- In this video we are going to go over jojo3000, one of Runescape's most iconic lurers. The title is simply theoretical and is not a true representation for how much he lured as jojo3000 and all of his accounts were banned before he was able to offload most of the gold. He also could not hoard the rares he lured until they skyrocketed to today's prices as a result of being banned. I hope you guys enjoy this video!

The number is the title is completely theoretical and not realistic. It also doesn't include the 60-70 other rares that he lured. These numbers would've also assumed that he transferred the lured rares off of the accounts before the ban happened, and held them all until today's prices which we know wasn't the case.

Honestly the number is believable. The true shady guys who do this and source all their supplies from off-market deals make these sorts of figures regularly.

He was so sad because he lost that one Camelot sword and the blurite sword from the fally quest. He told me those were the best weapons in the game and at the time I believed him lmao
Great vid; I remember getting tribesman lured back when osrs first started. Guy was taking me to his friend in shilo to sell something to, for a really decent price. I knew something was up but went along with it anyway to see where it would go. I had forgotten there was more than one set of tribesmen, so when I dodged the first set and he was still down to lead me, I ended up getting poisoned by the next set and dying. Felt embarrassed af because (1) I knew something was up and (2) I had an irl friend who was also playing osrs right by me on a laptop and he saw the whole thing go down. It was a huge fail and I should have known better.
I suck so much at falling for social engineering schemes that my best account so far has been an ironman account, simply because I can't grind money and end up getting ripped off being greedy and falling for something silly. Rocking a maxed ironman rn, and working on the combat tasks rn - to show how far I've come.
But ya these historic vids are mad interesting. I vibe with it. The history of lures and scams is pretty epic from a sociological standpoint. Like, people come up with some shifty stuff and it resembles real life scams. I've been able to avoid irl scams thanks to getting scammed in runescape so much as a kid, on some real sht.
Ahh yeah that was a big lure in early rs2 bc of the unexpected huge poison damage ticks. It is definitely interesting from a social and psychological standpoint, I agree.

Correction: I misspoke and said that name releases of banned accounts could muddy the water further. I for some reason thought perm banned/locked accounts could eventually have their names released. This is not the case as Jagex hasn't done so.

This brings back memories. I lured with jojo in the early days. It was probably about 5 or 6 of us in a group that would lure together. We would share accounts and always have one posted in the wilderness ready to kill the bait. We would just go to world 2 to find random people and message them. We'd show them our shit and convince them that we were quitting and having a drop party. Looking back at it, we were dumb af and the dudes we killed were hella gullible. Xenox ice in @ 5:45 was my neighbors account. I've got tons of pictures in an old photobucket account. Glad i've grown up from this shenanigans haha

It's crazy cause me and Friend Logan who was apart of Jojo lurig clan back in day remember him getting bad and quickly regretting posting lurning videos cause if he would waiting at least til 2010-2013 if he could stay unbanned that log he would have been crazy rich but I remember when he got banned lot people keep luring but also all are accounts got banned I got my only and last account left with blue partyhat and white and I haven't played game since 2008

You are correct, I misspoke slightly. Locked and perm banned account names typically do not get released by jagex

Lol I love RuneScape you can literally be a hero or a villain. You can make someone’s day or ruin it. RuneScape let’s people choose they own path. I remember being lured I started playing RuneScape as a kid so I was very gullible I was lured for my full Rune I worked hard for and I had my account hacked before. Good ole times luring is a part of pking if they gullible enough to get lured. 😂 But all of that made my experience playing RuneScape better because you never know what people will do on RuneScape. That’s what made RuneScape so fun.

I remember when you could be following someone and they could run you into the wilderness if you weren’t paying attention lol. I used to get trashed with wilderness traps and scams as a little kid hahaha.
Had that wine of Zamorak lure done on me. Odd thing is, the guy doing it apparently felt so bad about doing it once I ran back and spoke to them about them luring me, and asking em why they did it, that they Wine of Zamorak lured themselves and basically gifted me what was in their pockets. I picked up the habit of always carrying teleport runes on me from that day onwards. Got me out of a few sticky spots for sure.

This was the best, and the worst, to ever be made against the rules over time. It was culture of the game 10-17 years ago to get tricked by someone and learn to not trust people after. Part of childhood for many people who played this game. It wasn't just a "doubling money" scam or swapping duel arena rules scam, it was social engineering and manipulation and lying, which wasn't against game rules. Over time they called luring outright scamming. I honestly disagree and would enjoy killing the lurers themselves when getting friendly enough and social and talking about rares/wealth or events in the game, it tricks the lurer into bonding with you and feeling safe, less prepared, and turns the cat into the mouse so to say. Easy to lure the person thinking they're in charge in many situations.
A good example probably 2012 I was saying something like "Stand there a moment to prove it's safe" in the clan wars lose-all-items portal, as someone talked me into going East to the wall, staying behind the safe area line. I noticed they ran and dropped crap behind some object in the distance I want to say it was a tree... however my other account was further beyond that area as I ran from the portal, straight north, then east, and waited to entangle. For some reason, NOBODY was with them, NOBODY at all where my main was waiting, they must have been dumb enough to think a low level account could quickly lure and kill my lower level as it had no food. They had a low level and I had a polypore staff 1 iteming with protect item on the main, and only took a few food and roughly 10 entangle spells. I got the guy in less than 5 hits, had to be below level 70, for between 50-100m loot with under 15 minutes of talking in total. That area brought a ton of opportunities since any combat level could fight there. Though, I miss seeing edgeville having any people at all. It's so dead now in terms of any pking really.

