If you can keep up with trends it means you are still relevant. I mean, all Iron Maiden records are the same style, Metallica as well. If Led Zeppelin were still out there they could not be playing that 70s hard rock, they would have to adapt to current trends or become a copy, outdated oldies but goodies band.
Bathtubgeorge! KISS follow the freemason Cult Club Agenda, and do what is authorised to them from people higher up the freemasonry Cult Club ladder. They probably don't even write their own songs or if they do, people in a place like the Tavistock Institute look at the songs and change them to suit the freemason Cult Club Idol Worshiping Agenda. ALL popular bands that are in the charts or are known are in the freemason Cult Club. Now in 2018 KISS are Absolute Crap and their music is rubbish. ALL of their music is recorded on 440hz frequency instead of 432hz which separates peoples 2 chamber brain. The beats are deliberately wrong in most music for authoritarian CONtrol over people which includes KISS music and they know it.
I dont really see it that way. Dynasty didnt sound like anything else out there, where you hear a song from Dynasty, You know its Not the Knack or Styx or Black Sabbath or Ac Dc , You know its KISS. If youre reffering to I was made for loving you, thats just one song is all, cant really call the album trendy just because 1 song imo. The Elder wasnt trendy either. It didnt sound like any other rock band at the time. It was way off in left field, crappy KISS album but cant really say its trendy, cuz it doesnt really soumd like other bands to me. Creatures sounds like hard rocking KISS during that time period. Crazy Nights .........nuthin I can say about that one. 2 good songs & the rest is all filler
Disagree about creatures of the night, that was kiss returning to there roots, yes it’s heavier than the first 6 albums but it sounds more like Kiss than unmasked did, and it’s there definitive sound returned and updated and heavier and it continued through lick it up and animalize and asylum. Crazy nights was like unmasked part 2 it’s a pop rock album
Sure a lot of things they say seem silly today but you hafto keep in mind this interview is about 30 years old. I for one certainly didn’t people recording my thoughts 30 years ago. I’m betting I would seem hypocritical as well today
KISS was indeed an influental band, with tentacles everywhere. Even Maynard James Keenan was a massive fan in his youth. But the classic KISS sound ended after Love Gun, we all can agree. The influental years were not even ten. After LG, KISS chased trends.
Besides the first 3 albums and the last 3 pretty much everything they did was follow trends. The Elder was a response to the Prog movement of the late 70's from bands like Yes, Rush and Pink Floyd. They even got the same producer as those bands. Vinnie Vincent was hired to give them that hard rock sound, just like Randy Rhoads gave Ozzy. Mark St. John was the bands way of trying to have a Van Halen type of guy in the band, somebody who has a fussion-y style and can do a lot of tricks. Bruce Kulick was pretty much their way getting that Bon Jovi type of sound- something of a pop sensibility without overplaying. Eric Singer on Revenge was a big part (as well as Bruce) for getting a metal sound, and they were gonna continue to Carnival of souls which has a ton of grunge ellements. So in a nutshell almost all of what they did between Love Gun and Phycho Circus was following trends.
wow, another fluff interview with Gene and Paul being anything but honest and modest. In 1988, for KISS to say that bands were looking to them for direction and to lead the way is anything but truth, to hear them tell it today, it was quite the opposite.
cd mc They know the Script before they Stage the interview and answer the questions accordingly to suit the freemason Agenda and Cult Club they are in.
you have to understand these two are coming off a very disappointing album/low sales, after they waited about a year for Ron Nevison to produce the Crazy Nights album. the expectations were high and the band did not come close. during this appearance they were on a very successful tour of Europe but in America the album cycle was over and done with. plus, the line of questions was not very conducive to a fun environment. they were presented in a serious manner and were very direct but perhaps that is the way in this country. i think the person asking the questions was very knowledgable and you can sense a huge fan of this music but just not the best time for Kiss in Sept 1988
gene always seems uninterested in interviews while stan are the one who are ready to do interviews as part of their promotion. although, it's part of being an artist to constantly be asked questions and sometime repeating the same thing over and over again ad nausea. price for stardom and success, i guess? :p
Really Paul???? You’re going to take the credit away from Black Sabbath???…… you are a good rock ‘n’ roll band and you’ve done a lot to influence…… but please get real!!
Paul and gene two legends of Rock
I was at the concert played right after this interview in Helsinki. So long time ago!
Kiss songs is the best way every

metallica es una cosa . . . KISS es otra, con el respeto que se merecen mis amigos de san francisco pero KISS tiene mas HISTORIA !!!

PAUL STANLEY
20 DE ENERO DE 1952
70 AÑOS
GUITARRISTA DE KISS.
Crazy Nights tour....Turn on the Night
Dynasty, Elder, Unmasked, COTN, Crazy Nights... this was Kiss following trends.
So are Revenge and Carnival of Souls. Good records, but pretty much dirrect response to the end of the glam era

Duran Duran is more than a fad, as they’ve sold almost 100 mil records. And like Gene, Duran bassist John Taylor is way underrated
Gene was licking his lips at the interviewer. Licking his lips!
It's silicone makeup
Thought this was a KISS interview but it’s a KI interview
Paul so cute❤❤❤❤ gene doesn't look too bad here
