    When your in between daisy links, turn the stick toward horizontal. It will allow you to get in the smaller link, and when turned vertical, and weight is applied that stick is now locked good and tight. Works every time.

      You can also wrap the daisy chain around the tree twice on medium to small trees. Usually lands on a loop second time around, if in between on the first.

    If you end up between 2 loops on the daisy chain, turn the stick to the side and then attach the loop. Return the stick vertical.

    I like most people prefer the most easiest way but that's not usually the most safest way. Also if you use the lock in the background, you can really see the difference in the stretch

    For the "daisy chain" twist or turn the stick so its oriented at "2 and 8" (clock face) so the stick is closer to the tree. Then choose the right hole and twist the stick back to 12 and 6. Give that a try ....

    Glad you made this video I’ve been debating on some amsteel straps for my double steps. I think after watching this I’m sticking with my regular straps, buckleless without the versa button.

  • @shanerRC
    @shanerRC Před 3 lety +1

    With those sticks having the buttons so high, as soon as the sag gets to the point where the rope crosses the point of contact with the tree, you have no pressure holding the bottom feet to the tree. If it goes above it will actually pull the bottom feet off the tree.

  • @bulletsandbroadheads
    @bulletsandbroadheads Před 4 lety +1

    With the amsteel daisy chain, I wrap it 2 or 3 times the stick right above the versa button , then connect it to the versa button, super strong. Just wrapping it 3 times it holds great 👍

  • @easternadventures4254

    Daisy chain run it under the versa button behind itself and back around the button. Then feed it through one of the loops like a truckers hitch and pull tight. Finally put the closest loop over versa button. Sounds like a lot but it’s not. Many videos up on how to do this. Takes the slack out of the daisy chain makes it rock solid

    Been thinking of this for awhile with the 1.0 setup. I do agree with the strap method with security to the tree, prefer 8mm(your 2nd pick) just so I can have a longer strap and less material in my pack. All preference though!

    I’ve been researching the past week on what I want to build out of my Amsteel that’s still in the mail. Several new ways are out there I’d like to know your thoughts. One is making the first section of the daisy a whoopsie sling to adjust the slack out. The other is something I found on a hammock camping video. Never seen it used for a stick attachment method but they called out UCR I think. Similar to whoopsie with much less wasted rope in my opinion.

    • @thewhitetailexperience6055

      couple new options still a big fan of the buckles cause its more surface area gripping the tree

    • @chrisunruh6485
      @chrisunruh6485 Před 2 lety

      @@thewhitetailexperience6055 100%. If I’m setting a stand and leaving it for the year there is no benefits to Amsteel or anything trying to save weight or quiet things down. I like the quietness of no buckles and I know there has to be a way to make it work and still be efficient.
      I went with the UCR (utility constrictor rope) I think that’s the name. No slack, very close to working as well as a buckle

  • @vincentflauto7650
    @vincentflauto7650 Před 3 lety

    whoopsie daisy chains have the ability to take up the slack. you should try them.

  • @the_atomic_punk487
    @the_atomic_punk487 Před 3 lety

    How about packability? How do the straps wrap around the double step sticks and how do they then stack? The amsteel wraps up nicely and the sticks nest together tightly, but I too am leery about it’s ability to hold tight against the tree while 20’ up.

  • @the_atomic_punk487
    @the_atomic_punk487 Před 3 lety

    Using the straps and removing the buckles, does that shorten the amount of usable strap to where it limits what size of the tree you can get into?

  • @raz_r_yaj8869
    @raz_r_yaj8869 Před 4 lety +1

    Do another test with quarter turn with sticks than put on the loop. Can you also test out the versa strap since its flat.

    • @coreylkeen
      @coreylkeen Před 4 lety +1

      Exactly. With the daisy chain, just turn the stick a quarter turn prior putting a loop on a button. You can easily gain at least one loop on the daisy chain with this method. Once loop is on, then return the stick to parallel to the tree and set it prior to stepping on it. That will make it very solid.