I remember somebody (maybe these guys) tried to lure a friend of mine. They dropped some obby shields and capes in the low level wilderrness in hope of getting a free partyhat. I logged in exactly next to the items and stole everything. All I can remember is that there was somebody with a partyhat set (or at least a few of them) standing next to my friend outside of the wilderness.

Fun times scouting official forums for targets and talk them into walking from Edgeville to the monastery back when you had to go through Wildy or take a huge detour, worked on most attempts 😂

2007, 9 years old, just completed dragon slayer 1 and bought full rune armor gold trimmed and a rune scimitar and a gamer named speakeasy got me to go to the wildy border just by telling me he wanted to gimme something I was so naive lmao, man dropped a pile of gold across the border and I crossed it and got owned losing everything. Took me a solid month to come back and continue to play

Watching jojo3000 for the first time back in the day, inspired me to become a talker for some of the most notorious pkers back in the day. Some of these pkers are featured in his videos. We would have the methods down packed. It started off as going for robin hood sets, being they were 30m back then. Then one day we just got lucky and scored rates and we never looked back after that.

i used to lure people on private servers into following me around at the edge bank by saying come look at this or id show them how to no clip into areas you couldnt get to etc untill they go to get a drink or the toilet or whatever just as soon as they stop replying and are still following me id run them into the edge wildy wack on full torva claws and steel titan spec them out... it didnt always work but i got alot of decent loots

Around the time Noxious items came out me and my friends wrote a script to get people to drop their items for us. We would convince them we are making a video about wealthy players and then daring them to drop their items. We would get them first to join a mini game chat and ready up (ughh forgot which mini game it was :( )so that we can easily communicate if we separated from each other on the map. Then we would just sweet talk and tell him more about other players who have done it for us, we even had our own mock videos made up on CZcams called “Crazy Rich RS Players Dropping Rares!”. So they’d be able to go and see that we are legit. At this point they’d really want to be in the video most of the time. So now I would tell them to meet me at the top floor of the tower of the church in eastern Varrock. I’d tell them to come with no items equipped and just their items in their inventory. Then I would tell them to say hi for the camera and state their name and tell the audience a little about themselves and how they make money. Then I’d dare them to drop their items and trade me to show an empty inventory . As soon as they trade me and I see the empty inventory, I press “teleport group” which has been qued up on my screen ever since the victim readied up over an hour ago. This teleport would send everyone in the group to the top the wheat mil north of Lumbridge. From here, we had proved it to be impossible to get back to the top of the church in time from this exact location. My accomplice would be waiting near there to pick up the item. And that would be that. So many other scripts were created to get people to do what we wanted, masterminds were my friends though. They were genius.

@@therunescapehistorian it's unbelievable to what lengths they will go to pretend to be your friend to earn your trust to go "anti-scam." And they have fake tutorials on it as well. I think some of the animation stalls have been patched now thankfully. And the Toggle PvP helps a lot. But there's still Cursed Energy.

After that me and my best friend found an exploit on another private server which had a fun pk zone.... in the fun pk zone was safe deaths so people would literally have all there bank and switches and rares on them and go in there like it was nothing... some how we figured out on this server if you did ::noclip normally it would log you out... but if you did it in combat now you could succesfully walk through walls and for some reason just outside the fun zone was dangerous so we would trick people into taking off their armor and fighting right near a wall ... when they get low you take them out and claws or gmail plus titan spec we probably got a few thousand worth of usd in donated items max sets phat sets dice bags etc
we had the scam going on for months my mate also had a pmod account who was very trusted and we convinced the admins that the people who got lured were trying to scam us and the admins for free items by muling the lured items onto lvl 3 accounts so they couldnt find said lured items in our banks ... eventually someone recorded us doing the lure and posted on the forums ... we still got people for a few months before eventually quitting the server after most people we knew had already quit

Jojo came back when free trade was reinstated which could fill a part 2 to this video alone. I had the privilege of luring with him for about 6 months during that period. He was notoriously hard to work with and was hyper focused to the point where he would choose to work along side people who would not talk/banter/shoot the shit at all. Seemed to become less and less interested in luring the more other talkers would catch up to him in terms of loot.
