The first and last villain in Cates’ run is Jack O’Lantern. Brock and Parker are friends. Brock is recognized by the Avengers. Brock just gave a “with great power comes great responsibility” speech. Dylan’s wearing the dragon. Cates finally confirms he’s a 90’s kid by what Dylan said. A satisfying ending.

I like how Peter was the only person he was technically ACTUALLY talking to 😂
Peter is a real friend to brock by this point.
Everyone else for the most part (save people like the Silver surfer) hes basically just acting as the messenger too.
The describing stuff to the surfer also demands brocks attention, but still not nearly as much as his real friends.
He transformed into a flock of bats to leave that brunch. I think that means it wasn't his real body?

@Dean LeBlanc I can see why you'd think that with Eddie's, "I am and I'm not" response to Peter in the diner, but he clarifies it is his body present at that moment, because he says he has to get back home and that Dylan will be out of school soon. He actually reaffirms it with a, "I told you..." before transforming and restating that he has to get back home.
This issue was, in a word, beautiful. Hats off to Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman for writing what will likely go down as the run on Venom ever

Peter and Eddie relationship in this run is amazing and I will be very mad if it gets taken away by a future writer. This run took venom and propel him to a major character in the universe I can’t see how you can hate this. This is character development and this is what all comics should strive to do these days

Let's just hope this sticks. Don't get me wrong, I like Eddie as Venom (especially after Cates run) but I hope the next writer doesn't retcon stuff to have Eddie lose his new power and position in the universe, and slap him back in the suit. This really does feel like a good place to end Eddie's character arc and maybe see what Dylan can do with his father's legacy

Man, why do I feel like Eddie only allowed Dylan to become Venom so that he and the symbiote wouldn't be alone when he eventually passed away?
List yo, I had to put the book down and take a walk when I saw Eddie old and with the cane cuz you know.....but still, I’m hype for it. I dig the father son dynamic with Eddie kinda being a old Bruce Wayne in the chair lol.

Even if his body gives out though, I'm hoping his mind will live on through the hive and we just see him manifest through other symbiotes kind of like what he's doing now
The alley scene with suited up Dylan and Eddie reminded me of Spawn and Cogliostro. Especially Venom with the chains and Eddie with that epic white beard
Rob hasn't been paying full attention to the King in Black stories. The main story, yes but the Guardsmen I think were given a small description in Planet of the Symbiotes and one in particular who I thought was the only guardsman has a kid who's bonded to a Toxin. The Guardsman(men) are a security force created by Alchemax to fight and kill symbiotes.
Donny is the best Venom writer since Todd McFarland himself.
Todd McFarlane never wrote Venom. David Michelinie was the writer of the Spider-Man comics that Todd McFarlane drew which had Venom.

Dillan venom could probably benefit from a spawn like arc. Especially since he is having murderous flashes still
Marvel is jealous of what todd is doing with the new spawn universe, so they named a bully after him and basically stole his design. very cool Marvel. Meanwhile Spawn will continue to outsell the majority of Marvel books for half the price.
Felt more like an homage to me.
McFarland designed Venom before he designed Spawn, so they will ALWAYS look similar.

@@OrphanCrippler1 I don't think it was really them dissing Todd. More or less a nod to him since he originally designed venom back in the 80s. When he left marvel and created spawn he actually took alot of his venom design elements and then just went over the top with them, basically made a version of venom but on edge steroids lmao.

I think they're going to reveal in a bit that Eddie's Physical Body has been Dead since like 5 Days after Usurping Knull, but since he's the New King In Black his Consciousness/Soul is Bonded to The Hive itself and that's where he lives now through Symbiotes.
Like we see here where he's in 8 places at once talking to all the different teams then having lunch with Spiderman.

