arguably makes it worse, previously players had to clear the campers from the hills from enemy side to be able to advance to spawncamping. camping on the hills was such a great way to prevent spawncamping on the map, while not being able to see the enemy spawns(you could see both C and B, but atleast people were able to leave their own spawns somewhat).
also why did they remove the upperpart of the map previously? it was the best part of the map then.

@@devlintaylor9520 cqc sucks for higher tiers, very boring and low skill map type. for lower tiers sure, but for higher tiers long range maps are definetly preferable as they offer more fun and skillful playstyles.

Can't flank with the flanks being removed and all cover being removed for flat terrain. But its great for CAS to absolutely demolish everyone.
I play CAS and I hate this too. A good pilot uses cover and these open maps make the skillgap smaller. Allso a more vertical map design creates more possitions that are viable for spaa. These changes aren't in favor of CAS. They are in favor of stupid lvl 18 70€ Premium-Morrons, wich as an result of 7 generations of inbreed, can't even find an enemy vehicle, if it's right in front of them.
@@game2gether115agreed, it does kind of help CAS but the basis of these changes is a result of all the top tier premiums they keep adding. Like the US teams right now simply get rolled primarily due to braindead players with premium stuff, Russia and Germany are slowly following along too with all these new $70 premiums. I get that war thunders a free game and all but there should be a larger gap between “top tier” and “premium tier” because atm unless you will immediately have the new 13.0 aircraft when they come out you will likely have a load of shitty premium players in the match
Don't forget they did the traction nerf because people were getting into spots they hadn't planned for... Then removed the spots, and kept the damn traction nerf.. And they keep doing this!

the carpathians change was meh imo, there was a ridiculous amount of routes but gaijin didn't need to go full ham on it.
Carpathians still is one of those maps where you can spawn kill directly from capture point A. They never fixed that. In fact most maps encourage spawn camping in one way or the other. Look at Advance to Rhine. You can still stomp other team by attacking A route.
Pretty sure Gaijin is afraid of tits with how they make everything flat.

The entire reason war thunder had good maps is that they allowed flanking and sniping. By removing these spots gaijin has made more vehicles redundant and removed the fun from most maps

Ya I'm hating these creeping map shrinkages. Gaijin want to remove the maneuverability part of the game, and just have front-on slug-out matches or laser-tag in the cities. They are wrecking their own game. I keep discovering new maps they have shrunk and running into the out of bounds timer.

@@Aurora-pi6jr tfw I always run at least universal backups if I run a high tier premium while I grind past the crap low tier tanks without actually playing most of them. (I only did this for the french.)
This is horrific. If there were gonna force us to fight on flat maps, I would’ve preferred they just made new maps instead of slaughtering the existing maps.
At this point, is there even a point to play ground rb? Is this Gaijin’s plan? Since the next update is air centric, they decided to completely make ground battles an absolute mess?
once I catch up in ground trees I'm just staying to the air maps converted to ground maps in custom battles, at least that way I can still enjoy the game
The reason gaijin has ground is for people to play air without feeling like they're playing air. There's a big difference between what is fun and what is historically accurate, and with the new matchmaking system that lumps countries together to be "historically accurate" in realistic matches, I realised that I don't care for realism as much as being able to play any tech tree without being nuked in 5 minutes because the enemy almost always gets a better lineup of tanks. For me, WT has just been steadily getting worse over time. It's a genuine pity that there aren't more games with the same concept and damage system, because the gameplay can be genuinely fun, but everything else just sucks away all enjoyment.
As a avid map explorer im deeply saddened by even more restricted movement. It all began when they made tanks slide on the slightest of hills.

at this point gaijin just needs to make a flat concrete plain, I mean completely flat, 0 elevation change, where spawns are about 8km from each other and there is only one objective in the very center of the map. I think a map like that would actually be more engaging than whatever trash they're making here.
Make it flat, get rid or the flanking routes or make it a knife fight street to street where the first person to push a corner is dead.

@@ZedTerminator and none of those games are highly competitive. However you look at Farcry 2 and 3 and their custom maps were absolutely fucking trash because sweatlords just built spawn camp fests. Warthunder is nothing like dayz or Arma. Warthunder is closer to call of duty and I rather have shit maps than one way maps designed for pure stat padding.

in 1500 hours of ground in just the last 3 years I have not ONCE gotten that extended tunisia map. So yea. I will never even get a chance to experience the much better looking version for my self.
And the carpathian change just hurts so much. Like WHY? That was the way to push the cap if you lost the hill. Now you can no longer do that without exposing yourself to the enemy spawn. Meaning the Hill is now a 1 way ticket and is not a 95% wincondition, but a 100% win condition. Get the hill and you win because noone can get you off it.

