So sad that losing that game changed the Brazilian attitude to football! Brazil 82 are maybe the best side that never won. I was a young Scottish kid watching them play Scotland and it was like the two teams were playing DIFFERENT sports. And it wasnt just Scotland, the way they played was just incredible. Thank you brasil

This team of 82 only lacked Reinaldo of Atlético Mineiro, the best striker in Brazil at the time, far superior to Serginho and Careca, he had the level to get where Ronaldo and Romario arrived, including Romario's idol when he was a child. But the injuries ended his career. He fought against the military dictatorship like Socrates. Here are some goles and regates de él: czcams.com/video/zD1-IS5LpSU/video.html

As you were only 21 you are forgiven, but the 1970 World Cup WINNING Brazilian team was far superior.........Pele, Jairzinho, Tostao, Gerson , Rivelino, Carlos Alberto. It’s nice that you remember a losing team, but they were inferior to the 1970 team. I watched both world cups so am able to form that opinion 👍 You can’t be considered the best if you don’t actually win the trophy that confirms that you are the best.

Note that, like the champion Brazilian team of 70, the 82 is the most talked about to date, as it has never won anything. That was the mistake of Socrates, to be a leftist militant. But we understand, because at that time people were deceived by lying and corrupt politicians.
The left destroyed education, health, security and implemented the biggest corruption scheme in the galaxy. Everything that is wrong they support> abortion, gay marriage, gender ideology, drug release, pedophilia and so on.
The Brazilian people well missed the democratic military government, where religion, families and private property were respected. Where we had security, we could walk quietly through the streets without fear of being mugged. For all this, the people took to the streets to overthrow the leftist socialist / communist president and democratically we elected the military and captain of the army: Jair Bolsonaro.
And he is being the best president that Brazil has had in the last 35 years. Two years have passed since the government, and there is no case of corruption in the federal government. The whole media is against him, because she participated in the corruption schemes with the parties of the communist left. President Bolsonaro cut the billion dollar funds that filled the bank's press accounts. The media participated in corruption with politicians. That's why they hate President Bolsonaro and spend 24 hours a day creating fake news against him. But we, the people, are on President Bolsonaro's side. Some very interesting curiosities for the ones that don't know:
    - Guardiola said that the Brazi'ls 1982 team was his inspiration to define his style of game. You can notice that a lot of the passes you see in the video are first touched, something we saw again in Guardiola's Barcelona. Definitely, something revolutionary for the time.
    - Socrates was the first player to ever use the back heel pass intentionally (you can see a lot of "advanced for the time" passes in this video
    - the LB of that team, was right footed - Junior. Of course, he also could use the left foot, but he always played on the left side
    - the bench was as good as the starters. Players like Roberto Dinamite, Dirceu, Batista, Paulo Isidoro would constantly enter the games
    - No team in the world is unanimous and this team had 2 players that the crowd and press did not trust entirely, such as the rest of the team - The GK Waldir Peres and the Striker Serginho. However, as Brazil would win every game, the crowd would tolerate those 2 in the main squad and Tele Santana (Brazil's coach at the time) was nationally beloved.
    - Cerezo missed a very silly pass in the game against Italy that resulted in the Italians' goal. For a long time, he was considered the "one to blame".
    - In that time, the National Teams had more time to train together. Most of Brazil players were playing in Brazil National League. Therefore, the comradely and team chemistry were very good.
    - Many say that after that WC, the football changed. The "defensive" minded coaches started to gain the market and this probably only changed after Guardiola's Barcelona.
    Cheers!

Serginho wasted a lot of chances.....and people took notice when the team lost. Zico created an openning for Serginho two or three minutes after Rossi's first goal and he missed with only Zoff to beat. Kinda like the first Higuain. Brazil was also really unfortunate to lose Careca on the eve of the tournament. He would have started instead of Serginho had he not picked up that injury

Tele Santana made some mistakes at this tournament which when you add them up cost Brazil - it's the little things that can make a difference in the end. After the first couple of games when it was obvious that Serginho wasn't up to it, I don't know why he didn't drop him for Paulo Isidoro and play Socrates as a withdrawn centre forward a la Kipiani/Cruyff. I would also have played Edevaldo at right back who I think was better defensively than Leandro, this would have offset Junior constantly playing as an inside forward. Also not playing your best goalkeeper Emerson Leao because of 'issues' was a bit silly. You play your best team and goalkeeper is a vital position especially at the highest level.

