  • Need Hurricane Shutters? Make them yourself for less than $10 a window. Hurricane Fabric cost too much at $200 plus a window. If this is too expensive for you and Plylox clips don't work because you have a narrow window recess or wood trim, then Hurricane Panel Locks may work for you.
The materials to make them only cost around $10 for a window plus plywood.
In 2005, Lawrence Pecoraro started a company producing a Hurricane Shutter securing system called Hurricane Panel Locks. Lawrence was 76 when he started his company. 9 years later when Pecoraro was 85, the company was dissolved and Lawrence Pecoraro died in 2018 at the age of 89. Hurricane Panel Locks are no longer made, but you can make them for your own windows.

This is essentially what truckers use in semi tralers to secure pallets in place, called load locks.

Do you think this would work for sliding glass doors? Or are they too wide. And of course, sliding glass windows would require multiple panels of plywood. Any opinion or suggestions.
