It's an open secret that DJ Sexcidillionaire is Chris Sabat, the Funimation dub voice of Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha, and 8,000+ other characters in the series. He would have gotten in a lot of trouble if he performed under his real name.
the industry hates peoples working on fan projects, specially if its with their bosses' IP .There have been people that lost their VA jobs because they worked on fan projects.
I always loved that Sabat was such a cool dude.
@@ero-senninsama1734 A good chunk of VA's are also unionized and legally are not allowed to work on projects unless the union approves which typically requires that a certain number of unionized members are also given roles within the project, along with what I'm sure is more fine print and red tape on fun projects like this.

In this he’s the second southern narrator after the first one leaves. He was also one of the doctors who sent Goku to earth in the abridged Bardock movie and I think he’s popped up in one or two more places.

The main reason for TFS stopping was addressed in a video they made where they said that despite the issues with Toei they were still planning to do the Bojack movie and DBZ abridged season 3, but upon writing the movie they realized they were burn out and that the quality of their writing was not up to laid to their level of quality, so instead of forcing themselves to work on something they didn't feel proud of and possibly end up stopping in the future midway through the Buu Arc they decided to scrap what they had and leave episode 60 as the ending of Abridged.
And now they’ve redirected that creative energy towards HFIL which is a fantastic continuation of the universe they created.
Fun fact: 14's 'static' is actually an effect from PhotoSounder, a program that turns an image into sound. On the commentary for this episode, they actually showed the images used to make each burst of 'static'.
the reason we never got a proper Buu Saga is really a combination of all those things. the team and especially Kaiserneko, the editor, were burned out from both making the episodes and fighting to keep the show monetized or even online at all, which is also the reason why they wanted to move towards original content so they can turn this into a reliable source of income that isn't completely at the mercy of a Japanese company that doesn't understand how Fair Use works in the west and could take down your entire body of work with the snap of a finger, as has happened to others.
To be fair (while making it clear Toei is still wrong here)....I don't think anybody really understands how Fair Use works

It's so odd to me since Japan has a bustling fan comic industry that even has huge (150k attendees) events just to sell them.
@@BJGvideos Japan doesn't have a problem with fan art, comics and animation for the most part, but DBZA isn't re-animated and uses the original footage. They did have a good long think about using 3D animation for season 4 like they are using for HFIL right now, but chose to not do it in the end.
But back to the original point, fan comic industry in Japan is cool and as long as all the art is your own, most companies don't bother with any fan creations even if they use their IPs and designs.
They also just dont like the Buu Saga anyway. They talked about that a lot in the ep 60 part 1 commentary. They didnt have the same passion for Buu

If you're confused about the Z movies, a majority of them take place in branching timelines.
Except in abridged, they are all considered cannon there but are never mentioned in main line except maybe Garlic Junior.

Only Movie that could actually really happen is Bojack, as it takes place between end of cell and the time skip, fitting in anywhere you'd want.

Canon often refers to continuity within a story rather than just bring officially licensed.
A franchise with different official works set in two different timelines unrelated to each other would mean those timelines are not canon to each other because of being based on different continuity of events.
It can also refer to something being added in an adaptation that was not part of the source material, making the adaptation not within continuity with the source material.

Alot of work for not a lot of pay off since they couldnt monitize any of the videos. the second reason was the copyright strikes and potential to lose their channel. They are voice actors and becuase of Toei they definitely lost work. The last reason was that they just dont care that much about the buu saga and wanted to go out on high note and not lose quality

The main reason they didn't keep the show going was mainly due to burn out. They wanted to try other things and DBZA was getting a little stifling to work on due to the HEAPS of copyright strikes they had to fight to keep their videos up on nearly every upload. Plus they had other stuff they wanted to work on, spin offs like Dragon Shortz, HFIL and FF7 Machinabridged. Plus they had a gaming channel too thats still going on right now, TFSGaming. They did release some shorts parodying Super and very recently we got Buu Bits that are just little jokes they made for another creator and Dragon Ball fan Totally Not Mark when he was reviewing all of Dragon Ball. Also another abridged they did while working on this was Hellsing Ultimate Abridged led by Takahata101 (the voice of Nappa, Cell, and Guru) as it's main writer.

If you look at the date the first episode of DBZA was posted and the last one this project took something like ELEVEN YEARS to complete. After that long you can imagine why most of the crew just wasn't into it any more. They ended in such a perfect high note that it is not hard to see why they felt it was time to walk away.