I played big Tunisia in Sim battles a few times and in RB I got it in high BRs a few times recently as well. I prefer bigger map over small ones but big Tunisia was really bad around the A point when playing with above BR 8.0 vehicles because you could shoot from spawn to spawn. And you could spawn camp from high dunes between the two caps of either team. The map rework, without having played it, looks like an overall positive for me
That's because the Big Tunisia is SIM only. I got it many times in SIM battles, because in SIM they get extended versions of all maps

@@petrkdn8224 it is not... There are literally posts on reddit and even youtube videos showing people play the map in RB just weeks or even days ago. While I do not know the exact timeframe, DollarPlays just uploaded a video today where he got the map with an 11.0 lineup in RB slapping people left and right with the Vidar from 3-4km away

This is what you get when you keep complaining about spawn camping, and Gaijin doesn't know how to fix it, so they could only minimize the change of spawn camping by removing the chance of people bypassing the front lines and rushing straight into enemy spawns.
Honestly, I think they should just make it so if you're killed in your spawn, you get back your respawn points, the enemy doesn't get credit, and don't lose your vehicle. If there's no benefit to doing it and its actually a detriment, the problem goes away. The game should reward defending the capture zones too. I think if you're in close proximity to a captured point, you should get extra points for every kill. Maybe call it Zone Defended or something similar. Further make spawn camping seem like the least ideal option to a player.
@@DataDownLynk First of all, I'm not defending Gaijin or dislike these cool idea, I'm just giving thoughts as to why these ideas that Gaijin didn't think of. The SP refund is not really ideal due to some maps where you are able to just sit within the spawn perimeter and snipe straight to the capture point (E.g. Poland North East spawn to C). Because of that, Gaijin also has to edit maps. Reward for defending point kill would be great for encourage people to cap the point, but I'm doubt it would stop people from drive into enemy spawn, unless it double kill reward, which make grind little bit faster and Gaijin wouldn't like it anyway.
@@myopickid4180 Then they can by all means edit the map to suit the new mechanics. I think it would stop spawn camping if all of the aforementioned features were added, then change the maps to eliminate problems as they arise. A rock here, a building there.

I've been playing this shit since 2013, much of the map knowledge I gained over the years went down the drain, I would agree with the changes to classic maps as long as new competitive maps were added as compensation, I have less fun with each update, and I feel very angry when I remember how maps were a long time ago.
Not only are the maps terrible, but also the objective and spawn settings, in some matches I simply hold J.
Just when we thought maps couldn't get more monotonous Gaijin comes over and just proves us wrong by making them way more monotonous.

Sorry, but "Big" Tunisia is one of my favourite Maps. Big maps are just more fun in general like Fulda Gap and Volokalamsk. I hate having 90% of top tier matches just being a tiny boxfight inside towns.

the big tunisia was/is pretty good, except the fact that you got shot at after 10 seconds of driving. my favourite map ingame is still pradesh.
I tend to like the big maps more too. But the big Tunisia map was awful at the A point because you were able to shoot from spawn to spawn and AA was basically forced to spawn at the right spawn point. The new layout seems to be better in regards of not having absolutely op overwatch positions.
How do you fellow big map enjoyers see this map change?

How about a brand new map for top tier. Base it off the bakken oilfield, huge wide open map, with geographically sensible cap points, and 1 to 2 kilometer engagement ranges.
With all this map flattening they're doing, they're basically making everything into red desert. Drive forever across a huge map, riddled with obstacles so you can't actually engage at range, and then just fucking die in the cqb cluster fuck at the center.
I hate fucking urban maps, they're literally for brain dead kids who can't use their heads

imo gaijin has to add atleast 2-3 new maps for high tier ground battles... i wish they add new bigger maps where teams can spread out and its not always most of the team fighting in 1 area... the biggest problem in war thunder are the maps and poor map rotation

For Carpathians they probably removed the way on the top of the hill because of it being used as a sniper spot that could let you shoot the whole Alpha to charlie area and it made beta impossible to reach without being shot at

The only thing I don't like is an artificially making super small map borders on maps that are already small. Also Carpathians hole in the rock was completely unjustified. They might have made it more symmetrical, but why would you remove it completely?

