Long ago, when the World of Warcraft was created, one of the programmers put a sword called The Sword of a Thousand Truths into the game inventory. But the sword was considered to be too powerful for anyone to possess, so it was removed from the game and stored on a one gig flash drive. But it was foretold that one day players who could wield the sword might reveal themselves.

The fun thing about guns in Dying Light was that they were useful against survivors but basically useless against zombies unless you landed a headshot, always thought it was a cool mechanic.

My opinion is that overpowered items in single player shouldn't be cut. Some people enjoy being overpowered and those who don't just don't use the item
Exactly. Idk why people so much of a fuss about it. This is why I love the mods for Fallout 4, as well as the things I could do with my Action Replay disc and my GameShark on PS1 and PS2. It's fun being OP.
I can understand this, but this only works for people with self control - which I know I don’t have. If there’s an OP weapon, it would be hard for me to not use it. So I tend to agree with developers and remove it. I believe unlocking the OP weapon with a code or in New Game+ is better.
5:00 Remote Hacking is an aug in the game though. It’s marked as an experimental aug and cost 2 Praxis to unlock + 1 Praxis to max it out. When maxed out this Aug allows you to temporarily disable robots, turrets, and security cam from a distance. I guess being half right isn’t bad since this werewolf Aug is technically present minus the remote hijacking part. If you max out the he right side of the Hacking Capture Aug you can make turrets and/or robots fight against their allies

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention this in the comments, but The Sword of Aeons from the original Fable should at least have an honorable mention, or make part 2, if we're including nerfed/reworked items in the list. They had to nerf it for the TLC expansion and then add Avo's Tear as an afterthought, otherwise TLC would be way too hard for good players and/or way too easy for evil players. I feel like that really neutralized the big choice at the end of the game since there's no real reward for choosing one way or another.
My favorite OP item was in Battlefield 3. The USAS could be equipped with an IR scope and frang rounds, turning it into a 40k Heavy Bolter. The IR scope painted anyone within a few hundred meters as bright red and yellow. I was so sad when they nerfed frags and IR to the point of being useless.
Literally my first thought. Just banging the ground or back wall to wipe the players hiding behind a corner. Honorable mention, hopping on a UAV drone and flying to the most ideal sniper spots. The nostalgia lol
I remember that lol was fun having my mate run with a 50 cal. And there's me with the shotty taking his kills before he fires
The Hitman World of Assassination trilogy removed the electrocution phone because of how OP it was, and also altered tye Molotov Cocktail to such a degree that it's practically a whole different (and significantly worse) item now.

The electrocution phone was the first thing that came to mind as well and was hoping to see in this video. That phone did make most targets very trivial.
I'm fairly certain that the Battle Gear from MGS 5 was going to be a thing, because it takes so many elements from Peace Walker, and for a PSP game, you got to create your own Metal Gear Zeke and actually fight it to make it stronger out in the field. Just about everything from MGS5 is ripped from MGS: PW but the sad thing is PW did it better. Probably because Kojima got let go before he could put all the good stuff from PW into 5 properly so a lot of the elements come off half-baked if you have played PW.
id argue pw didn't do most of it better, but dont get me wrong pw is a great game. the metal gear zeke is kinda the only thing i like better about PW.

@@xTemperszz it’s more so for nostalgia or if you want a physical copy, but yeah if you want better controls buy the HD collection on PS3, personally I already own 1, 2 and a bunch of ports of MGS3 so I bought the PSP version, but that’s also because I’m getting it signed by someone on the cast

Did You Know? Gaming recently had an episode about Metroid that explains what really happened with the Gun Ship. While being OP does enter into why it was cut, it had more to do with Nintendo. The short version of everything boils down to the Japanese folks at Nintendo don’t actually understand what a “Bounty Hunter “ is and the fact Samus was ever localized as one is problematic. Nintendo sees her as an Adventurer and not a Bounty Hunter. DYKG’s episode about this is incredibly interesting.

The metal gear mech might have been ok for some kind of bossfight gimmick/mechanic for a stand off against the giantwhatsithropus walker where it gets dropping in rather than the player finally justifying all the tanks they fultoned during the rest of the game.

Resident Evil 4 (the one from 2004) had a Game+ overpowered weapon besides the infinite rocket launcher RPG. The Chicago Typewriter was a Tommygun that fired infinite Magnum bullets in enemies, making even more game breaking than the RPG. You would unlock it after finishing the Ada's additional content (at least from Game Cube, I haven't played much from other versions or even the remastered). I think it got removed from RE 4 Remake from this year.
chicago typewriter was renamed to chicago sweeper but its still there at least.