The original channel got taken down due to copyright strikes, so the first episodes are actually reuploads.
DBZA also had to deal with a million copyright issues because Toei (or the company they hired to take care of CZcams claims) is super pissy so they'd claim pretty much every single episode and the copyright claim situation has only gotten worse since DBZA ended.

What happened to Hman
I'm sure others have commented, but yeah it was a combination of things.
1. The constant fight of keeping the episodes/channel uploaded when Toei and such kept filing copyright strikes. They tried using their own site for a while, but that became a bit of a financial hole.
2. The work was so much. Kaiserneko (voice of Trunks, Yajirobe, Korrin, and a few others) wasn't shy about how much work went into editing the series. He even uploaded videos showing how he edited some of the episodes. On top of that, the writing started to get to them. They've mentioned how they'd have screaming matches over how the scripts should go because everyone started having different ideas of how the show should go. With the Buu Saga being especially long and they couldn't agree how to go about the saga while not only maintaining their current product. but also enhancing and getting better, they decided to stop while the series was at it's peak.
Their most recent commentary episode, they made a statement, "I don't to have a Scrubs Finale!"
3. As mentioned before, there was creative stall when it came to the series after the Cell Saga. At this point, they've been working on the project for years (it took a whole year between episode 59 and 60). They literally went from being a bunch of young adults that were barely out of high school to getting married, having a family, etc. They went from "wow, wouldn't it be cool if we met and/or having a convention at some point?" to "we have to put a pause on the editing at the studio, because we have five conventions back to back that we have to get to."
When their work on the Buu Saga didn't satisfy them - combined with having arguments during the production of the Bojack movie - and just everything else leading to potential severe burnout, they decided to end the series and focus on original content.
After the Cell Games, they came out with Dragonball Shorts (including slice of life episodes) and HFIL. They also uploaded a few shorts featuring some Dragonball Super material. They very recently came out what they call the Buu Bits, which are mini segments of scenes from the Buu Saga.
They also have an original series called UnAbridged which is like their take on The Office - and my favorite of their projects.
Specifically he said "Scrubs final season", which basically retooled the entire set and format of the show. It was a spinoff while claiming to be the same show.

The best part about Goten getting erased is that Dragon Ball runs off of multiverse theory where you can't change the future but only create a new branching timeline.

Years later, at the 23rd Tournament Chi-Chi confronted him about it. Goku did not recognize Chi-Chi at the time, but she promised to explain everything if he beats her. After the fight the confusion got cleared up, and Goku agreed to marry her regardless. Then, he proceeded to beat Piccolo afterwards.
Sadly, even though it got 20 million views, they couldn't really monetize it for various reasons, so I'm surprised they were able to keep producing so much quality content for so long

I could rewatch all of the abridged movies over and over and over. Android 13 is easily tied with broly for my favorite.

The segments where they pause with greyscale and a narrator with a guitar and southern accent play are a reference to the game "Bastion". The music that plays when Goku kills Super Android 13 also come from that game.

its a combo between copyright striking and burn out. they say its not completely off the table that they'll do more, just not now. the ending of the series with goku in heaven talking to all his friends was supposed to be their way of sort of saying goodbye, where he says "maybe ill come back some day, but it is bye, for now at least".

the official answer they gave was that it was disheartening and burning them out because they had to fight toei for every Episode to stay up. Not to mention that at least once every couple months or so someone had to reupload or fight copyright on older videos.
Additionally to that a lot of TFS Members did work full time as voice actors and were actively ruining their career with this because Funimation (I think!) refused to work with some of them during their involvement in this show.
2:33 well its not mentioned in dbza but in dbz they mention that androids 1-7 were failures so they were destroyed. I think android 8 in of dragonball is the first numbered one we see fully working and he was cool. Android 9 is shown in dragonball online he's like an android version of commander red i belive. But even 9-12 were eventually scrapped.
Burnout is the reason. They were halfway through the next movie, and arguing about the Buu saga, and the whole process felt exhausting. They weren't enjoying it anymore. They did eventually come back to do some cg shorts completely divorced from the original series. And they're currently doing a HIFL series of the villains in hell.
It wasn't as much about writing, more so about the constant copyright bullshit they had to deal with.
They addressed with schedules and timing it was hard to keep going considering jokes for buu were harder to write and agree on

That aided in their burn out by constantly demonetizing, re-uploading episodes, dealing with legal issues and being repeatedly struck by Toei for copyright. Japan's copyright laws are incredibly archaic and don't really take fair use/transformation into account. A creator called Definitely Not Mark who makes a lot of DBZ content lost a huge chunk of his channel because they mass claimed him, even though all his videos were reviews, theories and altogether positive feedback on the anime/manga. They don't see any of it as free advertising or publicity, just "Muh content."

