  • During this episode in the XJ build series I am going to install the OzCoolingParts Full Aluminum Radiator with the Triple Electric Fans. This is going to be a huge upgrade for my Cherokee. Installing this radiator was way more difficult then I thought it was going to be. Hopefully what I learned in this video will help others installing this same radiator.

I like your attention to detail really looks like your doing it right. 👍 I did about the same thing and ended up installing 5 electric fans and aluminum radiator on my XJ and a higher amp alternator with some variable speed fan controllers that I really like. One controller for the two fans in the front and one for the three fans in the rear. Also picked up two three way switches, auto, off and full on. It all works great but it still gets hot in the NM summer heat.

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment! That’s cool though. I’ve never seen a 5 fan setup. Sounds like it works good. I hoping mine works good this next summer. Its hard to keep XJ cool here in Utah too 😂

Go for deionised water , distilled water still has elements that can react with the Aluminium in your new rad.

Seems like there’s a ton of controversy about using distilled water or DI water. Do you know of any good forum posts or CZcams videos about the differences?

It was on my Jeep when I got it. I used to have a matching valve cover too. But anyways, I think I’ve seen them on the Quadratec website.

So the cooling capacity is sufficient? Did you ever install the fans? Found video link from amazon review. Thank you. Looks simple.

Yeah the cooling capacity is definitely sufficient. I got the electric fans installed too and they work good. I outlined the install in the video if your curious about the wiring of the fans. One thing to consider is the placement of the temp sensor for the E. Fans. I mounted mine in the Radiator and the problem is my sensor turns on to late. Once the radiator is at temp (180* F) the engine is too hot. ( above 230* F) So I've been just using my bypass switch to have the fans on all the time. My plan is to try a lower temp sensor to see how that works. (165* on switch) There are also temp sensor mounts you can install in a radiator hose that I've been considering as well. Hope that helps!

I installed them and used an adjustable temp switch to a relay module. I was not able to use both of the factory transmission lines.

How is that radiator holding up?, any leaks ?. One more thing, which radiator did you get?, 1, 3 or 4 row radiator?.

The radiator has been great, and no leaks yet. It’s a 1 row radiator. But for the price I was willing to try it out. I’m not super impressed with the triple electric fans that it came with. They create a ton of vibration in the Jeep. I put a link in the video description to the exact radiator fan set I bought on Amazon.

Cool, white looks good on a XJ. I have a 4.5” long arm lift. The lift and fenders are from Rusty’s Off-road. I’m planning a full walk around video for my XJ in the next couple weeks. So keep an eye out for that video.
