We've been getting reports of slow response times at UMPI--up to 6 weeks. And lots of students aren't getting emails back or essays graded. And we wanted to let you guys know what's going on!
We have received a correction from UMPI on something we stated near the end of the video:
"We ask that our faculty provide feedback within 72-hours. If faculty have exceeded that time, students should reach out to the Academic Success Coach - who is the liaison between students and faculty. The Coach will contact the faculty member to find out what happened so that students receive communications soon thereafter."

To be expected. It’s an extremely small school with hundreds enrolling. They need to put a cap on students enrolling until they get more staff.

Yes, I think UMPI is a great school for all the reasons that you mentioned in the videos. I am having issues as well getting responses from emails is taking 3-5 weeks because it is growing so fast because there are just so many people wanting to go to UMPI. But I am willing to be patient because it is just growing pains. I think in the next couple months it will get better after they are hiring and onboarding of new staff. I plan to start the next session!!
Unfortunately you have to stay in their azz like a colonoscopy. I had to keep calling and emailing, when they get over whelm they will allow the calls to go straight to voicemail.
I'm glad your speaking on this. So far this has not been the experience i expected. I have had class curriculum change,when I'm waiting for final to open. I have waited a week for feedback on milestones. Bio105 is so tedious and knit picked. I dont understand why this class is so tight . I'm not in medical school. So far i haven't accomplished anything at my pace😂. I can only laugh. With all that being said I still believe this is the best CBE school out there. Just needed to vent😊
Sounds like an inexperienced professor who thinks their class is worth more than it actually is. I had a couple of those when I was at Swinburne University and switched to Monash University because I couldn't handle the incompetence after one semester. The classes I took at Swinburne were just undeveloped and the finals were a disaster.
you should have done bio on sophia...all the umpi guides say to avoid it at umpi...
@Aglahad you can't avoid it unless you took it at another college. I took the human bio on Sophia. It's not the same, unfortunately.

I'm so grateful for this school. It's the "price to pay" in patience for an amazing inexpensive opportunity. It was so tough waiting the 6weeks for my evaluation!
There's plenty of for-proft schools with speedy enrollments and literally 10× the cost.

I'm about to graduate from UMPI after this term and it has been amazing. The change to Brightspace didn't slow anything down for me. A couple of professors were very slow to grade (up to two weeks for final to be graded) though.
Feedback time is 72 hours now at UMPI just FYI.

This happened to me unfortunately. I was between LUO and UMPI and I had to go with LUO because UMPI was taking so long to get things together and it nearing the semester times and I was dying to get back into college. This was about 6 months ago

Thanks to this channel, I enrolled in UMPI and completed my BLS. I am now hoping to work within UMPI to help future students with their academic journey. UMPI is such a great establishment! (Shout out to Dori Beane)

I had my consultation with Dr. Daily in July/August, and we mapped out a plan, and UMPI hasn't gotten back with me from then. I want to get started but can't continue to wait.

I applied to UMPI last night at 1030 PM (because of CH 😊). They called me this morning at 9 AM. I have an AS and 18 Sophia credits. Im looking forward to see how many credits they will accept. Great info. Keep it coming!

I like how UMPI seems more project and assignment-based vs the proctored exam focus that WGU has. I can do what I need on my own time at my own pace. Hopefully, they will be back to what they once were in efficiency by the time I plan on attending. I would like to finish my degree quickly to use less of my GI BILL and save the remainder for graduate school.

I attend Bellevue University about to graduate soon. I shaved off a year of my degree and would have done possibly twice this time off if I had known about the tactics you teach here. I wanted to let you guys know I haven't taken a proctored exam during my enrollment for the past two years, they do award a GPA, and although there is no soft submission of assignments professors I've had are willing to communicate assignment requirements and if they fail to do so or you miss interpret most professors have let me resubmit and have often modified my grades when explaining how I interpreted it. I think the only catch is if you transfer more than like half your degree 60 + credits you lose out on honors

There are issues with admission it might get slow, but man the experience was amazing. I joined after seeing ur videos and completed 18 our of 19 courses in a session. Super nice and responsive courses and I also did your course which was so fun. Yes there are issues but being proactive was the biggest factor that made everything better and it helps to be a little nice

It’s too bad people have experienced this, I have been extremely lucky to always have someone reach out to me within a day. Even when I call, the staff there are so friendly it really sealed the deal for me. They were also able to give me over 30! Transfer credits from military training.
So glad it’s working out for you! They just hired a number of new people, so hopefully those problems are behind them :)
Ugh I just had my consultation last week with Lauren, and sold me on going to UMPI, now I am hearing this, I lost that warm fuzzy feeling on UMPI.
The good news is college is rarely about warm fuzzies :) While it’s annoying to deal with long wait times when you’re excited, there’s a good reason the wait times are long-the product is superior and enough of the market knows it! Hang in there if you can, and I’m guessing Lauren gave you things to work on in the meantime if you didn’t have too much transfer credit to make that possible :)
Updated experience - I enrolled in UMPI this week to start in May, I didn't see any real delay in responses to emails. Hopefully they have got back on track.

