THIS is what any potential gambler must see, Jordan!
      Well done!
I took an odds, probability and gambling course in school. I aced it. But, that is not I'm commenting. I am commenting to praise this video and also to warn about the sneaky-Pete dangers of allowing casinos to lure anyone into their various pitfalls and traps. I also tell people that they should never card count, that they should get really good at craps and poker, and ... that it's not for nothing that the slot machines are placed cannily where they are. THEY are where the suckers first sit and where the casinos make much of their dough.

    • @SuiGenerisAbbie
      @SuiGenerisAbbie Před 2 lety +1

I just watched this video to its end, and ... your list is BRILLIANT, Jordan! Casinos are ever so carefully crafted to dupe, and lull anyone into complacency, aren't they?
Jordan, I really would not be shocked if (the next time you went into a casino, anywhere) you are stopped and questioned about this video. Not stating that you will be, but ... I'll bet someone associated with some venue, has seen this video at least once, by now. You might be questioned. Just saying.
Question for you, please: Did you figure out this list all on your own? If so, you are quite perceptive indeed, and even if you did not figure it out on your own, I still am quite thankful for having viewed this content at all.
Again, this is MUST SEE viewing for anyone considering venturing into any casino!
The house always wins, in the end. ALWAYS. PERIOD. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Here’s my complete gambling history- not in Vegas but in Central City, Colorado. Walked into the casino, joined the free Players Club, which entitled me to a free pull on a slot machine. I won $10. I then proceeded to the restaurant, where my Players Club card entitled me to a prime rib dinner for $8.95. Ate my dinner and left.

Great information! The only thing I would disagree with is not betting the maximum on slot machines. The payout on a winning hit is multiplied much more than a single credit hit. Mathematically, in order to get the highest return, you need to bet the maximum number of credits. Also, higher denomination machines are set to a much higher payback percentage than low denomination machines. Penny machines are the biggest money maker in any casino. That being said, gambling should always be seen as an expectation of loss. Never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

Along with rip-off Casinos, there comes other rip offs as well. Some twenty years ago, I bought $5 ice cream with $50 bill at an ice cream shop inside a downtown casino and the bill went into cash register so very fast.., and when I asked for $45 change, I was told it's $5 bill. On the strip, I bought a $3 regular size apple with a $20 bill, and once again, I was told it's a $5 bill, and received a $2 change. On the downtown taxi ride, the driver refused to return the $15 change.

FYI, the video machines that are linked to celebrities, game shows, (ones like wheel of fortune), etc also get a 25% cut of your money right off the top before the casino gets there cut and then taxes! You get less than half of any jackpot you hit. That guy that just won the $1.2 million jackpot recently was a friend of Dana White's and he called the guy live on a podcast Dana was on and he broke down how much they each took of the jackpot and he said he walked away with just under $600K! Still a lot yes but when you think you've just become a millionaire and then everyone comes in with their hand out it kinda sucks! Great video, you definitely were right about all their tactics!

For example, the Wheel of Fortune games, about 20 or so spots on the wheel but far, far lower than 1/20 odds of hitting the "1000". As mentioned, the chip decides what you've won when you first bet--but then the fake sounds as the 1000 comes up... and you land just past it on 35...

The only one that is a myth is the "pumping of oxygen" in casinos. The pumping of scents is very true, but it's illegal to actually pump oxygen into a building. It's a huge fire hazard, if they did and someone lights up a cigarette it would cause an explosion. You would hear of a lot of casino fires if true.
one other item I would add, slots now pay out odd amounts, like bet $3 and win 66 cents, vs winning even amounts. That way it's much more likely you'll end up with some odd amount like $1.89 left when you are running out of money and put in more money, where as before you could just bet off the $1 remaining in the machine and run.

Basically what you are saying is true, and it is really not news (at least not to me)... HOWEVER!!! WHY are you using the word "SCAM" and "DIRTY" tricks (tricks is okay)... Look up the definition of a scam, I think that you are being a little harsh. Casinos are in the exact same business like any other business (to make money). If you look at your video, I think you can see that they are smart, not scammers or dirty/dishonest; tricky, smart maybe, but not scammers (or am I missing something???)

1:00 This is very clever on the way the mind works, if you are presented with a 90* angle on a path, you decide if its worth staying on the path you are on, or which way to go. This will make a lot of people to leave the casino, which doesnt help the casino. Therefore, you will never see a 90* intersection in a casino

The change thing really irked me the last time I was in Las Vegas. Venetian and Caesars related casinos did give back the full amount, including the few cents in change. It was the MGM properties that did not give back change. That upset me, because I do a lot of gambling at their group of casinos in the Tropicana/Strip area.

Alway watch how many credits you have left. I always use up all my credits, even if it means less than full prize payouts. There is no reason to give money for nothing to the cadinos.

I use to work in casinos in Reno in the mid 80s and I know what
Casinos do. The problem is, no matter what someone says about Gambling, not Gaming, very few people listen, unfortunately Gambling is an intoxicant, just like any other drug. Alcoholics and or addicts cannot drink, gamble or whatever and that’s why Vegas has a lot of homeless. Good Luck..

You didn’t mention “shields” were the casinos pay someone to sit in front of a machine that they know is going to hit the jackpot but the player doesn’t get the pay out. But does get an agreed amount for their service.

Happy to see your Vegas videos once again. A good comprehensive list of gambling "scams" or tricks. One correction: 88 credits at a 10 cent machine is $8.80, not $88 as you stated (I'm sure you caught this one already. I would add the attempt at newer casinos (like Resorts World) to part you from your money is the cashless system they're using. I will not fall for this one. Great job as always!

Extra oxygen pumped into the casino is complete Bullsh*t. Logic should tell you that oxygen accelerates fires. Las Vegas has a bad history with the MGM fire in the 80"s where dozens died. So no way are they going to add to endanger customers with oxygen added to a casino.

#19 I'm the guy that goes around looking for that money left in a machine. While In Vegas in 2019, I grabbed 47 tickets that added up to a grand total of $16. Gave that money to my wife and she flipped it to $80 in another slot machine. I've been doing for years, but it wasn't until 2021 when I found out that taking tickets that were left behind could be illegal. So, did I stop? Nope.
I'm just more careful now. I'll actually sit down, put my ticket in, cash out, and go to the next machine.

I go to Vegas to stay at resorts off strip and lounge by the pool and go to shows or things like the aquarium or the beautiful Wynn buffet and other attractions. We went up in the high roller last time, views were insane. We haven't been since before the pandemic and are about to go this summer to stay at tahiti village, I'm seriously looking forward to the vegas show girl mermaid at the man made beach they have there, and lounging around in inner tubes at the lazy river. My kids don't really remember it from last time, they were only 2 & 4 so I'm also looking forward to them seeing Tournament of Kings for the "first" time lol Skip the gambling, there's more fun to be had

That’s disgusting and money grubbing greed. .. i went twice in ‘90 with a gal had a great time made a little money., but Vegas isn’t for me anymore…
