and yet refused to honor their agreement that was well advertised. I have never been so agrivated by such calus treatment in this gig as I was back then. Perhaps this will serve them right about how to treat the little folks.
      If any of you are out there that know about this crass treatment give them a call/email or anywhere to call about this let them know about how you/have to think about how I was treated Over the last 10 years I have never/ever gone rouge on one of my sales.
      In Fact on the first time I ever had a sale for my Tiny Tiger heads go missing from one of my parcels was one to the states that the US Post admited to losing the package. I saw it on a post from the one fella that made the buy and It was for some of those Tiny Tigers I make so I sent him more than what I had known I made the first time. Doing that made me feel just great. The buyer was blown away by my kindness. It didn't cost a lot as I get my pouring stock a hair over spot I made him feel good about our community and made me feel really good in the process. A win, win across the board any way you look at it. Ihad just had my R leg taken off due to a previous injury while logging. The whole community got together and did a great auction for me that raised a $25,000.00 happening so as long as my days see me still breathing I will help anyone any time I know they need a hand with anyone needing it. Our community has great people in it that really care. Unlike the dealer that lies through their teeth, , , SGB is the one that has now bought out the mas majority of the silver and gold dealers and smaller mints in N America. That's it for this old stacker. I always end up wrighting a novel, LOL. Take care and happy stacking my friend. . . . . . Dean......

    Problem with bars and why they aren’t great to invest in is because they aren’t coins… they do not have Reeded edges or security features unless in assay card still. They just put doubt into the transaction.
    This is something I do not want to run into. I get why people like them but they aren’t for me personally.

      This is not an issue selling to a reputable buyer with a Sigma analyzer. 1oz coins are 1000x more faked than 100oz silver bars.

    • @jetster785
      @jetster785 Před 6 dny

      Yea coins are more flexible liquid and have far better designs than bars which is why coins have higher premiums.i have a mix of both probably 1/3 in bars.

    I would think it's impossible to put lead in the centre of a silver bar , lead melts at 327c , silver at about 960c, lf i try to pour something that has to be 960c to be molten around something that melts at 327c the lead would melt instantly and alloy with the silver, it could'nt possibly stay solid.

    I have all the bolt cutters from 4 feet to 8 inch to cut up my pieces that don't pour as they should or 10 and kilo bars when needed. I really want a verifyer. 99.9% of my pours are from 9999 shot so the first thing I do when getting a 50 ounce order of shot is make a 1 ozt bar and do a specific gravity test.I would die if I found out I had ripped someone off for one of my pours. Good post old friend. Perhaps you can show folks all the different ways to check their silver as I can no longer make videos. Have a great weekend fella !

    One thing I found fascinating when I sold some a lot of silver to a coin shop, US silver eagles, was they didn't even open the tubes. I had some loose and the rest were in tubes of 20, sealed but still. They were definitely real but it surprised me.

    They haven't tools (sigma metal analyzer) to check, because tools price is expensive, and they usually focus to distribute fiat money and making profit from it.

      @@BackyardBullion you can get shot from Cookson gold, from what I can see its bearly over spot. Depending how much your paying for the bars it might be worth working out the difference in premiums plus it saves alot of work cutting up bars and remember you can lose small bits of silver from cutting

    • @BackyardBullion
      @BackyardBullion  Před 5 dny +1

      You have to add VAT to that price from Cookson Gold my friend. 20% more on top. Not a good deal. I buy bars at 5% over spot or even spot price from second hand sellers. Way cheaper.