The ring of displacement was eventually evolved into a ring in Dark Souls 2 that prevents all damage to your back at the cost of its durability and breaks when it’s absorbed a threshold of damage. It also weight as much as an Ultra Greatsword to wear
DS2 is a game I will never finish. I wish I could get a refund. It is nowhere near the enjoyment I got from Bloodborne, though that is also a game I regret buying now despite beating it twice.
The Ring of Blind Ghosts was likely an alternative to using the Transient Curse items.
Giving you the option to either be able to fight back or walk past.
First thing that came to mind before watching the video are the Model 1887s from MW2 2009 before they were patched. So insane for a sidearm

I must have glossed over that part of MGSV because I don’t even remember there being something about building their own mech. If they’d finished the last boss fight area then it would have been a cool bit to include along with all the stuff and people you’ve pilfered along the way.
Its part of Huey's bargain to not get locked up, since he was Suspect #1 on the destruction of the original Mother Base.
The deal was Huey would make himself useful and build a new "Battle Gear" to give Diamond Dogs the edge in the field.
This is what Huey works on through most of the story.

Phantom Pain and Mankind Divided were both amazing but also both randomly ended. I remember Phantom pain ended and I thought It was a bug and I had to do something to trigger the mission then I remember seeing lots of things about them cancelling the last 4 acts maybe even more because they hadn't finished them, I wasn't annoyed because I thought they would finish them and then add it as free DLC or maybe charge us £5 and that never happened then I was pissed. It was a great game and had a lot of stuff to do but was also disappointing because we were clearly building up to something and never saw it to fruition.
I'm a bit surprised that the devs of EVE cut something that would allow people to remote grief other players.
At least, I would think there would be a lot of complaints that they loose one of their tools for their favorite in-game activity.

I feel like a 10% damage reduction in Fallout 4 really isn't that big a deal. Although Jon/ManyATrueNerd probably would've made it a must-have perk for his YOLO run lol. But c'mon. YOLO is so freaking hard, that being a must-have wouldn't ruin it.

A more recent example of an op weapon being removed/patched was the unbreakable master sword in tears ok the kingdom. The glitch is super open + gives you another master sword.
I can't remember exactly, even though I played Halo 1 and 2, but I know the handgun was basically nerfed for Halo 2. It was so bad in 2 that I rarely picked one up. You could get the ammo maxed out and still go through it and have to pick up something else before the enemies in the area were finished. In H 1 it wasn't like that. In 2, there were plenty lying around during Flood scenes, but dual wielding the machine pistols and using grenades and a shotgun made everything else but the Needler useless. H2 remains one of the highest octane fearful games I've played. The laboratory level was just insane. Any other time, the handgun was still useless. Players complained that it was too powerful in the first game. I don't remember it that way. Perhaps they meant in multi-player mode?

Not technically an item, but the Kraken from OG Splatoon for the Wii U was OP and removed in Splatoon 2. It returned (in a nerfed form) to Splatoon 3 recently.
A lot of games nowadays offer overpowered items for 100% complexion so there is no really need to remove Op items, just keep them out multiplayer modes.
You could make a similar video but with anime. The first thing that comes to my mind is Buster Call from One Piece. It involves summoning a fleet that destroys a designated target completely. Including innocent bystanders and bystanders. The entire island is razed to the ground.
removing guns from the dying light world was an instant pass for me. just an incredibly strange design choice for a zombie game, who's overall genre lives in the "shoot em in the head" mantra.
6:55 Actually, shortly after you first get the airstrike mode for the gunship, I was able to terminate some enemies on Bryyo using an airstrike. So while I can understand the point I STILL wish they kept it in...

The "Fierce Diety Mask" from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask?
You could only get and use it during the endgame by trading every other mask earned in the game for it. This thing was UNREASONABLY powerful and made the final fight like popping a bubble with a chainsaw. 🤣
In DX:MD you still can disable security systems from the distance- you just can't control them, only disable
You 100% can remote hack in Deus Ex Mankind Divided. It's not available before a certain point in the game, as it's called an "experimental aug" you gain access to after a few dramatic cutscenes, but it is there, and I've used it alot

Samus is only a bounty hunter because Nintendo thought it sounded cool. They had no idea what a bounty hunter was until Retro came around and they responded with a confused "Why is Samus doing all that? No. Stahp"
If you played Dying light 1. You'll know what 2 only had one gun.
In short: The last levels where so easy it was actually kind of criminal. I only died a lot because I still used melee weapons. But when I did go guns blazing I pretty much never dyed (ESPECIALLY if you use the shotgun).

