- Hey guys! The old ranging guild used to be crazy. It was filled with botters and lurers at various periods in Runescape History. This resulted in the Death of many noobs and bots.

Dude, the rune arrow rewards are actually good. Me and my cousins Jimbob and Skeeter always come here to farm tickets.
😂
Good old times, I remember this too.
Jimbob and skeeter i'm losing it
Plus ranging tickets are worth it.

The armour salesman is actually quite unique. He sells some low level ranged gear, all of which are required for certain clue scroll steps and they cannot be found in any other shop all over osrs. Out of memory this is about 6pieces of the ones he sells. This can be useful for ironmen in general but especially ultimates so they don't have to craft the gear. Furthermore, he wears a 2h bow in one hand alongside his shield!
I feel like it's important to remember that shops actually used to serve a purpose when the GE didn't exist so prices were higher from players, and you had to stand for ages trying to buy stuff in W2 Fally.
I want to go back tot he days of noobs selling gems to the general store for 50gp
the GE ruined runescape and turned it into a soulless minmaxed grindfest
@@SevenCompletedfax
@@SevenCompletedliterally.. I finally decided to give it up after all these years.
@@SevenCompletedplay iron?
Fun fact, settled used this location for his 1 inventory slot account, even learning that you could slowly farm the upstairs for Addy arrows very very slowly
Can confirm that this existed. I remember dying to this lure, and being so upset. Like pacing in my kitchen back in middle school lol
I’ll have you know the range guild is not dead content , me and my cousins Jim Bob and Skeeter having been going there fore more than a decade to farm rune arrows.
Ah yes, my cousins billy bob and jimbo farm there til' this day as well.
I definintely played the minigames there as a kid. I explored anything unlocked back then.
It was so fun when people were all over exploring. Didn't matter what world you were in, people were all the map actually exploring and playing the game having fun.
I can't even log in anymore, its not the same. Just makes me miss the old days.
A bank chest would do a lot for this place. Tanning close to a bank and the fact you can do bank skills. It would at least see SOME use without affecting any meta.
This is one guild that could definitely do with an overhaul. Most guilds could have higher content for being higher quest point/relevant skill to that guild. Perhaps tickets could be spent on imbuing d-hide armour, which is untradeable and has slightly higher armour bonuses and a small range strength bonus for wearing the set. This wouldn't be meta changing, but would help restricted content players, and Ironmen who don't want to PvM for better gear.
When I started playing last year and didnt understand how the game worked I thought id be an archer main or something and spent a lot of my time hanging out here lol
Hope y'all enjoyed the video! A little weird dead content/lure type video. I'll see you guys again next week!
You forgot to mention that lurers would find noobs in range guild and lure them into temple of ikov quest
I remember this being released and had the same exact thoughts.
"What's the point of this?"
Great video Historian!
Rune Arrows and 99 cape are literally the ONLY reason to go to the guild. The arrows may not be profitable but stack enough up and theyll carry you to higher levels of ranged
I have fond memories of having my 99 Range party way back in 2009. It was my first 99, and wanted to see how fast I could kill the archers on top. My shoddy internet disconnected me on the highest level end. Luckily one of my friends had a good prayer and blessed my grave and got my Karil's back.
I miss doing this, walking around with a Guthix prayer book and max blessing gravestones i randomly came across giving them that sweet sweet 45 mins or 1 hour recovery timer.
I think what stunk the most is that rune thrown axes existed back then, but I can only think of the dagannoth lighthouse as a place to even try using them on more than maybe 3 targets at once
i remember spending my whole bank on runes excited to start training magic. I was wondering around and found myself here. i climbed up the ladder and saw someone killing the rangers so i thought i would give it a go. got shot down making my way back towards the ladder to escape. lost all my runes and only shot off like 2 spells lol. i had no idea how to get back to get my stuff
great vid. more like this! nice to see channel growing
Tanning dude was the only way to tan hides in leagues unless you had desert or something. I think they updated him cause he didnt have a tanning interface like the normal tanning spots
I died to this lure and ended up using it myself a few times after gaining some levels and fancy gear XD playing runescape as a 14 y/o was goofy af.
I was in a clan with a pure who did 40-99 range training on the ticket game. Bought all rune arrows with the rewards and it was the first green cash stack I saw.
It took me like 40 videos to recognize the southern accent, and then as soon as you said jim bob and skeeter i felt like my cousin scoot was telling me a story about a vidja game. Amazing accent lmao
As a kid I played the archery minigame to get 50 ranging.