@@NetherCrafterSMC maybe not yet, thinking about it now the Eddie with Spiderman is the only one in Normal Clothes so maybe that's the real one but that may just be Shape Shifting so not to Freak Out any passerbys... Also when leaving doesn't he turn into like a Swarm of Symbiote Bats or did they just carry him off?
And to be more specific the Eddies meeting with the Avengers, X-Men, Ect all are in Symbiote Suits with just the Head poking out. Those are most definitely copies or slivers of Eddie just there to talk with them (like Knull with his Multiple Avatars allowing him to be in 50 Tie-Ins at the same time)
If marvel is showing us that symbiotes can shapeshift into humans, maybe they’re foreshadowing using them in the MCU in a future secret invasion movie

They were not shifting into human form, but bonding with those who needed help. The guy at the coffee shop says he had cancer before his "other" got to him

I never expected the necro sword and thor wrap that up with the flicking Captain Universe! The old school of massage and everything they've done with Eddie Brock chef's kiss
I hope Dylan doesn't get swept to the side. I want him to take on The Maker. And its awesome that Flash Thompson is back and could become an Avenger!
I loved the story. I just didn't want to see Eddie wrote out at the end. He's always going to be my favorite Venom.
I can reluctantly get behind Dylan Brock as the new Venom because at least he's been built up properly (as opposed to the random kid who has Toxin now). /
Bummed that Eddie rapidly aged and won't become an Avenger. But Flash Thompson as an Avenger is a very interesting change (on top of him coming back to life). /
I'm ecstatic that The Maker wasn't written off completely. I've been waiting to see if he'd pose a major threat since he was put in the main universe, and knowing that may happen has me very excited. Plus, there's no telling how powerful he is with that composite symbiote.

That Cactus Jack line was exceptional
Although I don’t like this sudden unexplained timeskip (clearly Eddie and Dylan have both aged considerably yet only now is everyone dealing with the aftermath/the Avengers offering a place/Flash has been alive for years but is only now being active as Agent Anti Venom again…) and would prefer something simpler like using the Unipower to remove Dylan’s powers aged them both, I do like how Dylan’s version of Venom has moved away from the classic Spider-Man Venom, using chains instead of webs and the dragon symbol instead of a spider. It not only signifies this is a different Venom from before but that Dylan could go his own way with it.
Also while I’m not excited about the Ultimate Universe returning and basically doing a 1 time incursion situation I do love that we get the Maker back and his involvement earlier in Cates run was not just a through away excuse to get rid of him by returning him to his universe. Honestly the maker is one of my favourite villains because he was a hero who went bad rather than the more traditional villain redemption we tend to see in comics

I still want a team up comic with Venom and Anti-Venom. It actually makes even more sense now since Eddie could ask Flash to train Dylan. I also still want Flash to bond with the Sleeper symbiote and become Sleeper Agent.

Amazing video as always Rob! But just one little thing, Eddie is older now because of the strain of controlling the hive, not because years have has passed. It seems that just a few months happened after the King in Black Event.

I’m super excited for the ultimate universe man, ultimate spider-man was my first full comic story read through and got me hooked as well as Batman new 52 but man I’m hyped to see ultimate Peter again

@@cassiusclay6202 The real 616 Miles Morales can sent to the Ultimate Universe with the help of his friend Wilson Fiske. He came back to 616 to kill Spiderman Miles and Aaron Davis as Ultimatum who had a cross-section of powers he got defeating the Ultimate Universe avengers. That story arc led into the current Clone Saga

Hell yeah son. Agent Anti-Venom comic line would be super exciting. I've been a Venom fan since I was a kid, and I didn't much care about Mac Gargan taking over, but loved Agent Venom.
When all is said and done I really want eddie to be like an odin type character and retire to Klyntar. I want him to lean symbiote magic and be like a high sky father level character.

Yeah, I've had constant struggle all of my life. Constant conflict. It didn't help me build 'character'. The only thing I got out of it, was developing chronic depression, severe anxiety, psychosomatic disorder, and multiple cases of PTSD. I very much don't agree that conflict/struggle build character as a statement.
I disagree that the safest place is with the symbiote because even though its true that the symbiote will give its life for Dylan, even death can't stop a fathers love from protecting their child
But… THEY are Venom. THEY will protect him

Al Ewing is picking up Venom, Donny Cates is picking up Hulk. They switched. And I think they both are going to be great cuz they are both at fantastic starting points for both writers.