Pre-nerfed Anakin in Battlefront II (ps4) is hands down one of the most broken online characters ever.

Taking all these overpowered items out of games is exactly why they don't feel fulfilling anymore, knowing you have the one weapon that could literally one shot basically anything in your path and you the player choose not to use it, commending studios for taking op items out of single player games is basically like saying "thank you for punishing everyone because i have zero self control"

What they did to the tank in GTA over the years is a travesty. I remember in Vice City firing the cannon from behind to get a speed boost, while blowing up FBI vehicles chasing after me and instantly blowing up any car that dared to slam into me

Cyberpunk 2077 "Warp Dancer" Sandevistan ... Originally slowed time TO 10% (90% reduction) which gave it the name warp dancer. Now it's slow time BY 20% (20% reduction), one of the slowest and a total waste of credits ... Still has the name "Warp Dancer" which no longer applies as 20% isn't warping. Yeah they also nerfed the duration and cooldown for game balance but keeping the name while making it one of the slowest (excluding tier 1 starters) is appalling.
Suggestion: Make these awesome things available after someone beats the single player game to give us more reasons to play 100+ hours.
The Electrocution Phone from Hitman 2 (2018) was the only(?) item in the game that wasn't made available in Hitman 3 - even though it let's you play all the Hitman 2 levels.
The original doomsday weapon was a massive smart AOE that would instantly gib most enemy non-capital ships in a 100km radius(!) iirc
They changed it to a single target weapon that would one-shot anything short of a super-capital ship or a heavily tanked capital ship.
Oh! I got an example. Maybe? Let me explain. Its called the OP-INTENSIFY; an optional part in older Armored Core games. Originally you got it by failing missions and reaching a certain negative balance and which would restart your game with an added function for each time while keeping your current parts.
Things included enhanced booster performance, better generator, shoulder mount weapons no longer requiring to kneel, and so on. Well, come AC3 you got the part at the end of the game but had to unlock the perks by doing specific things in missions. So if I had it fully unlocked and you didn't, I'd have an enormous advantage over you. Well. People didn't like this so after Silent Line, they got rid of it. RIP
How is it that the Zapinator from Terraria isn't on here? It was literally created to be stupid OP for Devs to use during development and then accidentally left in the game during launch. It was so stupid OP that they literally chose to make its design a reference to a historically broken game controller.
You can also damage the ghosts in New Londo if you're cursed, and we all know how much From loves to curse the shit out of players in all their games. Originally at game launch the idea was that if you got cursed you had to go on a quest to NLR to find the cure. But then people bitched and they nerfed the shit out of everything because those that couldn't handle it really didn't have any business playing the game.

The Black Hole Grenade was so powerful it caused me to get an ad right as the grenade activated.
Remote hacking is in Deus Ex Mankind Divided. It might be part of one of those dlc bundle packs, but it is in the game.
The Buzzsaw from Far Cry 4 should've been removed from the game. That gun was MAD overpowered in-game and shreds through anything from heavies to helicopters in seconds! If it had been removed from the game, I could see it being on this list

I think Halo had some powerful weapons that were removed, but then eventually added back. Like the CE pistol. I think the Spartan Laser wasn’t in every game either, but maybe I am misremembering.

The new dying light2 trailer for community made maps had some visuals of some type of guns.
Rivers of blood from elden ring should of been on here. That stuff made the whole community of elden ring cause a uproar and people was banning it in there 1v1 competitions 😂

That was a really good list, I usually already know one or two things going in however all of these where new.
The ghosts in anor Londo are a joke at this point, yeah when it first came out it was a nightmare but that is by far, the easiest part of that area
Use a transient hand, those can come in abundance and last a long while, and eventually they will drop a dagger that you can use

It should be noted Dying Light 2 does have bows and crossbows. Also, we have a big update tomorrow fixing most of the games problems so now is the time to try it out!

Actually, in dark souls one, you can craft a cursed Artorias Greatsword that could damage ghosts.
Hbomber has a great video on why the newer Deus Ex games are the way they are
8:00 that would only break the game if you get insane amount of ammo to make use of it and if the game ain't broken to begin with. however you get a fuckton of ammo for way stronger weapons already (you start getting immense amounts of ammo when chris joins the group), making going through the game a frigging breeze.

Ok with as good as modders are these day’s surprises me that nobody has re-added these to the games. Heck even the metal gear you’d think someone would have gotten it working after all this time.
