The Time Traveler known as Kang the Conqueror has led many lives across many eras. He has been a Pharaoh, a Villain, a Warlord of the Spaceways - and even, on rare occasions, a Hero. Across all timelines, one fact seemed absolute: time means nothing to Kang. But the truth about the Conqueror is much more complex! Kang is caught in an endless cycle of creation and destruction, dictated by time and previously unseen by any but the Conqueror himself. A cycle that, once revealed, could finally explain the enigma that is Kang. And a cycle that begins and ends with an old and broken Kang sending his younger self down a dark path…

Rob just took one of the most confusing origin stories in the history of comics (not just Marvel) going back almost 60 years & had it make sense in about 5 minutes😳🤯 if this isn't goat level greatness I don't know what is🐐💯🔥🔥🔥

I have watched all the parts as you uploaded them, and know I have watched it as a whole. That ending shot with him resting on his hand and saying "Never. Ever. Love" hit me so hard.

So... Why can't Kang descend from both Reed and Doom? They are separated by a thousand years, it wouldn't be impossible for those bloodlines to eventually Cross.
I mean technically they could. It wouldn't really hurt anything but further add to the legacy of reed and doom.

Rob, that conclusion was one of the best I've heard in almost 45 years of reading comics. You really nailed the description of how love can break someone. Truly excellent.
Wow. I have to admit I never really thought much of Kang, but this story is so incredible, such a spectacular character study, that he has become one of my favourite comic characters from this story alone.
He is truly an amazing character and a great villain. I really hope the MCU doesn't waste him. He has the ability to span multiple movies as a primary antagonist or as supporting character depending on what version of him is there
Rob's videos are so soothing I've been listening to him for I guess five or six years now and if I just don't feel like listening to anything or watching TV I click on one of these even if I've heard it before and it just makes me feel better. It's not just his voice, but his excitement, it allows me to be immersed in the story he's telling and that is another part, the way he tells the story. Thanks Rob.
That was absolutely brilliant. These are the stories I find to be truly compelling. Yes, the whole hero triumphs over the villain trope is cool. But a story set in that universe and is so intimately personal that you really relate to a character is what makes something seriously special.
Okay, so I think Kang just became one of my favorite Marvel villains now.
Such a interesting and complicated origin story that actually makes a lot sense.
Knowing his new origin now make the lines on his face seems more symbolic as if they were his tears from his failures trying to actualize his deep desire.
I especially like the frisson, the cognitive dissonance between old Kang demanding he "wipe that pathetic paint off your face" as he seems to still wear it himself, since it seems to have become a constant characteristic of the way that that version of Kang is always depicted. Hate and bitterness can make you incredibly un-self-aware.
That's absolutely mind blowing, a Romeo and Juliet story on a multiversal scale

Started being curious about Kang after watching Quantumania & seeing Jonathan Major’s brilliant performance. And it led me to this video and wow. I’m so excited to see where his portrayal goes now in the MCU. But even bigger, Kang’s story is now one of my favorites in the Marvel comic world. Such an awesome character

listening to this story with all the emotions and the living of the human experience, I can definitely see Johnathan Major as Kang. I believe he'll do a great Job embodying the raw complexity of Kang/Nathaniel.

There is a strange beauty that in her final life, Revonnah tried to help Kang move on and not to drown in suffering. And that it was not Revonnah he should’ve gone for… but his first love in Adi.

What a great story.
Thank you for sharing this nonlinear story. Was trying to understand Kang, Rama-tut, Immortus, Ironlad, that are all one character or person. Decent story and found it very similar to other stories of understanding one self. With all you have experience, learn, seen, study, and understanding, then the conclusion is that you can only control what you control.

The young Kang in this comic was iron lad. Adult Kang went back right to the moment the bully was about to slit his throat, displaced him and he became iron lad, then eventually adult Kang got iron lad back to the point his throat was slit and wiped his memory of having been iron lad and allowed the bully to slit his throat. This young Kang is after the recovery from that injury.
Wow, Literally heartbreaking. Phenomenally Poetic. Kang The Conqueror became Kang The Conquered!!! I love this new Origin Story. “You must train yourself to let go, all you fear to lose.” - Master Yoda. That’s the only way to do the impossible. Break the cycle. Much appreciation for this, Storyteller!!!
He's not a hypocrite he found a way to evolve. By merging with Celestial Tech he made himself the strongest.

Wow. I would say Kang is the best story I've seen from Marvel yet. Hope that doesn't ruffle too many feathers. He's not the most powerful, just a good story.
I guess how you can explain it is that while Kang has traveled across time and lived many life times. He himself, his memories and his actions have a linear sequence to them. Thus when Nathaniel comes out of the coffin and meets Kang, this Kang does not remember him because this Kang is in a moment of his linear life where he has not yet decided to take his younger self
The last few minutes about love and the way it controls one even when no longer in a relationship had me! Well played broski, well played!!

What a great story! Thankyou for covering this! I love that I honestly didn’t tie everything together until the last section of this video, like I understood it but I couldn’t tie everything together but when OG Nathanial visited the young Nathanial at the end it just clicked for me how Kangs time loop works, why the Scarlet Centurion is referred to as Kangs son. Everytime Kang travels back to meet Nathanial whilst he is less savage in his action and mission to conquer he is just as steadfast in his motivation regardless of wether for good or for evil. To finish with young Nathanial telling him to never love just like Kang told him when young, Chefs kiss! After this to me a Kangs story is never finished until there is a Conquerer/Kang above him and an Ironlad/Nathanial below him.

This story makes Kang a giant paradox, so that in order for Kang to come into existence, Kang has to have already existed.
I feel that it's only a paradox because he was close minded. If he opened his mind he would have never became Kang.

The way that Nathaniel Richards and Revonna were in Rama-Tut's ship, and he had a bunch of ladies around him, I liked that, because it reminded me of Maestro Hulk, and that is one of the things that I LOVE about Maestro Hulk's empire, because it is different from all of the thrones and statues of the ruler, and the great army and things like that, Maestro Hulk's empire actually does go into what he does behind the scenes, like it's not like Darkseid or Dr. Doom, or other rulers like that who you just see on a throne and commanding armies, and doing nothing else.
That was a great story, He conquered everything but then was conquered by Love. The one thing he could beat.

I've never understood why it's a big thing of determining whether or not Nathaniel Richards was descended from Reed Richards, or Dr. Victor von Doom.
He can literally be descended from both. That's kind of how families work over time.

I was kinda behind his tragic love story. Up until Kang essentially gave birth to his own girlfriend across multiple iterations.
Kang is literally just looking for a case where “No” means “Yes”.
Yes this is a tragedy not a story about multiverse. It's about what happens to everyone: Rejection and a path to moving on. Scott Lang knows exactly this so does Steve Rogers both with similar story lines
Such is the tragedy of love. Notice we’ve never seen a love story of a woman doing this for a man. It’s always the man going beyond what he is suppose to in the name of love 😂