This was the only lure I died from back in the day. I had no idea those archers up there would attack you and they killed me before I could react.
Love your channel dude, your voice is perfect for the content as well
I spent more time in the archery tent in the circus than the ranged guild.
i actually remember being there when this happened.. man... that was so long ago...
I was lured up here as a kid and just about lived with my D Legs, I learnt a lesson that day.
The only use this guild has had in the past 5 years is Link and Rargh's pvp challenges
bruh back in 2007/2008 when i became a member for the first time, i was in catherby fishing and this guy got me to follow him into the ranging guild. he made me go up in the tower and dance on the west side of the tower and dance for a "youtube video" and i got instantly sat down by the rangers and lost my whole bank (which was about 700k at the time) it was the first time i ever got lured in this game and continue to have trust issues to this day.
I love the ranging guild, sublime nostalgia vibes, classic RS2
I remember going upstairs many years ago before the grand exchange/trade restrictions etc and watched someone die and drop all kinds of goodies like a Santa hat, Saradomin pages etc
We used to lure the one ranger over so the bots clicking the range training would then click a ranger dying us obtaining all their items
Remember when Settled spent like 13 straight hours here with his 1 inventory slot
I made a lot of gp buying tickets at the GE and buying rune arrows using them
so why are there archers up there that continuously shoot at a single spot? what purpose does that serve?
people used to say "drop party" and then lure people from cammy to the upstairs, it happend to me
Finally a creator with a southern accent
Range cape dude with the longbow and shield.. dang XD
The ranged guild is my favorite guild looks wise because I liked the concept. To bad it’s pointless for most regular players.
Damn, you know me and my cousins Jimbob n Skeeter.
Another good video
As you predicted, Jim bob here
I remember killing those bots by luring the rangers but it was before free trade came back
Hey me and my cousins jimbob and skeeter still go here to collect arrows
Feels like a lot of the guilds were rather hit or miss with very little actual content to them.
I remember getting lured there when I was kid lol. Never went back lmao
I remember messing with bots here in early 2011 after wildy and free trade came back good times
I wasn’t even lured here. Just a young explorer at the time :(
Hmm. I think I'll give Runescape a try. Never had it before.
This used to be a meta for low hp pures
Would adding a teleport to the ranging guild be something that could make this place alive again? For tanning purposes that is.
Combat bracelet and therefore house jewellery box already has one, so probably not
Runescape offers an interesting look at human nature.
I know this will sound like the typical, ironic "my ranged-guild-locked-uim" account comment... but I have a Ranged-Skill only UIM that basically only trains at the Ranging Guild. It's not very engaging, but it's cool. RSN: "is Ranged"
Pre eoc I botted 99 range on the target thingy, it was actually very busy there a few years before eoc, alot of botters there.
I made millions luring people into those arrows, _millions_ I had my bank filled with all the Misc rares, whips, barrows sets, it funded my crystal bows and crystal shields.
People were botting and getting banned, I was luring 30+ players a day a on my main and never got banned once.
The only reason I stopped, is because I had the funding to start a luring clan, where I became one of the richest players of the time, yet never posted a single video about it.
In the end, my account was hacked and I lost roughly 70% of my wealth, the other 30% is still on RS3, I considered converting it to OSRS, but I was enjoying the legit grind from scratch and never bothered.
It's so easy to make GP in osrs now, my RS3 wealth appears to be a joke.
I do regret not using the gp to buy phats though, because I lost all my rares when my original account got hacked.
Edit to add, you didnt explain the lure correctly, if you stand up there for long enough, the archers would stop attacking you, so you could trade a player and drag them out to the high level archers, or just stand there and wait for them to trade you for the 'free Santa' your alt account said you were giving to them downstairs.
yeah like all of 2 people here ever, one guy safe spotting and another merching.
You have another channel not RuneScape related?
I vaguely remember this place being a death trap, i thought i was crazy but youve proved me wrong. Thanks for the nostalgia
Jimbob and Skeeter lmfao
bank chests in other guilds, but...
it was great for botting the target practice thing
So idk if it's coincidental or they intentionally put it in there but back in the range trianing section in the back of the guild I have pulled 4 ranger boots in under 450 med caskets...just thought I would throw that out there Incase it was out there for ppl to figure out. Or it's a very lucky location for me. Good luck guys hope it goes well for u
Completely coincidental
@@mrmittenns5728 well I feel very lucky then that's wild for real
@@mrmittenns5728hes also likely just lying
also the person getting the clue steps from time to time but that person is in and out in like 5 sec ;)
Ah yes, the old days when content for ranged was near-universally crap. I'd love to see a rework of the ranged guild more on par with the warrior's guild, with a reward similar to the defenders.