It was a mix of things. They’d been going for I think 15 years straight, and they’d been in a battle with Funnimation for a while with copywrite strikes & had to move to their own website for a time before moving back to CZcams around the mid 50’s. They tried working on the Bojack movie but just couldn’t finish it, so they knew they had to wrap it up with 60.

14s voice lines are image files converted to audio you can reveal if you run the audio through a processing app to make it an image again.
I mean for about 4 years when Goku raised Gohan in the original series that was pretty peaceful. And then there was a time skip of after the Cell Saga that was kind of peaceful. And before Super happened the years between the end of Z and GT were peaceful... Now with Super that isn't the case so.... Also certain filler episodes sort of shows some peaceful moments or slice of life but eh not sure you'd count it.
Point is there were some moments of Peace off screen... But the series does show that often the characters are busy on an adventures or doing something mundane before disaster strikes. Though to be fair with the constant threat of the universe in danger the Dragon Ball world isn't the best place to be, I mean I guess if you were an unaware citizen... But like sometimes you get caught in the crossfire or where's the fun in being that in this world.

The one movie where everyone involved cared so little, that at some point during production androids 14 and 15 had their names switched and nobody bothered to fix it.
14:45 - Actually, Android 13 has a great line in the Funimation dub, when Trunks tells him they're just machines with no free will of their own, 13 goes: "Freewill!? Pitiful human! War, segregation, hatred! Is that what you've done with your 'free will', boy? Don't lecture me with your thirty-dollar haircut!"
That line just stuck.
Why wouldn't trunks have brought his sword when capsules allow you to bring literally everything you own with you at all times? Like whole houses pop out of those things.
From what I remember, it was an equal part them being burned out and Toei copyrighting the shit out of them, causing genuine risk of them losing their channel.

Actually there is a lot of "slice of life" like content in DB, both canon and filler
The most recent ones that come to mind are many episodes in DB Super, and throughout the entire series, u do get a glimpse into almost every main, recurring character's normal life

Here's a little bit of trivia for when you guys get to the DBZA Broly Movie. TeamFourStar did not make any changes to Broly's backstory for the abridged movie. What they show in the abridged movie is his actual backstory.
I actually think the original fillers in Z did the downtime and character development, at least in earlier arcs. It wasn’t like filler now where it’s completely separate from the plot itself

The reason tfs stopped, as stated by them in multiple videos, was because, to then, cell saga felt like the best place to end it. And I agree with the decision.
It had nothing to do with copyright or any of that other stuff.
I like that the teen gohan from the future shot was voiced by the VA for Deku from MHA before he got the role
Pretty much all the reasons you listed for them stopping were correct. They were constantly getting hit by Toei and since these took so much effort to make it just became too much to put all that work in to never know if it would get them struck or even sued.
They recently spoke a bit more on the reasons as part of their own reactions to it.
It was a combo of a few things, but the biggest one seems to be just burnout. They started scripting the next movie and it was just a bad time, so they decided to go out on a high rather than force themselves to produce a lower quality buu saga.
Other factors that played into it:
None of them like the buu saga as much as namek or cell.
Copyright issues were a massive pain in the ass.
They're happy with how it ended as-is.
BTW - if you go into the buu shorts, please give a bit of context for some of the clips. They don't all stand alone like the main series kind of does.
For context, the DBZ movies 1-13 are non-canon. I believe Toriyama called them “what if” stories or something. And you can tell they are non-canon by their conflicting time placements.
For example, Goku doesn’t awaken from the heart virus until Cell emerges, which prompts him, Gohan, Vegeta, and Trunks to IMMEDIATELY go train at the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Why would they go shopping, when Cell and the Androids (16,17,18) are on the loose. Also before Goku awakens, Trunks and Krillin already destroyed Gero’s basement laboratory, which had his Supercomputer

Team 4 Star was satisfied with how they ended season 3 and decided to stop there rather than end on a weaker note in season 4.
Krillin really should have his day. He always comes to the fight even when he's unmatched and would die and he knows it. Krillin should get one W from an enemy Goku and gang exhausted and Krillin is last one standing and he has to finish the opponent off, Krillin thinks he can't do it but he can because the opponent is so worn out at this point even Krillin is a match for him now. Would be a cool sight to see.