I’ve been in the process getting enrolled. It’s been difficult to get an answer with emails from admissions. I understand they are busy with other students but having to wait 2 plus weeks or just no answers to emails are unacceptable. I try to follow up with but I can barely get a peep out of anyone except when I send multiple emails. I agree, they should either cap the amount of online enrollments if they can’t handle the influx of students. I’m most likely going to miss fall 2 because of the delay. I missed fall 1 and now fall 2. Received the degree audit but waiting for an update on the courses that needs to transfer in, some credits didn’t transfer in correctly. Sorry but need to vent, I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Just wanted to add that I’m still grateful for UMPI for an opportunity to finally graduate with a degree, just not happy with the enrollment experience.
Vent away! You are most definitely not alone in your bad admissions experience, sorry it’s to the point of messing with your graduation timeline 😔 Hopefully the new hiring they are doing will help a ton!
ridiculous wait time. I applied a month ago. Adviser was nice and got back to me then they went rogue barely communicated via email.
Probably missed the deadline by now, could've sent my stuff I lot sooner had I had good communication from them.
They are likely overwhelmed the school is the size of a high school if that. They need to put a cap on students

Their BIO 105 class sucks. It's way too detailed. It's definitely not a class that should be taught for non BIO majors.
It is the absolute worst. I'm not one to complain, but it sucks big. I have been in this class for three weeks and only half way through module 3. The instructor only grades what seems to be 1 assignment every 3-4 days.
You ain't kidding brother. I'm about 3 assignments from sending in this stupid Owl crap and then the last 4 electives. I just want to pass, I don't even care about an A anymore.

Could you do a video on competency based masters? College Hacked is the reason I went to UMPI. Great experience at UMPI, are they busy absolutely and can be slow to start up but well worth it . CH helped me cut my remaining courses from 2 years to 6 months . I’m done in December!🎉

I just got accepted last week and I was told I needed to sign something before my transcript eval happens… Im scheduled to start 10/23… I’m transferring about 70 credits. And trying to hack the other 20 credits through Sophia, but I don’t know what courses to take from Sophia.

They processed my application pretty quickly. I got my acceptance email in 2 days. So last week. Have not yet gotten back my transcript evaluation yet.
Awesome! They’ve recently made some changes to their admissions company, we’ve heard :) So hopefully things will only continue to improve!
I couldn’t get WGU to call me back, even with an appointment, and my credit eval took months.

they arent bad, liberty is 100x worse 2/2 its evangelism

Do you think they will go the Thomas Eddison route? Getting more stricter with their credit transfers? On the flip side they can offer different degress with the new students aka more money in the future.
So far no indication they are upset by the volume, thankfully :) Just doing their best to adapt.

While I salute this school for being cheap and quick, I must say the education quality of the classes is poor. Go here if u want a degree fast and cheap. Go somewhere else if u care about the quality of education ur receiving. The information is too outdated and has grammar errors everywhere
thats literally the whole point of CBE. You want daily lectures go sit your butt in an in-person university with class every day. Been there done that...

I have a AST Degree in Business and currently about to complete a Certificate in Cybersecurity. Does UMPI accept Coursera credits?
If they are in the form of a completed certification they sometimes do :) But they don’t accept them as freely as say Sophia credits.

They are terrible.. They've had my official transcripts since last year and all their enrollment "advisors" do is keep extending the start date. Most unprofessional university in the United States.
Yeah I doubt this story. I got enrolled last term within a couple weeks after my transcript was approved
@@Aglahad 100% true I've had multiple advisors and not one has been able to get my credits quantified. So, if you have an enrollment "advisor" I'm happy to see if yours works better.
@@jerrybancroft8275 Are you dealing with the 3rd party contractors or the actual UMPI enrollment person? There is only one. For the amount of shit she has to deal with, she has been fine. Only took a month to get accepted and have my transcripts evaluated. Something isnt right here. I have multiple degrees and had no issue.
@@Aglahad who knows. I've dealt with Patrick most recently. Before that Chloe Buck and Malaun Rice. Also, communicated with Jasmine Cote in Financial Aid. I have UMPI email and access to Brightspace just nothing to see or get into.

I assume you mean for graduate school, so yes :) It lowers your chances, given that there are so many applicants and many have gone to ivy league schools, but it doesn’t disqualify you from being able to gain admission.
You will have to stand out in another way because your academics will not stand out in an already competitive environment.

Is it true that one has to get at least a B on all courses to pass at WGU? Or is this only a UMPI thing?
I remember researching this a while back - I'm wanting to say both require a B to allow for your competency grades be counted as such on GPA and to show real academic ability. Can't exactly remember, but 90% sure both are B and up.

Both are good options! UMass appears to be a higher quality academic experience, so priorities will probably decide which is best for an individual. Looking for the most speed possible, UMPI. Looking for better learning, UMass. :)
Does umpi accept Saylor academy courses?
Not to our knowledge. It’s likely they would if you sent the transcripts in, but we haven’t seen any transfer charts.