Ranging guild just needs gear akin to defenders cause then youd have something to work for
Ah yes I remember botting here
Me and my bros slimbob and jeeter come here all the time. Hell I got 42 fishin in that guild
First love the content brotha
This spot is an instant perm ban
I made tens of millions of Ranging Guild lures back in 06-08, and the most common lure you'd find is actually the archer lure. There are four platforms, but only the West archers have the ability to hit 16s, but you typically wouldn't gather anybody from outside the guild. While this was possible, due to Seers Village being a popular trading hub, you'd actually wait upstairs/downstairs until the archers stopped being aggressive. Their aggression radius extended to almost the entire guild, including downstairs, and it would allow you to move freely.
This is where the lure comes in. Back then, the archery minigame was almost all populated with pures, because it was a way to train ranged without gaining HP levels. You'd find players level 20-30 completely decked out in Robin Hoods, Furies, and they'd have a large cash stack on them so they wouldn't have to leave. You'd tell them that you'd buy their gear for an absurdly high price (while this seems silly nowadays, it worked back then because we were all young and naive), and then tell them you'd be training upstairs in the tower. They would see that you aren't being hit by the archers, and then they'd trade you, and it often would just one shot them. If they managed to run, they almost always had auto retaliate on so they'd come back and get hit again, and die.
This was the primary method, but there were also methods where you'd push people with the security stronghold book trick, but usually this did the trick. If they had higher defence, since you'd offer to buy their armour, they took it off to trade you. It worked a staggering amount of the time.
When they created gravestones, it got significantly harder to lure, but I still got some successful ones, by adding them, convincing them it was a mistake and telling them to meet me somewhere remote with their items for example. The Ranging Guild was an absolute lawless land back in the day, and I'm glad you made a video on it. I just wanted to shed some light on the lure you hinted at toward the end, since I was one of the most prominent lurers at the time doing it, and it was more common than the bot luring for most of its life.
The good days. I botted the shit out of this LOL
pretty sure a friend and I pioneered the tower lure back in the day. Used the gnome cocktail book to animation stall, so when they trade you they walked onto the platform and got clapped lol
Sure you did
This guild does need a revamp it feels like
i used to do this lure lmao, throwback af
i used this lure lmao-🤓
botted my range from like 40-86 in about a week back in 2010. good times.
I also botted range for a few pures back in the day there lol, 09-10 era as well. nice way to train range with no HP XP and not burn all your money on cballs.
nowadays I play honestly though
Am I the only one that used to think the ranging guild was cool af, I literally used to just chill there 🤣
you need to remember that some NPC's that are useless now because of the wiki were needed because the wiki didnt use to exist.
The shield guy came along after the wiki.
Remanber this died many of times 😅
Don't mock my cousins Simbob and Jkeeter please
It's not dead content if you watch Settled.
this is a ranging guild guide not the history of the ranging guild, feels like padded out content ngl
noob
This is literally the worst game ever. Got a character a fire cape and i played a skiller pre eoc that got banned n the nuke when I wasn't ever a bot I was always a human staring at my screen and had all my time and money wasted
But yeah osrs is lame it's gonna die and I hope it does soon and rs3 jagex is a terrible company and they don't know how to make enjoyable content everything feels as if it was made for 2 year Olds and the elitism in the game is sad knowing there's that many virgin lords that scream like they are psychotic on stream over pixels
I have a 200m ish bank in osrs and get ROASTED for it everyone calls you a credit card warrior (flipping even with the tax doing it consistently while actually playing the game its not hard to make money)
In the end chalk that up to more elitism when usually it's the people who talk like that are the ones that actually use their credit cards lol I never spent a cent on this game one single time I used bonds from start to finish only 109 combat lvl.
So yeah I quit this game sucks
Mostly cause of the community
And "sir pugger" fakes all his videos. Nobody let alone a % of the player base is actively spending 1000$ on rs GP
Seriously NOBODY is.
If they are they're lying. It's all worthless crap and always was.
Later freaks
got max cape music cape and quest cape but never knew had a minigame there wtf
the d scim cursor damn
lmao ty for a walk down memory lane
Botted the shit out of this, got lured once with my bank in my inventory on xmas day🥲🥲