IT'S A LIE OF THE PRESS, THERE WAS NO MILITARY DICTATORSHIP HERE IN BRASI. THE MIND PRESS.
I lived my adolescence in the time of the DEMOCRATIC MILITARY GOVERNMENT, and I can say, we never had any dictatorship.
At that time, we were free, we had the right to come and go, work, study, leave the country and enter again.
The censorship that the press talks so much about, was because they (the press) could not destroy families, moral values, nor the innocence of children, as they do today, it was this "censorship".
At the time the military took over the government, to avoid a murderous communist dictatorship along the lines of Cuba, Russia, China, etc., Brazil was a real favela, had no infrastructure, and was the 44th economy in the world ranking.
The military placed our economy in the 6th position of the world ranking, the GDP was 14%, and all the infrastructure that we still enjoy today is his legacy.
Military presidents and their families all died poor, nobody became a millionaire with the people's money. Quite different from the civilian presidents who took over later, right?
In their time, bandits were treated as bandits, and those who had rights were good citizens. Today, things are reversed. I don't need to comment, do I? Why did Brazil get to this point?
Well, in the past, the people only had the communist press and communist teachers to deceive them, that's the truth. See that today, with the internet, people are already getting smart and seeing that they were deceived.
Pay attention, so they don't make you a useful idiot.
"The same people who call the military dictators, call Fidel President."

I think Italy won not because they were better in skills or superior than Brazil, but, it is the genius work of Rossi who capitalised his three(3)opportunities to the fullest. @Fernando Cunha actually before the world cup there were two awesome strikers, Careca (the best striker at that moment in Brazil) and Reinaldo (quite similar style and talent to Romario). Two true beasts. Both of them got injured before world cup. It was a real tragedy. It even changed the team's dynamic. Careca and Reinaldo could run with the ball, dribble, kick from outside the box, 1-2 passes, give assistances, good crossings, change positions with Zico, Socrates, Falcão, Cerezo or whoever was playing as midfielder. With Serginho, who were much stronger that both of those, but slower, less skilful and with less resources, they needed use it as a post player and do more crossing balls in the box instead of fast 1-2 as usual and this even exposed more the defense as the full backs needed run more times towards the attack end line. It downgraded the national Brazilian team's dynamic a lot. They could score maybe even two times more goals and leave the defense more solid and harder to beat as the full backs could stay more.
Just a couple of speculation about a likely future that never happened, although they have some well founded factual basis.

No team has ever won a World Cup with 4 incompetent defenders, or ever will. It's simply impossible. Yes, players who can do special things HELP you to win a World Cup, but that's completely irrelevant if your entire back four refuses to do the basic things.

True, and I have seen them all starting in 1968-1970 ... You can plainly see that back in the '50s the players' individual skills were clumsy because they had missed an entire generation of kids playing football due to WWII. This is the main cause leading to the supremacy of South American teams and even Hungarian players right after the war ended. Very few countries in Europe and the world afforded to keep their internal championships running during the war, and Hungary and Italy were just two of those select nations (if it weren't for the Superga disaster, who knows what the final configuration of World Cups 1950 and 1954 would have been !)

@@jamesstevenson7725 South American players kept on playing football from 1939 through 1945, not being at war as everybody else in Europe. Children in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina had the opportunity to whet their footballing skills unhindered by bombs or war terror, so when they reached maturity in 1950 - 1958 they were much better players than anyone else in Europe in their age group. "The Golden Horde" Hungary was an exception in Europe, their national championship was contested for the most part of WW2 up until 1944. Puskas and the gang had gained experience playing during the war while the German, English, French, Austrians and Italians were conscripted and dying in battle. Sweden's or Spain's footballers just the same. Could you ever imagine Sweden reaching third place in 1950 or the final against Brazil in 1958 had it not been neutral during WWII?
