This jointly reinforced smith as the master strategist he was and shows how dirty Blake was treated in season 3. Conditioned or not, the cold terminator that Juliana faced was completely out of character .
Smith is an anti anti hero in my opinion. He seems like a great leader but at the end of the day he is self-serving man who thinks only of himself and has done unspeakable things to innocent people. Behind it all Smith is a coward. Of he was going to stand up to the Reich he would have done it before he joined them.
Smith was a manipulative and cold but in my opinion he was the most real human like chareacter on the show. Many things he did he was forced to directly or by the pressure of his position in the nazi party.
The buttons do not launch the nukes, it just sends a message to the operators in the nuclear arsenal to launch the nukes, so if he accidentally pressed the button, the operators would get the signal and call if it is confirmed to launch nukes, the repliers would say no.

But, the scientific capacity of the Nazi's in this alt-world very clearly shows them as being more than capable to deal with and plan around it all. Even if oddly their nuclear arms were behind ours... Guess arrogance of the power of the Heisenberg Device lead to little development on that front. @@xJohnny_Ax The German V2 rocket technology from 1944 provided the basis for all global space programs after the war even in the real world. I'm sure especially a world power like this fictional Reich would jump at the opportunity of the new frontier of space, the propaganda value of it was massive during the real space race too.
@@mlgmake that’s a good point but here’s my line of thinking of this, was there a “need to” for this universe’s Reich to reach into space and have a space race? The NASA program was built with help of not only Nazi scientists that defected, but Jewish scientists that survived the Holocaust and they were probably purged in this timeline.

This show wasted Rufus Sewell's awesome character on a garbage plot, and wasted so much time on boring-ass Joe, who couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. Just excruciating how much potential was squandered.
*Except for the insane nuclear attack decision , Heusmann actually was a true world leader. Producers decided to make him look like a mass murderer for this twist, but he was better for a Reich World and for humanity . And I hated what they did with Heusmann character .. His thoughts about economy , politics and devolopment were great .. Consider that all the world was ruled by one nation and 1 man . ( In this case 2 nations ) but still .. his ideeas about transportation , inovation and technology would have skyrocketed human civilization far ! And the race ideology didn't actually suit Heusmann , he was more of a visionary industrialist . Of course american producers had to tear down the nazis for the narrative and political correctness but in all fairnest Heusmann was the man for that world and actually could help change the Reich for the better !*