Smoke. It should make people use smoke shells and smoke dispensers in viable matter. Also, dude says "oh the hill camp was the worst thing in this map, this map sucks", seconds later says "this hill over here was enjoyable you could fight over here and shoot people there, why not allowed fun".
Granted, carpathians change is... weird, but argument that "oh now you can just spawn camp here and here and they cant flank you" is void. If you already spawn camp there, unless you are blind there is no way that someones is going to flank you trough that gap.
I agree with some people commenting before me. I'd like to have both versions of those maps in rotation and check which one i prefer.
I wonder how much money Gaijin's lead level designer gets paid because it should be zero dollars, zilch, nada, nothing. Absolutely no playtesting is done on any of the maps they create, with little thought for how they would be played in the first place. Gaijin seems to think headbutting through canyon mazes is what players enjoy? I can count three, maybe four maps in the entire game that you can snipe, flank, and brawl on and are intuitive and compact without being claustrophobic.
Even on maps I didn't like, I just adapted, so changing them means adapting all over again but saying that when you have two teammates either side of your spawns miles apart which were almost flat, you couldn't move off either spawn the whole a and g line should be a no go for the opposition. They really don't want you to mix it up anymore do they, I'll be staying at lower BR.
I think the fact that spawncamping or entering the enemy spawn is even possible should be illegal... They could just easily solve that by puttin some assets infront of spawns and if people dare to enter they get locked up by artillery or god knows what.
Gajin fixing the map issues by making them worse must be the choice of the silent majority.
war thunder's biggest issue has always been terrible map design. actually amazing that theyre doubling down on it by just flattening everything. "here's a big open field, shoot each other! good luck!" whoever they got making maps needs to lay off whatever drugs theyre doing. cause it is seriously affecting their decision making abilities

jfc, my primary lineups can't take on much shit frontally, I have to flank (and i prefer to do so anyways), they're just making the maps easier for tanks that can go frontal against most enemies to the detriment of everyone else

Big Tunisia is just so flat you can get sniped from anywhere at this point because there is NO cover except near the Point caps which is stupid and on top of that it takes like 2 minutes to get to each point cap(in the past at least u had cover)
And Sands of Sinai is also very flat. At this point Gaijin should make every flat very flat with your occasional rock here and rock there or maybe a building. I agree Sands of Sinai had a camping spot on the hill in top spawn as it was hella good but in return u can get spawn camped. And Big Tunisia had the same thing with Sinai and spawn camping
Gaijin’s devs are lazy and incompetent. Literally all they had to do was introduce more obscuring terrain/defilades, or delete some cover in other spots. Instead, they make it so that people are forced to lemming, usually leading to one team spamming their most broken vehicles to secure advantage…
War thunder is the only game that I quit on 60% of the maps I get. Since I am on PlayStation I just close the application and it doesn’t lock my crew

For all these flater maps, I feel the spawn detection area needs to be increased for those maps, along with a greater spawn protection time for ground vehicles specifically towards CAS, as you'll have less time to find cover when coming out of spawn, allowing you to be spotted easier, and being more vulnerable to CAS.
i realy love Big Tunisia but these change will made it terrible. every map will be tourned in just F***** flat maps...

They should have just added rocks to block the hillside from being able to shoot at A. Then people would bother going to A in tiers with range finders

They seem to want the tanks to play as if they're soldiers in CoD. Rush around in CQC arenas for constant TDM. Instead of being tanks, hulling down in spots and sniping lol.
No extra proof needed anymore that player base is and esp. tankers are becoming dumber and incapable of understanding 3D and broad spaces. Unfortunately, even in general it has been researched and confirmed that players are becoming dumber and less capable of handling games and scenarios that require patience and long term thinking

IK us players have a lot of annoyances from this game, but these flattenings of maps and removing flanking is ruining diversivive gameplay. Honestly if it gets much worse with what was amazing maps we may need another Boycott.

I believe Big Tunisia is the best map for ground battles, because it represents real tank combat a lot better. It takes longer to get to position and you never know when you're being observed, so you have to scan the horizon. You can snipe which I much prefer over urban combat, because you have better chances of surviving. The only issue I think is the distance between the 3 capture points, so it's better with only 1,2 or even death match.
I feel happy and very disappointed by that flanker spot happy to counter this to let less people shoot across the whole map to kill someone at their spawn, but I feel mad especially in top tier that we fight more frontally again high armored tanks and stock heat-fs is not fun
Sands of Sinai one is annoying. Those spots were quite useful while not really being all that broken. In fact the one north is actually pretty ass most of the time, but it definitely had it's pros - now heavier armored vehicles (and those with generally fucky armor like the Panther that gives them good defense) are gonna have an even easier time since they get a more flat map while rats and softer TDs lose some cover and a occasionally useful vantage point.
Now they’ve opened up Sweden they can go back to old Italy where the streets were open.

Saw the title and clicked knowing gaijin... few mins in yep! They take away a flank or spawn camp spot... to give a better spawn camp spot. Im not even suprised anymore. Its like gaijin coudlent care less and only listens to people who suck at the game and scream that hill is bad take it away.
